Chapter 31: Satsuki’s Morning Training II

I stared at Iffy and she stared at me. it was getting quite awkward, so I felt like I needed to be the one talking here.
"So..."

I spoke up and she stared further into my soul.

"What are we going to be learning today?"

"Today, you are going to learn how to master your magic power and give it the control that you are so very missing. A while back, you used that razor move and it was pretty dangerous and had a number of flaws. So, to compensate for your issues and make it easier for you to control your mana, I will have you be using water magic. Water magic Is one of the most stable and most flexible forms of magic."

I nodded.

"So what specific actions am I going to do today?"
"Well, let's just begin with making a ball of water."

She said as she opened up her hand and held it in front of me. Mana rushed through her body and onto the tip of her pam. Ascending before swirling around to reveal a ball of water.

"This is your first step."

I stared at her.

"That's so cool! It just looks so cool!"

I said as I held my hand out. Mana rushed through my body before making its way into my palm, then past my skin to the top of my palm. The spiraling ball of mana began to ascend for a bit before growing looser and more fluid. It began to lose its light blue color to embrace a translucent white. Before I knew it, I had conjured a ball of water over my palm.
"Nice. Looks like I will have to step up a bit."

She said as she began to smile.

"Hold it in your hand before finding a target. The place where you want to throw it to."

I nodded.

"The place I wanna throw it at..."

'I think it would be good for me to throw into the trees. After all, no one is there.'

I thought before closing my eyes and imagining the ball of water splashing out at the trees. I opened them back up again to hear Iffy scream as the ball stretched out like a whip. It had swiped an entire tree down.

"This wasn't supposed to happen! How could an absolute beginner like her even use the tier 2 spell Aqua Whip! A move that can decapitate knights in a single move! She's growing way too fast!"

She cried out before falling to her knees. She clenched her head as she did so.

"Uh... Was I supposed to do that? Or w-"

"I was going to tell you what I wanted you to do before you did that! But looks like I will have to do that all over again."

She said.

"Alright."

A ball of water reappeared in my hand.

"You must be gifted for this or something. Because your ability to do magic is simply unholy."

She said as she stared at me.

"Wha- what do you mean by unholy."

"It's way too overpowered! You're growing way too fast!"

She said as she began wracking her head around before a smile slipped onto her face.
"Since you're so good, how about you work for me?"

She said with a sly smile and an evil laugh.

"Uh. Where is this work invitation even coming from?"

"Do you have any job experience?"

I shook my head.
"I had never worked a job in my life."

She took out a notebook and began to take notes.

"Wait... Why is this a job interview all of the sudden!?"

I said shocked.

"Don't question it. You're going to get a job because of me, so consider it a pleasure."

I stared at her.

"Are you actually serious or are you trying to trick me into playing one of your games?"
I said as I stared deeply into her crimson eyes.

"Fine. I admit I was teasing you. But I kind of want to hire you now."

"If you were to hire me, wouldn't that be a bit corrupt? Like you shouldn't really be hiring a friend of yours since that goes against business ethics."

She said with blank soulless eyes that began to make her shiver.

"Seriously!? Looks like I should just be staying here, rather than moving to the city or something?"

"I don't mean that everyone in this world is a lying bastard, but only that most merchants, nobles, and politicians are like that."

I nodded.

"Looks like I should definitely stay away from politics!"

"Yeah. It's a shit show, to be honest."

Iffy said.

"What's happening?"

"Well, two noblemen are actually arguing over a noble lady. And the girl doesn't want those two guys and has rejected every attempt of the princes to swoon over them. So the two clans which the noble guys are from are accusing each other of intimidating the girl and the two clans are mobilizing against one another."

"Wow... That's a mess. An absolute mess."

She nodded.

"It could get a lot worse in the future, but at least it's not at that stage yet."

"Yeah. Hopefully, it ends peacefully."

"Also, I think that's enough chit-chat for now. Let's go back to training."

I nodded.

"Once you have the ball of water over your palm, you should find an area where you want to transport the water to."

I nodded as I stared at a small bush.

"Once you have found your target area, you should be imagining the sphere of water making its way over to the area."

I nodded before imagining the sphere of water making its way over to the area.

"Once the ball begins making its way over to the area, you have to maintain its form. Make sure the ball is still a ball and does not have any indents. If there is an indent, you should put some mana into that area. But if you put too much mana into an area, you create a bumpy area, which you will need to take mana away from. Also, you should be walking alongside the ball as yo-"

She stared at me doing it.

"This is a lot easier than I thought it would be. I thought our training would be a lot more difficult."

I said as I walked behind the perfectly spherical ball of water.

"Alright. You really are a monster."

She said as she began to slump over.
