I was surprised someone would put me in such on a pedestal. It's an idea completely foreign to me. I don't know how to handle human interaction at the moment. Everyone I ever met laughed at me. The worst of it was happening in high school right before we were summoned here. Beatings, ripped papers, food spilled me were just some of things I put up with. I never reacted though. These experiences haunt my dreams and plague my memory. How could someone find a use for me? Why did that god give me special treatment? My thoughts are interrupted by the elf walking in front of me.
"So what was it like in your own world?", I tense up at the question but, give her a response in the most calm manner I can. My life there was miserable.
"It was fine I guess. No magic", I answer. She puts a hand on my shoulder. I shift my shoulders up in surprise and tense up.
"Look if your going to be living with me for the next month you're going to have to stop being so evasive", she stands behind me with both of her hands on my shoulders as we continue to walk.
"We only m-met today. There'll be more time for that later", we did just meet and I don't want to tell a sob story. Showing weakness only emboldens them. She forces me and looks into my eyes.
"You know, even though I'm a researcher more then anything, I was born with the ability to sense emotion. You've been giving off an aura of great sadness, one I've only seen in people who've lost everything" she looks at me with eyes of sympathy. I stay silent as she continues.
"You can't be the hope of a nation while having such an emotional state. You need to heal. You can start by opening up." No one has cared about my feelings other than my parents. This elf isn't even a beastmen. Why does she care?
"Why-", but before I can continue she pulls me into her quarters. I hadn't even noticed we arrived at all.
"Why do I care? Who wouldn't? You just agreed to help protect an entire nation. Someone like that deserves as much help as they can get. That's not my reason though. You're aura is so dark that I. Don't know how your even sane. Something terrible has happened to you and I couldn't fall asleep at night if I didn't try to help." That's not how people from my world thought. Most of them probably thought "Too much of a pain." or "It doesn't effect me. So why bother?" They will tell you different but, they lie to themselves. I should know. I'm guilty of this myself.
"I don't want to talk about it. No one is that nice", I try to brush her off. She frowns and forces me to face her. She pulls me into her chest. I can't help but remember my mother right now. I used to have panic attacks at home. She would always hold me like this to get me to calm down. I feel myself start to shake. I try to pull away but she holds me firmly, but gently in place.
"Please....I don't...", I start to plead, my eyes starting to leak.
"I don't know what you've been through or how you got through it, but right now, you're being cherished. So, let everyone cherish you. Let me heal you", looking up at her she is giving me a gentle smile. Feeling myself choking up, I cave into my emotions.
