Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Putting aura into skills

As the family gets their blanket set up, Leo runs up to me with a big smile on his face. 

"Twee let's play!" Leo says in an excited voice, but I came to a decision so I don't move.

"Twee?" Leo asks in a confused tone, as usualy, I would have started using a root to play with him but I still do nothing.

After a while of me doing nothing and Leo pocking me, he leaves with a sad face. I feel like a horrible person, or tree I suppose. After a bit, I start listening to what Lily is saying as she is talking to John.

"John, why has the apple tree not started growing fruit? Like it's the start of spring and not even the flowers have grown yet? Lily asks with a confused voice.

'Oh yea, I do have [Create fruit 1], why have I never used it? What does it even do? system!' 

[Create Fruit]: 

-Grow a fruit of the tree type (apple)

-Growing fruit takes a week

-Can grow a number of fruit equal to or less than the skills level

-(NOTE: This ability cannot be used in Winter or Fall unless the holder has cold resistance of level 2 or higher.)

'Ok so it just starts making an apple, well that was obvious but at least I now know it takes a week'

"Well, I don't think it will matter as there are no pollinators here, remember the animal ward you had me set up when we moved in because you hated ants? That keeps away bees as well so no fruit will grow, why do you think that the flowers don't grow anymore?" John calmly responds to Lily as she is rocking the new baby.

"Oh well I guess that makes sense, can you change the ward to let bees in?" Lily asks in a hopeful manner, seems like she really wants apples to grow.

"To do that I would need to make a whole new spell as I don't know any spells that let just bees in," John says after some contemplation.

"How long would that take?" Asks Lily in an even more hopeful voice.

"Years" John responds, killing her dreams instantly.

"Then just forget it," Lily says with a sigh.

"Hey dad, can I become a knight?" Leo quickly asks after running up to John.

"Why do you want to be a knight?" John questions at the sudden request.

"Because I want to be like the hero's in the books" Leo answers with childish determination.

'That's cute but he is only 2'

"Ok Leo, let's make a deal, you can train to be a knight but you need to wait for when you are 5 before you can start, ok?" John says to the cute kid beside him.

"YAY!" Leo shouts out in excitement and runs back to the house.

"Oh, what will we do with him?" John says with a chuckle

"It's good that he knows what he wants even when he is young, that fire is something lost to most," Lily says in a sage voice.

"You will want to live a quiet life, right my little Melia?" Lily says in a soft voice.

'Melia, that's a good name'

I look at Melia with her button nose and deep blue eyes, she is a healthy size for a baby and she looks tired right now and about to fall asleep in Lily's arms.

'Hey system, can I have [Create Fruit] auto-activate in the spring?'

Ding!

'[Create Fruit] set to loop during spring'

'Ok with that done let's use [Wait] for a long time.'

Its been half a year and I am still absorbing the same stone so no progress in my class but with the new year I got a new racial level and with it, two levels in [Create fruit] and a level in [Root Control] which is nice as my speed of absorption will speed up with my now 25 roots. On a different note, Leo has mostly stopped coming by at this point, I guess my not playing with him means he has lost the last reason to come by but Lily and Melia still sit in the grass sometimes which is nice. Melia has been growing well and John seems to think she will have talent in magic though I don't know how he knows this exactly but ill trust him. 

'I still can't see this house that the family lives in but that makes sense as my sight is only 12.4 feet and...' My thoughts get cut off by a ding

-Allows the holder to feel danger coming ahead of time

-The holder knows neither where it is coming from nor how serious the threat is.

'If I could actually move this would be an OP ability' I think with a mental sigh.

'Ya know, I remember for some random anime that you could combine skills to have better abilities, I wonder if I Could do that?' I think

I try and feel for something in my body, it's hard to find anything for who knows how long but I finally find it, in front of me is a green crystal that should be my aura. It's small, and probably has to do with my low level in Aura Master but that doesn't matter right now, I try and move the crystal but nothing happens, it's like it's stuck where it is in the void that is my mind. I try moving it in different ways from pushing to trying and breaking a piece off but nothing works, it's stuck. 

'How can I get aura into a skill if I can't move it?' I think for a couple of hours before a lightbulb moment strikes, if I can't move my aura to a skill then what if I move the aura from a stone to a skill?  I look closer into my mental void and see small streams of light moving into my aura crystal, I then will the streams to a different place, and it works. I smile at this and then go look for where my [Root Sense] would be in my mind and after looking for a bit I find a root that I can just feel is the skill I'm looking for. 

I look back at where my aura crystal is and will the streams to the root in front of me, it starts streaming into the root, after 2 days of this, the root starts taking on a green color just like the crystal.

Ding!

[Root Sense] has been upgraded to [True Senses]

[True Senses]:

-The holder gains the ability to sense the world around them as a Mortal would.

-Gain the senses of sight and  hearing as if you are a human

'YESSS!!!' I shout out in my head.

I feel my sight change and suddenly I'm looking around and I see everything. I can see the family's house with Lily sitting in front of it on a rocking chair, she is holding Melia in her arms, it is getting dark with the sun setting in the distance framing the house as if in a painting. I look around me and notice that the area around the house is surrounded by a rushing clear river with fish splashing about, it's beautiful. 

I keep looking around trying to find everything else that I have been missing this whole time, in the distance I see a town surrounded by farmlands, I can see kids running through the grassy fields just outside the town and trees bare of leaves because it's fall. After Marveling at the sights I realize that I can hear the wind blowing through the grass, I only now realized how bad the hearing from [Root Sense] was because of how great this hearing is, I look back to where the kids were playing and see Leo, he is now 4 but looks like he is 6, it's strange but I chalk it up to a weird quirk of this world. I look up and see 5 birds flying overhead, they are a royal blue and they are massive, like big as a cow but looked like a blue raven.

I looked around until the sun fully set and I remembered to set the aura stream back to my aura crystal

I sent a root to the family's house and learned from the conversation that happened inside that Lily is a Tailor, John is something of a freelancer with his magic, and finally that Leo will be sent to a knight academy at the start of summer, so in 3 or so months which he is very excited about as his dream of being a knight has never wavered.

Melia has started walking and talking which is good because she is a year old now, she seems really smart to me but that might be biased because she is super cute but I digress, the important thing about Melia is that she cast a spell two days ago, she made sparks fly through the air for a solid minute and then promptly passed out which Lily was scared half to death by before John promised her the Melia was fine and it was just mana exertion and she would wake in an hour or two completely fine. He then took Melia inside and placed her on her twin-sized bed and tucked her in. I have been noticing things since I got my new sight, this world is a strange mix of modern and fantasy like you might have a pen or plumbing but it's completely magic based, there are off-track trains that use magic and are used by merchants but they don't know about things like gravity. I have come to the conclusion that other people have reincarnated in this world like me and have spread knowledge but only had half-baked knowledge or just knew about the concepts but not how they worked so they just filled in the gaps with magic. 

'I wonder how many other people from earth there are in this world'

---World Announcement---

Scrilion the Hand of freedom, has killed the Vealon Empire's emperor and freed all the Beastkin slaves there.

'Of course, there are beastkin slaves here, why wouldn't there be' I think before I hear talking from inside the house.

"John, we are on the east border of the Vealon Empire, wont there be a lot of beastkin refugees coming through here?" Lily asks John after putting Leo to sleep.

"Not many probably, most of the places that used slaves in the empire were closer to the south so a couple the escape from noble houses might run through here but not many or enough to cause concern" John calmly explains.

"Oh ok, that makes sense I guess" Lily responds still a little worried.

'Wait a minute, how does killing a king free EVERY slave? Like if a new ruler came to power and banned slavery that might make sense but the king just died right? so why?' I wonder in thought.
