Side Story 7: The Lady and Her Knight (I)

Of course, one kiss didn’t change their relationship. She was still Anakin’s master, and he obeyed her.

His master did not go out for a while, busy reading the book Anakin had bought from the bookstore. After a brief moment of peace, she told Anakin to get ready, saying that she had a place to go to.

The place where they got off the carriage and arrived at was the academy. He had only heard of it, but Anakin was the first to actually go inside, so he turned his head.

Light refreshments and two chairs were prepared on the outside balcony where they arrived. As usual, he was going to guard from behind his master’s chair, but she tapped the empty chair with her hand.

“Sit down. It’s the seat I left for you to sit on.”

Even if he sat there, the security would not be neglected. But it took a while for him to sit next to his master. However, because his master’s order always came first over his personal concerns, Anakin sat down without hesitation.

After a while, beautiful fireworks exploded with a loud sound. The flames burning with different colours caught Anakin’s attention.

And the warm body temperature invaded him. As he turned his head, the flashing lights were colouring his master’s white face.

She grabbed Anakin’s hand once, then opened it. Her red lips twitched several times as if she was about to say something.

“Hey, Anakin… Do you know?”

Anakin didn’t know anything. Why did she choose him out of so many people, why did she treat him the same way when she said she only brought him there to die instead of her, she didn’t care about anyone… So why was she curious about his story??

He wanted his master to let him know.

The reason for all these questions.

“I, to you…”

The sound of an explosion cut her off. Anakin instinctively embraced her in his arms and protected her from the heat and shock.

People’s screams rang out. When he raised her, who could not yet control herself in shock, magic poured out of the sky. His master staggered and stepped back from him when he cut a flying monster.

“I can walk alone. Anakin, escort me. A carriage… No, can a carriage travel now? Let’s get out of here first.”

“Okay.”

The voices of people trying to cope with the sudden situation rang in the academy.

Soon, light poured out of the spire and covered the entire academy, perhaps because something was triggered.

He could see the monster that collided with the field and bounced off without being able to get out.

He held his master’s hand, which kept stopping with an anxious face, and said,

“We’ll get out of here safely. Don’t worry.”

But it must not have been his master’s own safety that she was worried about. She looked back again and again at people’s screams. If his master wanted, he would go deal with the monsters, but he was worried about what would happen to her while he was away.

He heard that the academy was also conducting military training in preparation for this situation. When he told her that fact, his master also hurried her steps, as if she was convinced.

The back door was open, but the magic field was blocking them. Anakin touched the hard magic field for a moment.

It was rather fortunate that it was physically hard.

If it was something that had no form and could not be escaped, it might not have been possible to cut it.

As soon as he cut down the field, he could feel a gaze somewhere. However, there was no time to pay attention to this. First of all, he had to escape from this place.

Perhaps his master felt it, but she didn’t want to worry about it. She tightly held Anakin’s hand, which had fallen for a while.

There was no way the carriage could be caught in the midst of confusion.

However, the distance to the mansion was quite far, so it seemed difficult for his master to run. It was a carriage that carried his master firmly and ran to arrive as soon as possible.

Demons were running towards them. After contemplating for a moment whether he should put down his master and draw his sword, she turned to Anakin.

“Anakin! Turn your body around!”

As he turned around straight away, a sound of shooting came from above his head. Anakin held her firmly so as to not be shaken by the rebound. The third sound of the shooting exploded in the head of the monster, and his master dropped the gun on the floor as her hand was shaking.

But neither of them looked back. He only caught his breath after arriving at the mansion. When he managed to calm himself down, the imperial knights rushed into the mansion. It was an ominous night.

Anakin, who could only survive by looking at the eyes of others, was acquired and alert to ‘ominous signs’.

When the attendant separated him from his master, Anakin instinctively had a premonition that something bad was about to happen.

So Anakin began to memorise his path from then on. He was going straight back to his master. The servant went round and round for a long time from his master’s room, and then guided him to the far end of the room.

“Don’t come out of this room.”

The servant said sternly and left the room……. He heard the door close and lock. Shortly after the servant left, he felt someone else stopping in front of the door.

As soon as he confirmed that he was being watched, Anakin headed towards the window. He would be able to break it, but that would increase the commotion. Anakin clenched his teeth and pulled the latch.

Shaking his tingling hands and pulling himself out of the window, Anakin went straight back the way he had come. He was a little confused because he was outside the building, but the experience of living in a back alley that was entangled in a complicated way helped.

“Who is it?”

He cut down the knights patrolling the outskirts and ran after them. Anakin, I need you. Right now. His master’s voice was faintly heard.

He ran out of breath and finally looked up at where he could feel his master’s presence. It was on the second floor, but since it was the imperial palace with such a high ceiling, it would actually be about three stories high.

Anakin put his hand against the wall without hesitation. Since he was in the Imperial Palace, there was nothing to climb up the wall to prevent the assassination, but it was not the time to consider about that.

Anakin, who had been fumbling and measuring the wall for a while, let his sword flow through the dagger attached to his waist. And broke the sword he always carried in half.

He had never held another sword since he sold his clothes and bought this sword for the first time.

Although it was a sword that had a special meaning to him in many ways, he had no choice but to let it hit the wall with its original length.

Anakin gripped the sword, which was roughly the same length as the dagger, and breathed in. Then he slammed it hard against the wall.

Although he was holding a sword, his hand was sore because it was the imperial palace wall that was so hard. Anakin clenched his teeth and swung the dagger again. He had nowhere to go, so he had to climb up with only his arm strength.

With one arm, he pulled out the sword that was deeply engraved, and then he put it back on the wall….. By the time he reached the open window, he was already drenched in sweat.

As soon as he crossed the window, he ran to his master. As soon as she saw Anakin, she was noticeably relieved, but still held the vase piece tightly in her hand.

“I’m sorry. The knight led me to a distant place, so I was waiting there. I was nervous about something, so I tried to get out, but the door was locked and I was late to come back to this distant place.”

The floor was a mess with blood dripping from her hand as she lingered around the room for so long.

If he knew this would happen, he would have hurried a little more. Anakin took a handkerchief out of his pocket. It was a great relief that the handkerchief was not sweaty.

“Near the Empress’ Palace…… There is a big mirror. I need you to bring that. Is there any sign of someone outside?”

“There is not.”

“Then bring a mirror without being caught by anyone. If you don’t think you can move that mirror, bring any other mirror. As soon as possible.”

“Okay.”

When he opened the door, there was no one in the palace, unlike usual. He even felt like they had intentionally emptied the palace.

Rather than taking the risk of being discovered because the distance to the Empress’ Palace was quite long, Anakin opened the door as much as possible and began to look for a large mirror. Then, he found a full-body mirror in the corner of the room and moved it.

When he brought it to his master, she stood in front of the mirror and called Medea. The mirror rattled, and soon she held his master’s hand and the witch squeezed herself out of the mirror.

As soon as the witch came out, she drew a circle on the floor. As she knocked on the floor, other witches appeared with a burning light.

His master waved the bronze bell they gave her, but strangely, Anakin couldn’t hear anything.

The same was true of the spells of the witches.

Perhaps he was not even allowed to hear.

He could only vaguely guess that everything was over after his master finally dropped the bell.

While the witches and his master were talking, Anakin went to the door and remained alert to see if anyone was coming in. He knew that even if someone came in, the witches would kill them.

Finally, the red-haired witch called him. Anakin looked at his master and his master beckoned him. He moved only after seeing the gesture. The other witch smiled a little when she saw it.

“All other ‘people’ won’t remember. It isn’t there in the first place. I hope you make a satisfactory choice this time.”

His master grabbed his hand. Anakin tried not to let go. Anakin didn’t know what happened to her while he was away from her for a while.

This was because if his master didn’t tell him, Anakin wouldn’t ask. It must have been so tense and dangerous that it was impossible to get out of the situation without killing him.

It was Anakin’s mistake to put his master in such a situation. He should have killed the servant who was watching him earlier and escaped.

If he had come a little faster, something might have changed. Not even sure, but just a possibility weighed heavily on Anakin’s chest.

He chewed so much that blood dripped from his mouth. Anakin secretly swore. He wouldn’t put blood on her hands again.

Before his master tried to kill anyone, he would surely cut them first. That was why Anakin was chosen.
