Appearing in a whirlwind, in the middle of his lair, the masked man sat down on the ground while his faithful Zetsu seemed to sprout from the ground.

"Tobi," White Zetsu said. “You’re being a little secretive…”

“You didn't tell us that you were planning to save Fugaku Uchiha,” Black Zetsu added.

Tobi remained silent, thoughtful.

“I loved how people reacted when he disappeared,” White Zetsu sneered. “They were shocked. Even the Yondaime was surprised…”

“What's going on?” Black Zetsu interrupted, staring at Tobi with his one white eye.

Tobi stood up.

“So Fugaku Uchiha is still alive…”

“Don't pretend you didn’t know.” White Zetsu sneered.

But Black Zetsu remained silent, his gaze not leaving Tobi.

“Izanagi?” Tobi guessed.

“Impossible,” Black Zetsu instantly replied. “He didn’t activate his Sharingan.”

"So where is he?"

Jiraiya had just appeared at Mount Myoboku via the summoning jutsu.

“Where is he?” The Sannin asked.

“He's gone,” Gamaken, who had just summoned him, replied.

“And no one stopped him?!”

“Do not worry. He will not remember this place. The old man saw to it personally.”

“That's not the problem... I would have liked to take advantage of the situation to ask him some questions…”

“I’m sorry,” Gamaken said. “I am clumsy…”

Jiraiya lowered his head.

"No," he whispered. “Anyway, knowing his character, he wouldn't have answered my questions.”

Jiraiya went to lean against a giant mushroom.

"Why did you summon me, then?"

“To tell you that the funeral has been postponed…”

“What?!”

“And that the old Sennin invites you to listen to his speech.”

“A speech?”

“You will not be disappointed. There is only one per century. It's very instructive, believe me. The last one I attended taught me a lot. I'm not very smart but…”

“Wait,” Jiraiya interrupted. “Since when are you over a century old?”

“Me? Over a century old? Forgive me, Jiraiya, but I still have a long way to go to reach…”

“You just told me the old man’s last speech was a century ago. If so, how could you have attended it?”

Gamaken closed his eyes.

“Forgive me; I'm clumsy... In fact, this speech is premature.”

“Yeah? Why?”

“Nobody knows…”

Jiraiya crossed his arms. This famous speech of the old toad interested him.

“When is it?”

“Tomorrow.”

"So that's why the funeral was postponed," Jiraiya said.

In Konoha, oddly enough, Fugaku's disappearance seemed to have eased the tensions. The Sandaime and Yondaime were talking in the Hokage office.

“It's only temporary. The wounds will remain deeply engraved, ready to open at the slightest incident. We have to be vigilant.” Hiruzen said.

Two individuals were facing each other in the Uchiha district, ready to fight. They were teenagers but seemingly credible enough that a crowd had formed around them.

“You? Leader of the Uchihas? You’ll have to beat me before…” The youngest said.

“Sorry, I have better things to do.”

“Are you scared?”

“Well, if you insist…”

Both activated their Sharingan.

“Inabi, Tekka, that's enough,” Mikoto, who had just arrived, said. “In the absence of Fugaku, the role of clan leader and chief of the police falls to me.”

“Oh?” One of them replied, unconvinced.

“And who decided this?” The other added.

There was a loud thud, then the two men were pinned to the ground within seconds.

"It's me," Mikoto replied, her red eyes twinkling. “Don't force me to repeat myself.”

The two retreated under the dumbfounded eyes of the Uchiha crowd. Mikoto left without a word, discreetly beckoning a young man in his twenties to follow her. Once away, she stared at him gravely.

“Yakumi, you must know... I have a family and leading the clan alone will be difficult.”

“Of course, Mikoto-senpai.”

“I know how loyal you are to the Uchiha clan, and I also know that you've never harbored any particular ambitions…”

Mikoto put a hand on his shoulder.

“That's why I would like you to help me.”

“It will be an honor,” the young Yakumi replied, bowing.

“Fugaku said a lot of good things about you. And I trust his judgment.”

A tear ran down Mikoto's cheek who immediately walked away.

“I will not betray your trust, Mikoto-senpai,” Yakumi concluded, a hand over his heart.

The Hyuga clan was still grieving. The funeral of Hizashi and his wife had just ended.

“Neji, where are you?” Hiashi said to himself as he left the funeral.

The next day, a toad came to tell Minato that he was expected at Mount Myoboku. He explained the reasons for the invitation. Minato had the same surprised reaction as Jiraiya when he learned that the funeral had simply been postponed until he understood the reasons.

“You will be summoned in a few moments at Mount Myoboku. You can refuse the invitation, in which case you just have to tell me, and I will re-summon you here afterward.”

Minato was silent for a moment. The seconds passed, and Kushina like the toad seemed eager to know his answer. Minato looked up.

“I accept.”

Kushina smiled at him as he winked at her before disappearing.

The toad turned to Kushina.

“You weren't invited, because we thought that as a mother it would be difficult.”

“Oh don’t worry, I understand,” Kushina said with a big smile on her lips. “I have a lot of things planned for today.”

The toad greeted her and left. With Naruto in her arms, Kushina went to the Uchiha clan, where four people were waiting for her. A young man as well as a child and his mother, who held an infant in her arms.

“He left? Mikoto asked, a determined smile on her face.

“Yes, are you ready?”

“Sure. This is Yakumi from the Konoha Police Department. He was Fugaku's second in command and kindly agreed to help me. And tonight, he'll play the role of babysitter…”

Mikoto chuckled.

“With these two here to protect them, Naruto and Sasuke do not risk anything,” Mikoto added as he handed Sasuke to Itachi.

“You'd better watch him well,” Kushina threatened, gently placing the little Naruto in Yakumi's arms. “And be careful when you hold him.”

Yakumi had turned as red as Kushina's hair. He wasn’t expecting such a first mission under Mikoto's orders.

“Alright, let's go.”

Minato had appeared at Mount Myoboku and discovered for the first time this strange world that Jiraiya had told him about. Since his arrival, toads of all sizes and ages have been heading in one direction.

“Jiraiya-sensei,” he whispered to him. “What are they doing?”

“It's time, Minato. Gamabunta summoned you just in time.”

Gamabunta blew out a large amount of smoke from his pipe, then joined the crowd.

“Let’s get moving too.”

In the depths of a cave cut off from the world, far from any light, a similar scene was taking place. Numerous snakes were waiting for the rare speech of their sage to begin.

On the surface of the earth, in an area of dense, humid forest where the only sound came from the water flowing in the river, the slugs moved slowly in all directions as the Slug Queen prepared to speak.

Kushina and Mikoto had just arrived on a plain, far from the village.

“Are you ready, Kushina?”

“Of course I am. Are you?”

“We'll see.”

They faced each other and took their fighting stance.

“I have to awaken it, like Fugaku before me. I have to earn my title. You are the best opponent for this, Kushina.”

“I return the compliment, Mikoto. Only you can make me stronger. But not a word to Minato about this.”

“You can count on my silence. I won't brag about having humiliated you, Kushina,” Mikoto said with a wink.

“Do not push me to fight seriously!”

“You're not the first jinchuriki I've faced! Young Yugito from Kumo will remember me for a long time.”

“Then bring it on.”

“Enough talking.”

“Yeah, here we go!”

Jiraiya and Minato had found a place among the mass of toads. From there, they could roughly see old Sennin, sitting on the throne, holding a crystal ball.

“Dear toad friends... Excuse me, mighty warriors of Mount Myoboku. I stand here before you for a meeting of an exceptional nature…”

In the Ryuchi cave, not a single reptile disturbed the speech of the White Snake Sage.

“As you know, since the creation of this world, four powers have been released. We represent the most accomplished form of one of them.”

The Shikkotsu forest breathed peace. The Queen of Slugs, in her small voice, had already begun her speech.

“The other three powers have, as each of you knows, been scattered and have maintained the balance of this world for a long time. Since I was born.”

“Amaterasu!”

Kushina used her chakra barrier to counter the black flames.

“Not bad,” Mikoto blurted out. “But wait until I awakened it, you won’t be able to stop the true Amaterasu.”

“All I hear is talking,” Kushina sneered, but she remained focused.

Although this duel was friendly, it was between two terrifying forces and the slightest mistake could be very costly.

“I am the only Uchiha who can use Amaterasu with a simple Sharingan. That's why you saw it coming like a simple Katon.”

“You want to impress me with your beautiful words? I can deal with your black flames. And what else can you do?” Kushina said.

"Black lightning. Raiton, Black Panther."

A gigantic black panther made of lightning charged straight at Kushina but was blocked by the chakra chains, which seemed to attract lightning.

“A jutsu copied from a Kumo shinobi. He wasn't very happy that I humiliated their jinchuriki, so he came after me.” Mikoto explained.

“Well, It’s even weaker than your flames…”

“It’s normal. My flames are a Kekkei Genkai based on black lightning and fire. Do you want to see it again? Here it is!”

Minato was impressed by the old sage toad who seemed to hide incomparable wisdom, having even known the origins of the world.

"However," the old toad continued, “for some reasons that we all don't know, it seems that this balance has been broken. The natural energy is disturbed. An event has occurred; an event of an exceptional nature. Our role is to discover its nature by looking everywhere. No detail should escape us.”

All the snakes knew they were witnessing an extraordinary event.

“The past,” The White Snake Sage added.

The slugs drank the words of their leader.

“The present,” the Queen of Slugs continued.

All the toads were attentive.

“And the future,” The toad sage said. “No detail should escape us,” he repeated.

Kushina and Mikoto were exhausted. The ground was littered with chakra chains and scorched with black flames. It looked like a battlefield.

Kushina screamed as she launched her chakra chains at Mikoto. The chains were innumerable, far more numerous than when she faced Orochimaru. From a distance, it looked like a gigantic spider's web.

Mikoto leaped into the air and began to zigzag between the chains that bent, twisted, tried to grab her, wrap around her, and trap her. But her agility was such that she managed to pass between.

Suddenly she saw that she was not alone in this space of chains. Countless Kushina clones swooped down on her. She delivered several punches and kicks making them disappear one after another while dodging the chains' multiple attacks. A new wave of clones appeared, but this time Mikoto had no difficulty stopping them, they were disappearing quickly.

“This information is of utmost importance…” The White Snake Sage continued.

The wind was blowing. A storm was approaching at Shikkotsu Forest.

"Because if the balance were to be upset..." the Queen of Slugs whispered.

The toads' eyes were all on their leader, waiting to hear the next words.

“It would be…”

The three Sages were silent for a moment before concluding...

“The end of this world.”

Kushina's chakra chains fell on the ground. She was getting tired. Her chakra was amazing. But her techniques consumed a lot of it. Mikoto was ready to take advantage of the situation when she suddenly saw that chakra was slowly leaking from Kushina’s body. Kyubi was taking advantage of its jinchuriki’s weakness.

“Sharingan!”

There was a commotion as soon as the old toad finished the speech. Jiraiya ran to meet the Sennin.

“Ogama Sennin, you talk about the end of the world, but what about my prophecy!”

The nearest toads fell silent, following Jiraiya with their gaze, intrigued.

“You have never been wrong about a prophecy. You have spoken of a chosen one. If there is a chosen one in the future, it means there must be a future!”

The old toad turned to him.

“Oh... My boy, I remember you. But what prophecy are you talking about? I have never made such a prophecy.”

“Don't tell me you've already forgotten?!” Jiraiya said angrily.

“Jiraiya, the old man never forgets a prophecy,” Gamahiro said beside him. “All he forgets are the events of life.”

“But…”

“The old man needs to rest,” Gamahiro added. “I think you misinterpreted his words. If the old man doesn't remember your prophecy, it simply doesn't exist.”

Jiraiya lowered his head, not insisting any further. Minato thought of the two old toads who were killed in his house.

The natural energy would be disturbed? Could it be the reason for their death? Minato thought as Gamabunta joined him.

Kyubi, locked in the dimension of Kushina's seal, groaned with satisfaction at Kushina's fatigue.

“It's too easy... You're too weak, Kushina.”

But the woman simply smiled at him.

“Hi, Kyubi!” Mikoto said.

“This chakra…”

Kyubi howled with rage.

“Hey, Jiraiya. You should be happy. With Minato, you are the only two humans to have been able to attend such a speech.” Gamabunta said.

But the toad was wrong.
