“As a member of the Konoha Police, I must arrest you, Hizashi Hyuga.” Mikoto warned.
Hizashi assumed his fighting stance. Orochimaru chuckled.
To keep Kushina immobile, I can't join the fight, the Sannin thought.
“So, which of the Hyuga and the Uchiha is the best clan?” He asked with a smile.
As an answer, Hizashi charged Mikoto and tried to strike her Tenketsus. She dodged his attacks without much difficulty thanks to her Sharingan coupled with her unparalleled agility.
Mikoto began waving hand seals.
“Katon, Phoenix Flower Jutsu!”
A volley of small fireballs shot toward Hizashi who couldn't dodge them all. The Hyuga emitted chakra from all of his body’s Tenketsus as he rotated on himself to repel the fire technique. Mikoto swiftly closed the distance between them as soon as the man's chakra defense disappeared.
Kushina was impressed by the speed of the two opponents. Hizashi Hyuga was among the best of his clan when it comes to the Gentle Fist, the Hyuga combat style. On the other end, Mikoto was even faster, although her punches had less power. The two complemented each other wonderfully. While one sent blows with each having the ability to injure vital organs, the other avoided the blows, as if she saw them coming in advance.
So that’s what an Uchiha and Hyuga can do… Orochimaru thought, licking his lips.
Kushina turned to him, in tears.
“Please,” she begged. “You were such a big figure in Konoha... Please leave Naruto out of this!”
Orochimaru looked at her. His eyes narrowed with excitement. Kushina was shaking with rage, fear, and sadness.
“Please!” She begged again, tears flowing down her cheeks.
Seeing her constantly imploring him gave Orochimaru the mad desire to annihilate the little life he held in his hand. It would have been so easy, and so fun… He was however well aware it would be a big mistake. And killing the infant wasn’t his goal. Moreover, without Naruto, nothing would hold Kushina back from using her Biju's power.
Hizashi and Mikoto's fight had reached such a level of speed that it was impossible to see their attacks clearly.
His Taijutsu is exceptional, Mikoto analyzed. As a member of the branch family, he has nothing to envy Hiashi in this area... Even with my Sharingan, I can't manage to gain the upper hand.
In a few quick jumps, she distanced herself, but Hizashi took the opportunity to rush straight at Kushina, already trapped by Orochimaru's snakes.
He's going to kill her! The Uchiha thought.
Without any hesitation, she jumped on Hizashi who immediately spun around and hit her in the chest. The young woman tumbled over and spat blood into her hand, but Hizashi was rushing toward her to finish the job.
“Kuchiyose No Jutsu.”
Black cats suddenly appeared from the summoning technique. Hizashi frowned.
"The Cursed Cats of Matatabi."
“Do you know what they say?” Mikoto asked, blood coming from her mouth. “These cats were born from the two-tailed itself!”
She spat out another trickle of blood.
“They have the power to extract the last breath of life from their victim by making him live his worst nightmares. Also, they are not in the habit of letting go of a prey.”
The eyes of two cats sparkled in the dark as they stared at Hizashi. He couldn't hold back his terror.
“Give up.”
But, seeing that Hizashi didn't seem at all determined to surrender, they spread themselves around him and sat up confidently.
“I didn't think I would take them out against you. But you're a powerful Hyuga, and you tried to attack Kushina. I must end this as soon as possible. You are too dangerous.”
Kushina watched the scene; her eyes wide open.
“Mikoto, stop!”
But the grip of the snakes increased, preventing her from saying more.
Mikoto, you don't understand. His son… Neji. Kushina could only lament in her mind.
Hizashi tried to keep calm and analyze the situation.
Two cats... They're just two little cats. He thought.
He tried to locate them with his Byakugan. One was in front, the other behind, and a third on his right…
"What’s going on?” The Hyuga asked confused.
“When the four cats are together, you will die.”
Mikoto's eyes shone with as much intensity as those of her cursed cats.
"How is it possible? My Byakugan didn't see it coming.”
With an angry gesture, he threw a kunai at one of the cats. The cat didn't move and kept staring at him unblinkingly. And the kunai missed it.
Is that a Genjutsu?! Hizashi thought, trying to calm down.
He focused and still saw three cats in his field of vision. Reassured, he turned to Mikoto, who was just as motionless as her cats and prepared to charge her when he saw, in front of her, the fourth cat, sitting like the others, staring at him as if he were a mere mouse.
Panicked, he turned around, trying to escape this hell. He was surrounded. He heard a sort of shrill laughter. Was it the cats? No, it couldn't be them. They remained impassive and motionless. The noise was omnipresent. Time seemed to slow down. He covered his ears. The laughter continued even more. He was starting to lose his mind. He was going crazy. This laughter, these cats, he couldn't take it anymore.
He fell to his knees, his ears plugged, his eyes closed, and remained motionless.
Kushina was shocked by the scene. Hizashi was dying of his own madness.

What an awful ending, the Uzumaki thought.
Mikoto deactivated her Sharingan. All four cats then jumped on Hizashi, lacerating him from all sides, and tearing his body to shreds. One of the most powerful Hyugas was nothing more than an inert and mangled body.
Mikoto finally advanced slowly towards him, tired.
“It's over.”
But the cats kept attacking, scratching, and biting as if they wanted the body to disappear forever. Kushina was surprised by their behavior and, curiously, Mikoto too. Intrigued, she squatted near Hizashi's body. The beauty of his Byakugan contrasted with the state of his body that the cats kept scratching. But the weirdest thing was the veins around his Byakugan remained intact.
His Dojutsu is still active, she thought suddenly.
She jumped back, activating her Sharingan again, as the cats were sent flying from the Hyuga’s body with a powerful chakra blast.
"Amazing, his body is regenerating."
The scratches and bites were disappearing. But most impressive was his Byakugan. The irises had grown so large that they were the size of the entire eyes.
“No one will touch Neji.”
"This chakra…” Mikoto noticed. “How?”
“I'm sorry, Mikoto. But you leave me no choice.”
So this is the true power of the Byakugan? I had never seen it before, even from Hiashi. The Uchiha thought.
Orochimaru licked his lips with a delightful expression.
“Interesting..."
Hizashi assumed his fighting stance.
“Few survive my summoning combined with Genjutsu,” Mikoto acknowledged. “But, as powerful as you are, I know the weak point of the Byakugan.”
Suddenly, the cats started circling Hizashi, randomly charging at him to force him to move until...
Now! Mikoto thought.
Her hand, which was holding a kunai, was located precisely in the blind spot of the Byakugan that she knew well. With a quick gesture, she threw it at full speed at Hizashi. It was too late for him to see it.
The kunai was about to hit its target behind the head when it was violently expelled by a burst of chakra.
Precisely the right timing and the right area… How did he see it coming? Mikoto pondered, a bit shocked.
Hizashi turned around, determined to end things.
He's not the same anymore. His chakra is much more powerful, and so are his eyes. I will have to use it. Fugaku, Minato, forgive me…
She rapidly waved a multitude of hand seals.
“Amaterasu!”
Black flames appeared out of nowhere and went straight at Hizashi who was completely covered in them. But, while a normal person should already be on the ground, screaming in pain, Hizashi kept advancing toward Mikoto.
“He regenerates instantly!” Mikoto concluded.
She got away from Hizashi. She was too weak to fight anymore; her Sharingan had gone out. Her back gently collided against a tree in her retreat. She was stuck. Hizashi continued to advance, but he was visibly aging.
"Neji," he whispered, his tears instantly vaporized by the black flames. “I'm so sorry.”
Arriving in front of Mikoto, he collapsed, dead. His regeneration speed couldn’t keep up with the constant damage of the black flames. The dark fire continued consuming his bruised body. Mikoto fell to her knees, totally drained.
From a nearby tree, an eye hidden in the darkness had been observing the scene.
"What was that attack?"
“Amaterasu, the Heavenly Illumination. It's an attack from the Mangekyo Sharingan, but... this woman doesn't possess it. She waved hand seals to perform it without the Mangekyo Sharingan…”
“And why did they kill each other when they are friends?” White Zetsu asked again.
“Misunderstanding,” Black Zetsu replied. “What you see here is the cause of all wars. That's why humanity must be put to sleep…”
Orochimaru, impressed by the fight, smiled and licked his lips.
“What great entertainment. I underestimated the Hyuga clan. Their power is worth studying.”
“You monster!” Kushina screamed, tears in her eyes. “They were friends.”
Orochimaru grinned broadly, put little Naruto down on the ground, and summoned one of his snakes, which coiled him up harmlessly and pulled the baby away slightly.
“I must admit that the Uchiha impressed me too. I will have to finish what the Hyuga started.”
He took a step forward towards Mikoto, his snakes still surrounding Kushina, but as he lifted his other leg, he fell.
"What are... chakra chains?!"
Kushina finally broke free. During the fight, she had set up chakra chains under the ground and around one of Orochimaru's legs, waiting for the moment when the Sannin decided to move.
The Sannin stood up. Kushina was facing him.
"This is getting interesting." Black Zetsu muttered.
