Mikoto was lying on the ground, barely conscious. She opened one eye and stared at the scene unfolding before her. Kushina and Orochimaru were face to face, ready for battle.
Be careful, Kushina... Your adversary will be more formidable than mine… The Uchiha thought.
She also had a thought for Hizashi. She had killed him… But she was too tired to grasp all the potential consequences. A baby's cry awoke her maternal instinct. Little Naruto was in the grip of a snake that was staring at him wickedly. She had to get him away from the fight. She started crawling toward the baby, but her arms and legs seemed glued to the ground as she lacked strength. Her head fell, her eyes closed, and she lost consciousness.
“Don't worry Naruto,” Kushina said in a soft voice, in response to the baby's cries. “Mom will soon take you home.”
Tears sparkled in her eyes, but her gaze had changed. Facing Orochimaru, she was no longer a frightened woman, but a determined mother.
“Kushina Uzumaki,” Orochimaru hissed. “As a Sannin, I remember hearing that your level at the Academy was rather weak.”
He bowed, displaying fake politeness.
“It seems that you are not very good at Ninjutsu,” he sneered.
Kushina ripped off her dress, revealing her battle uniform underneath.
“I may be bad at Ninjutsu, but I’m strong enough to defeat you, Orochimaru!”
“I would like to see you try…”
Countless Chakra chains came out of the ground over a radius of several meters. Orochimaru was trapped and tied up, without even having time to move. Chains wrapped around the snake that held Naruto at bay, squeezing it with such force that it instantly died. Other chains arced around Naruto.
“Naruto is protected,” Kushina said with a small smile.
The chains around Orochimaru tightened even more until he couldn't breathe.
“Looks like the snake is choking!” The Uzumaki commented, looking at his opponent.
The pressure of the chains increased again.
"Looks like you're wrong,” a voice hissed in her ear, while the mud clone surrounded by the chains returned to its original state.
Kushina turned around, but too late. Orochimaru's neck lengthened, and his face came to bite the young woman in the nape of the neck. Kushina resisted for a few moments, despite the effectiveness of the surprise attack. Suddenly, she disappeared in a cloud of smoke.
"Impressive," Orochimaru commented. “Her Kage Bunshin was incredibly resilient. Her chakra is really special.”
He stood ready to attack again.
"Even if I only want to capture her, I have to fight seriously."
Kushina was standing a little further away, near the bodies of Mikoto and Hizashi.
“You got the wrong target, Orochimaru!”
She glanced at Naruto.
“I am very angry now, ya know!” She yelled.
New chains suddenly flew in all directions, surrounding Orochimaru again.
“What an idiot,” Orochimaru thought, hiding in a tree. “She gives everything she had against a simple mud clone.”
Two other mud clones were also waiting in the trees, ready to show themselves, in turn, to force the young woman to exhaust herself.
“Orochimaru,” Kushina smiled, seeing the clone in front of her destroyed under the pressure of the chains. “You made three mistakes.”
Orochimaru felt the tree he was standing on shaking.
“The first is that you're trying to wear me out... Me, an Uzumaki.”
Her voice was composed. She had regained confidence. Her son was no longer in as much danger as before, and obviously, her love of fighting was resurfacing.
“The second is that you think you can trick my senses with clones... Me, an Uzumaki.”
Chains of Chakra shot through the trees to the other two clones who, taken by surprise, exploded into mud under the brutality of the attack.
“The third is that you underestimated the greatest ability of the Uzumakis... Fuinjutsu Seals.
Chains of Chakra shot toward the real Orochimaru who barely managed to shift his position on the tree to avoid them. But the chains, rather than change direction to pursue him again, continued straight on to a high branch of the tree where there was a squirrel. They surrounded the rodent and pulled it by force before gently setting it on another tree.
Flee, little squirrel! Kushina thought as if she could communicate with the animal.
Orochimaru then realized that the tree he stood on was no longer a tree... but black flames.
“Yes, I sealed Mikoto's Amaterasu in that tree, ya know.”
Impossible! She managed to seal such an attack… Orochimaru thought, half consumed by the flames.
He opened his mouth to pull his own body out, unscathed, as the old one finished burning. Exhausted by the technique, Orochimaru, however, had no time to rest. Dark chains seemed to rise from the tree that had turned into black flames and were heading straight for him.
"What?! Did you also seal them in your chakra chains?!" The Sannin asked in surprise.
“Why are you so surprised? It's been a long time since I fought seriously, ya know.”
Orochimaru tried to parry her chakra chains with his snakes, but they were simply burned away. This, however, allowed the man to narrowly dodge the attack.
“You said I was bad at Ninjutsu?”
New chains appeared, made of normal fire this time. Then others, made of water. New ones kept appearing, made of lightning, wind, and rocks.
“I was able to overcome this weakness thanks to my Fuinjutsu. I can seal almost any form of energy into my chakra.”

“The five elements?!” Orochimaru wondered, opening his eyes wide.
Kushina sent all her chains on Orochimaru, at full speed.
“The Uzumakis were so feared for a reason, ya know. What you see here is just my mother's legacy.”
I can't dodge it; it's too fast and within a big radius. The Sannin analyzed.
“Kuchiyose, Triple Rashomon!”
Three gigantic gates appeared in front of Orochimaru and took the brunt of the devastating attack of the elemental chains. The triple defense was destroyed but allowed Orochimaru to avoid the attack.
“Wow! She is super impressive!” White Zetsu commented.
“It's the least we can say…” Black Zetsu answered. “Even a powerful Sannin can only be defensive against her. She is the worthy heiress of the Uzumaki clan.”
“What will Orochimaru do now?”
The Sannin, with a grave face, looking exhausted, stared at Kushina. His smirk was gone.
She is stronger than expected, even without Kyubi. It’s risky, but I have to do it. He thought.
He performed the summoning jutsu again. A massive snake appeared, on which Orochimaru stood. He then pulled a sword out of his mouth. It was the Kusanagi sword.
“Orochimaru!” Manda hissed. “That red-haired woman... What did I tell you?! Do you want me to kill you?”
“Do not worry, she must remain in control if she does not want to accidentally injure her child, Orochimaru replied, glancing at baby Naruto.
Kushina, despite her impressive chakra, was starting to tire.
Maybe I overdid it a little. She thought to herself.
“We often praise the Uzumaki chakra, but you seem to be already at the end of your rope! Orochimaru said, his smile returning.
Kushina looked at him, impressed by Manda's height.
“You know I could trap your snake with my chains.” She sneered.
“It's true, but I don't advise you to do that,” Orochimaru simply replied, pointing his blade at the location where Naruto was.
“This sword is no ordinary sword. I could reach him from here. And I wouldn't count on your chakra protection to stop Kusanagi Blade if I were you. ”
“I will stop you!”
“Oh really? You look exhausted, Kushina. I doubt you can stop Manda and me in your current state.”
Kushina frowned and sprang out her chains as she wrapped them around the snake. Orochimaru was surprised by her action when he had just threatened her son. Kushina was extremely unpredictable.
Should I carry out my threat? Orochimaru wondered.
It was a difficult choice. If he didn't act on what he said, he would lose credibility. But if he did, he would be signing his death warrant with the release of Kyubi’s power.
Too bad, I have to take the risk. The Sannin quickly decided.
The blade extended, but he saw hundreds of links in the chakra chains suddenly transform into clones of Kushina. They all placed themselves between the sword and Naruto.
She had prepared that many clones? I understand now why she looked so fatigued.
As the Sword of Kusanagi extended, digging into the clones, they disappeared one after another.
"Her clones are powerful," Orochimaru noticed again, feeling the blade struggling to cut through them.
The sword’s speed slowed down, but the blade continued to grow regardless. The clones momentarily slowed it down before disappearing. Soon only Kushina's chakra protection would remain between the sword and Naruto, but would that be enough?
The real Kushina, though exhausted, suddenly started running towards the growing sword.
"That's bad," Black Zetsu commented. “Call him now.”
White Zetsu immediately sent chakra through the roots of the tree they hid in.
Kushina was still advancing towards the sword. She managed to join her clones and placed herself between the last one and her chakra barrier, ready to give her life to protect her son.
I'm going to have to kill her; I have no choice now. Orochimaru thought
The last clone exploded and the sword met Kushina, piercing her stomach.
“It's over…” The Sannin said.
Suddenly, the sword disappeared.
"What… What is this power?!" Orochimaru wondered.
But it wasn't Kushina’s. An individual had appeared, a masked man with his Sharingan glowing in the dark.
“The Jinchuriki is my target.” The newcomer said.
Kushina collapsed. Orochimaru opened his eyes wide. Fatigue, surprise, and a bit of fear suddenly gave way to extreme excitement.
“You... You've finally come! He exclaimed, licking his lips with utmost delight. He had achieved his goal of luring out the mysterious masked man with the Sharingan.
