Kushina spat blood. Kusanagi's sword had partially pierced her abdomen. Her vision was blurry, but she could still see the scene unfolding before her.

Orochimaru, from the top of his gigantic snake, stared at the masked man with a fiery gaze, completely forgetting Kushina. Suddenly, to the right of the masked man appeared what looked like a plant with black and white color.

“What a battlefield!” White Zetsu cried.

"You always arrive right on time..." Black Zetsu whispered to the masked man.

His Sharingan was glowing in the dark.

Damn, I'm late again. A teenager suddenly thought sitting on his bed.

He wiped away a tear that ran down his cheek as he put down the photo he was holding.

Grabbing the gift on his table, he stepped out into the cold winter night and raced through the alleys. He entered a small shop.

“Hello, Kakashi. You should hurry up. I'm about to close; little Ino is sick.” The florist said when the teenager arrived.

“Good evening, Mrs. Yamanaka. Don't worry, I'm in a hurry too.”

Quickly choosing a bouquet of white flowers which he paid for, he hurried out.

“Say hello to sir Inoichi for me!” He said as he left the shop.

I must hurry. Hopefully, they haven't already put him to bed. Kakashi thought.

Kakashi, his bouquet in one hand and a gift in the other, continued running until he arrived in front of Minato’s house. The lights were still on. He knocked several times on the door.

“Minato-sensei! It's me, Kakashi... I just got back from a mission!”

No one answered, so he knocked again.

“I brought flowers for your wife, and I have a present for Naruto.”

But the door remained closed. He instantly realized that something was wrong. Usually, Kushina was quick to open whenever she heard that Kakashi was bringing flowers. However, there was nothing now, not even the slightest noise, which was curious for such a family. Moreover, the lights were on. They wouldn’t go out without turning the lights off. Minato never forgot this kind of detail. Pulling a kunai from his pocket, Kakashi cautiously opened the door. He noticed it was broken.

Upon entering, he came across a frightening sight. Little snakes, by the dozen, were lying on the ground, dead. Each of them had a sword sticking out of their mouth. The room was upside down. The teenager realized a confrontation must have taken place.

Kakashi chose to walk on the walls to avoid getting too close to the snakes. He suddenly came across a scene that shocked him. Two toads were dying on the ground. Obviously, they had taken all the blows of the snakes and were covered with wounds, pierced on all sides, and probably poisoned. Seeing them moving, Kakashi got closer to them.

“Young… one,” one of the toads started. “Our powers... disturbed... Couldn’t fully… fight. They have... Naruto... Warn... Minato…”

“Who? Where?”

“Orochimaru…”

The toad coughed, unable to say more.

Kakashi swallowed his saliva. He had always been afraid of the powerful Sannin, who had left Konoha not so long ago.

"Don't panic... Orochimaru is strong, very strong, but he would be no match for Minato-sensei."

“Pa…” The other toad whispered, observing the scene. “Pa... Pa, don't die! Do not leave me!”

"Don't worry, Ma," he replied with difficulty. “Considering your condition, you...will be… joining me soon.”

Those were his last words. Pa was dead.

“Pa!” The other toad called uselessly, tears in her eyes, feeling death approaching. “Pa... I would have liked so much... to make you... one last meal…”

Kakashi ran out to look for Minato. If he wasn't at home, he had to be in the Hokage's office.
He rushed through the streets, jostling people in his path, ignoring their reactions.

He suddenly saw a dark-haired boy in front of him.

“Get out of the way; I’m in a hurry!” Kakashi yelled running at him.

By reflex, the young boy shifted to the left but innocently left his right foot in place, tripping Kakashi. The latter turned around, furious, ready to reprimand the boy, but he changed his mind thinking about his goal.

Finally, he arrived at the Hokage office, out of breath. He crossed the corridors, overtaking the wandering Danzo on the way, and opened the doors without knocking.

“Minato- sensei! I need to talk to you!”

“Minato is not here,” Hiruzen replied calmly, although intrigued by Kakashi's sudden arrival.

“What? Where is he?” Kakashi asked breathlessly.

“At a party. You sound worried. What is it?

Kakashi stared at the old man, thinking he should let the old Hokage know of the situation.

“Minato-sensei's house was attacked in his absence.”

“Attacked?! By whom?”

The door opened for the second time. Kakashi didn't even turn around, seeing from Hiruzen's expression who it was.

“So?” Danzo insisted.

Kakashi ignored him and looked at the Sandaime.

“Orochimaru.”

Hiruzen remained silent for a moment. Danzo too.

“So he came back... But why? What is he looking for?”

The old Hokage suddenly got up and ran out of the door. Kakashi promptly followed him.
Despite his advanced age, Hiruzen was so fast that the teenager had trouble keeping up.

“Kakashi, use your dogs to locate Minato and Orochimaru."

“I can't, they were injured during the mission. They cannot move right now.”

Otherwise, I would have already found Minato-sensei. The teenager thought.

Hiruzen went to the Hyugas. Two members of the clan, seeing them coming from afar, intervened to block their way. But they hastily changed their minds upon recognizing the Sandaime.

He and Kakashi searched for Minato among the Hyugas. It was the teenager who found him first, in the middle of a discussion with Hiashi Hyuga.

“Minato-sensei! Minato-sensei!

He stopped and caught his breath, hands on his knees.

“Kakashi?” Minato wondered, frowning.

Hiashi stood up, annoyed.

"What is he doing here, Minato?"

Minato didn't answer the Hyuga. He had just made the connection between Kushina and Mikoto's long absence alongside a disturbed Hizashi, and Kakashi's sudden arrival at this private party.

“Who?” The Yondaime asked.

“Orochimaru.”

Minato turned to Hiashi.

“Hiashi, it's important. Look in this direction, and tell me if anything is wrong.”

Hiashi cast a questioning look at Minato but understood from his comrade's serious expression that it was important.

“Byakugan.”

He stared into the distance for a few seconds; his face remained impassive until…

“Corpses!”

Minato's heart jumped in his chest.

”Who?”

“Hard to say... There's a lot of chakra scattered everywhere, it's blurring my sight... And also, I got a little drunk…”

He deactivated his Dojutsu.

“There are people standing there. Hard to say who and how many.”

“Let's go.”

Hiruzen, who had separated from Kakashi to find Minato, finally spotted them. The old man joined them as they left the party. Minato led the group with Hiashi on his right, Kakashi on his left, and the Sandaime behind. They were followed by some members of the Hyuga clan. The group rushed straight to the village’s gates.

A little behind, Danzo was following them in the shadows.

In the forest, Kushina felt her eyesight getting blurrier. She was losing a lot of blood and growing weaker by the second.

She suddenly heard a sound. She saw the silhouette of the masked man turn around as a new individual arrived. Judging by the surprised reactions of the people present, the appearance of the newcomer was not expected.

“It seems I’m late.”

Kushina lost consciousness as soon as she heard the voice.
