"Now you are going to have to go prove yourself. This means going to deal with the Infernal Demon. I know it is a big first mark, but I think that you will be fine with a water-based weapon. No pressure, but if you can complete this, then we might get kicked out of the castle. Lord Lachlan has been here to oversee your training only to see if you will become of value to him," Fiona explained after returning with food for me.
While she was gone, I shared a long kissing session with Melty before she went to go soak in the bathtub. I had been left to think about what had happened before, but now that Fiona was back, I was digging into the food as she continued to explain things to me.
"So Lachlan is bad?" I asked, but Fiona shook her head.
"Not bad, just not exactly good. Let's just say that he is keeping human interests at heart, and as noble as that sounds, he doesn't see any place in the world for monsters. That isn't really fair since many of them aren't really dangerous, and some just want to be left alone, but human curiosity gets the better of them sometimes," Fiona explained, and I nodded along as I kept plopping grapes in my mouth.
The moment I started eating, it was hard to stop. Even with the pill that I had been given, I felt like a bottomless pit. Fiona seemed to take notice and started to stack more food onto my plate when I cleared it.
"I think that you should probably head out now if you want to make it in time. Lachlan said that the Infernal Demon has been terrorizing a small village not too far from here, so you should be able to find it easily enough," Fiona explained as she handed me a map before kissing me on the cheek.
I nodded before folding up the map and putting it in my pocket. I stood up, and Melty came back into the room, still nude with her hair wet. Fiona gave her a happy and warm smile, making Melty giggle, and hugged me from behind while resting her chin on my shoulder.
"Be careful out there!" Fiona said before giving me a long kiss on the lips before turning and leaving the room, leaving Melty and me alone.
"Ready to go?" Melty asked, and I nodded as she pulled on a white dress and then reached her hand to me after I got my clothes on.
I took it, and she burst into light and then became the glass sword in my hand.
[Place me to your side, and I will attach myself to your side.]
I did what Melty said and placed the blade to my side, where she then attached herself like some kind of holster almost. I could feel a bond now connecting us, and it felt really strange but also really nice in a way that I couldn't explain.
"So, where is this place we are going?" I asked, and Melty showed me an image in my mind of a small village that looked like it was in the middle of nowhere.
"That looks like it is a day's walk from here," I said after getting my bearings, and Melty nodded.
[Yes, but with me attached to you, we can travel much faster since I can take us there.]
"Okay then... let's go!" I said as I headed out of the room and made my way down to the entrance of the castle.
I had been here for a few weeks, and There was Fiona and Queen Melodious, that had summoned me, plus Lachlan, that appeared whenever he felt like showing up, but no one else. The castle was no small place, but I had barely explored any parts that I wasn't guided to. Not like this was the time for that, but in the future, I would like to see what else was in this strange place and why it was so empty.
There was so much that I still didn't know, but if I wanted to have a chance to learn any of it, I was going to have to take care of this Infernal Demon.
Once I was at the castle doors, I left the place, but when I was almost at the gate that led down to the town, I stopped and turned around to get a good look at the castle. It was big and imposing but also really beautiful in a way. I knew that there was more to this place than meets the eye, but I would have to explore it another time.
I turned back around and left the castle behind me as I started to make my way to town, but there wasn't a lot of activity. That was probably because the sun had only just come up over the castle, and it was a bit chilly out, but it wasn't too cold.
Most people were probably still asleep in their homes, but I was on a mission. I had to find this Infernal Demon and slay it before it could do any more damage. This was my first real test as Hunter and with my new weapon, the Water Blade of Ripple, so I had to make sure that I passed with flying colors.

[I know that you can do this. I have faith in you.]
Melty's voice sounded in my mind, and I nodded as I started to pick up the pace, and before long, I was out of town and on my way to the village that Melty showed me. It looked like it was going to be a long walk, but with Melty's help, I started to skate across barren plains with large rock formations.
The further I got from the town, the more wildlife I started to see. There were large beasts that I had never seen before and small creatures that looked almost like rodents scurrying around in the grass, but nothing really too dangerous looking.
I did have to be careful of where I stepped, though, since there were large pits with things moving around inside them, but as long as I stayed on the path, then I should be fine. This place was definitely different from my old world for sure, but it was also really beautiful in its own way.
Eventually, the village came into view, and it looked just like Melty showed me; it was a small settlement with maybe a few hundred people living there at most, by my estimation. It looked peaceful enough from here, at least, so hopefully, that meant that the Infernal Demon hadn't hit this place yet.
As soon as we entered the town, everyone stopped what they were doing to look at me in confusion since I wasn't exactly dressed like locals. I was wearing tight black pants with melty in blade form attached to my belt and a white shirt and black vest. Fiona changed my clothes on me without me even knowing, but they were important right now.
"Who are you, stranger?" one of the men in the crowd called out to me, and I stepped forward to answer.
"My name is Azriel, and I'm here to deal with the Infernal Demon that has been terrorizing your village," I explained as confidently as possible, even though my heart was racing in my chest.
This was definitely a lot different from killing small animals for their pelts; this was an actual monster that could probably kill me if I wasn't careful, but Fiona did say that Melty would help me. I had also been training for this with Lord Lachlan, but I still didn't know what his angle was yet, or if I should trust him.
"How do we know that you can do it? We had had people come before who said they would help us, but they all failed," another man spoke up, and there were murmurs of agreement from the others.
"I'm not like those other people; I also don't see anyone else looking to step up to take my place. I am just here to get some information on the demon and where I can find it. I don't need anything else," I explained, and the people all visibly relaxed. I guess that they have had people come here before and say they were going to help but only took, with no results.
"I'm glad to see that someone is finally going to do something about that monster. It has been terrorizing us for weeks now, and we have no idea how to stop it," one of the women spoke up, and there were nods of agreement from the others.
"Can you tell me what it looks like and where I can find it?" I asked, but they all just shook their heads.
"No one has ever seen what it looks like; all we know is that when night falls, it comes out and starts destroying random things and terrorizing people. We have tried to fight back against it, but nothing seems to work," an older man explained, and again there were nods of agreement from the others; evidently, this thing was more powerful than anyone realized if they couldn't even put up a fight against It.
"Don't worry; I'll take care of this for you," I said confidently, even though my heart was pounding in my chest at the thought of fighting something that no one had ever seen before.
[Just be careful.]
Melty's voice sounded in my mind as if she could sense my apprehension, which only made me feel better since at least I wasn't alone in this anymore.
"Thank you, Azriel. We are all in your debt," the old man said before everyone started to disperse and go back to their business; I guess they had given up hope long ago that anyone would ever be able to help them since no one ever has before, but I was different.
I wasn't going to give up until this thing was dead, even if it killed me in the process. But I was going to try really hard not to die.
That didn't sound like fun, and I wanted to forge more weapons!
