[Are you really against killing humans? Are they really that different from us? There are some bad apples in every bunch, you know?] Melty asked as she remained a sword at my side.

"No, I know that you and the rest probably have families or something like them, but the difference is that the humans are the only ones that have gathered settlements. If I start taking on human marks, I might become shunned from all places that humans gather. I am sure that I could make it on my own; it is not just me that I am worried about right now. I have Melodious, Fiona, you, and soon Sasha, I am sure," I said, pinching the bridge of my nose in frustration.

This was something that I needed to discuss with the Queen and Fiona before I could even say yes or no, but this Ghost was being pushy. Locking me in here until I did what she wanted was not a good way to start a business relationship, nor was just trying to force a mark on me after capturing me.

[I guess that I see what you mean. I thought that you might have seen us as less than humans, but I understand now. Thank you for explaining it to me,] Melty said as she went quiet, and I was left with my thoughts.

I sighed and leaned back in my chair, and then I got up, taking a big breath of air in.

"LET ME OUT, OR I WILL DO THIS THE HARD WAY!" I roared at the top of my lungs, and the Ghost suddenly appeared again with a scowl on her face.

"Why are you being so difficult?" The Ghost demanded, and I gave her a look that said I was clearly not impressed.

"Because you are being obstinate, and I am about to start blasting holes in walls and the ceiling until I find a way out. Do not test me," I growled, not wanting to waste time here.

"Are you not even going to hear me out?" The Ghost asked, sounding a bit more desperate this time.

"Really? Does everyone that you kidnap just do what you want when you tell them?" I demanded, and the Ghost looked away from me.

"You are the first person that I have had this done too. I am not really in the business of wanting to kill humans, but this one is hurting my friends!" The Ghost said, turning to me, and I sat back down with a sigh.

"Fine," I said, gesturing to the other chair. "I will listen, but I will not and can not give you an answer right away. I am not one person, and I have to talk with others to see what they think first. I will not do anything that puts the people that I care about in danger."

"I understand that, and I am very sorry for what I had the girls do. They are the ones that were kept as slaves and abused. Girls!" The Ghost said and gestured to the wall where the door appeared and opened.

The girl from before and another identical to her came out of the door, and each walked over to either side of the Ghost. The girl I had bumped into had pure white skin, but she wouldn't look me in the eyes. She looked to be shy, even to the point of bashful, with a slight blush, but she looked cute in her white and red sari.

The other girl looked identical to who I assumed was her twin sister, but her skin was black as night, and she was looking at me with a vicious and hungry smile. The smile was filled with pointed teeth that fit together like a bear trap and made me nervous. This girl was in a black and pink sari but seemed the polar opposite of the other, but both of them were much too young to be turned into weapons.

"This is Kari," the Ghost said, gesturing to the shy one and then over to the excited one. "This is Kila."

"Hi! I hit you with the rock!" Kila said with a frantic wave at me, and I was forced to smirk at her directness.

"I am really sorry for tricking you, but Miss Laura said this would be the best way, so no one got a good look at us," Kari explained in a shy voice, and I nodded.

"I can sort of see the reasoning, even if I would prefer not to be hit with rocks," I said, rubbing the back of my head where I could feel a lump. "Are you two sisters?"

"They are not sisters, Allgora; they are one being that is two. Kilakarai is a rare creature called a Bipolara; when they are separated, they are much easier to keep controlled. When they join, they become much older and more beautiful, but her moods shift like the wind. I think, given time with the right person, she could learn to control herself, but finding someone like that is hard. Humans won't help; most monsters don't care or are like me and can only help in limited ways," Laura explained, and I nodded, but I could see where things were going already, and this was getting severely sidetracked.

"What about this person? How did they get a hold of the girls?" I asked, and Kila answered.

"So one ripped us from our home! Then killed our parents and most of the others! It was pretty gruesome, but then we got taken, collared, and then sold off to such a fat slob that made us crush grapes since we couldn't get dirty! We don't get breaks often, and we get beat if we rest, but physical attacks without weapons do no damage to us, but they still hurt! Blades and bullets still kill us, though, and sharp teeth and claws!"  Kila said with far too much excitement throwing her hands around in the air as she talked. Kari was just crying the entire time.

Good lord, did I know what was coming next, but I was a man that would protect those that needed it... but, dammit! Why did they all come with so much baggage?! Each of my weapons would need a couple pages if there was a description for them somewhere!

"I would like for you to make KilaKarai into weapons and remove this scumbag from the world. I know that you need to talk to the Queen about this first, but I was hoping that you would have at least given me a chance earlier to explain myself," Laura said, but I just leaned back in my chair and gave her a look.

"You should have led with the girls first, rather than trying to cram, what to me, sounded like a random killing just because you wanted me to down my throat. That is why I said no right away, as should anyone that was in that position," I said, and Laura nodded slowly.

"Past that, I will get the girls into the castle for you and talk with Fiona," Laura explained and started to get up, turning away from me, but I reached out to grab her arm and almost shit myself when I did.

"Holy Molly! What in the hell is going on?! You are a Ghost, right?!" I asked as I marveled at the strange feeling of holding her arm, but Laura frowned at me. "Also, what do you mean go talk to Fiona?! Do you know her?! If you do, then why did you do all this?!"

"You don't want to meet a Ghost; they are not friendly. I am a Specter, but I can also become incorporeal and pass through objects and walls. I wanted to meet you and see what kind of person you were. You did refuse me, but then sat back down and listened while giving me a reasonable answer at the end. You also didn't bat an eye that the girls or I look the way we do. All of this tells me that you are going to become a very special person to many monsters that don't deserve to be hunted. I know that is your job, but it seems you have also made it your job to protect the ones that deserve it," Laura explained as my hand suddenly closed on thin air as her arm fazed through my hand.

Then she leaned down close to my face as I stared back at her light purple eyes, the only thing on her that had any real color. "I will go talk with Fiona after I get the girls situated in the castle. Go home and rest; you look like you are about to drop." With that, Laura kissed me on the forehead before disappearing again, leaving behind a very confused and slightly aroused man.

The girls were now gone as well, but I hadn't seen them leave. At least the door was still there, and I could leave the place. Through the door were stairs that led up to two more doors, but I could feel a cool breeze coming from the one in front of me, so I left it out.

Once I was back out on the street, there were still people milling about, but it was completely dark now, and the moon was up, reminding me of Sasha. That just made me groan, but it wasn't all bad. Yes, I was gaining a lot of people to protect, but I was also working on increasing my variety of weapons. Depending on the monster, I might need different elements or ranged weapons. Only using a few weapons limited me, so collecting as many as I could wasn't a bad idea.

Plus, there was the forging of the weapons and upgrading them, and there was no denying that I enjoyed that part.

"So, how did your first day on the job go, Hunter?"

I stopped and looked up in shock to see that I had made it back to the castle gates, but Lord Lachlan was there with some very large guards that were covered in weapons. They looked more like mercenaries, but they all stood at attention behind my imposing trainer.

"Yes," I said and then handed him my shirt. "Sorry, didn't bring a bag with me, and the village wasn't very helpful after I had killed everything."

Lachlan opened my shirt up and gave me an impressed nod, and then handed it back to one of the men who looked in the shirt. The man counted quietly and then looked to the man beside him, who pulled out a small pouch that jingled, opening it up. The man then reached into his own pocket to deposit ten gold coins into the bag.

"I am extremely impressed, even if I am unimpressed with your choice of weapon over a human, but monsters usually like to stick with their own kind, so it can't be helped. You, my pupil, have exceeded what I thought you would accomplish. For the Infernal Demon, two hundred gold pieces, twenty for each dragonpede, and one hundred for the Eldritch Horror you slew. This totals to be three hundred and eighty gold pieces," Lord Lachlan explained, but the pouch that the guard handed to me felt a bit light for the size of coins that the man had put in it. "There is twenty gold in there for you. The other three hundred and sixty will help pay the sum of one thousand gold a month to rent this castle. I left you a little so you will not starve, Allgora, and so you can feed your pets. There is also twelve thousand that you owe for missed rent payments, and any earnings that you earn each month past the thousand will be put towards that debt. This is the price for being summoned by a useless monster, but you are the master of this castle, and this town, even if they probably won't respect you because you are just as much a monster as the creatures you bed."

Anger flared like blazing coals, but I held it inside as Lord Lachlan turned from me and waved his hand for his guards to follow him. I was left at the gate, but I just stood there for a moment to let everything sink in.
