Sasha thanked me for the food, and I told her that I would be back after I was done with the Sand Demon. She said she would be waiting for me, and I could see the excitement in her eyes. I wasn't sure if it was because she wanted more food or if she just liked having someone to talk to, or maybe it was the desire for a mate to take her. Either way, it didn't matter; today was not that day.
I made my way North for a way and then hit the desert. It wasn't something gradual, I just hit a fifty-foot cliff, and everything for as far as I could see in front of me down below was sand. I could also see things in the distance moving, then the heat waves that were coming off the sand made it impossible to make them out.
[I will have to remain in my blade form while we are out here, even at night, unless we can find an oasis.]
I nodded at Melty's words as I reached down and took her from my side. The glass blade should be strong against the creatures down there, but Melty was a water creature that needed water to survive. I wasn't sure how hard it would be to find an oasis, but I would be keeping my eye out for any water sources.
I started my descent down the cliff, being very careful not to fall and break anything. Once I hit bottom, I started to move, but it didn't take long for me to attract some attention. The first thing that attacked me was a giant bird that came swooping down out of the sky at me with its claws outstretched.
I quickly stepped to the side before cutting it in half as it screeched loudly before falling to the sand and twitching a few times. A moment later, it exploded into black dust, leaving behind some kind of strange metal in its place that looked like obsidian mixed with steel. I scooped it up and dropped it in my small pouch, making it disappear; this little thing was going to make my life so much easier than the first excursion I had with the Infernal Demon!
I turned as something started moving in the sand towards me, and a large scorpion-like creature with multiple legs and a large stinger on its tail burst out of the ground. It was easily twice my size, but it didn't look like it would be too difficult to take down. The question was how to do so without being stung by that large venomous-looking tail.
I dodged to the side as it lunged at me with its claws outstretched, and then I brought my blade down on one of its large pincers. The glass blade sliced into the claw easily, but the ripple from my blade only seemed to piss it off, and I was tossed as the scorpion yanked me forward. It turned and opened its large mouth full of razor-sharp teeth towards me, but I quickly dodged to the side before stabbing my blade into its open mouth.

The glass blade slid through muscle and bone easily as black blood spurted everywhere, coating my hand and arm in the sticky substance. The scorpion's body convulsed a few times before going limp, but I didn't take any chances as I cut off its head before slicing it in half lengthwise. Just like that bird thing earlier, it also exploded into black dust after a moment, with some strange metal left behind that looked similar to what came from the bird, except this time it was red instead of black.
I scooped up this new metal, too; perhaps they were different grades or something? After cleaning my hand off on some nearby sand, I started moving again, only for something else to come attacking me almost immediately afterward; this place was teeming with life!
This time it was a giant snake that came at me, and I barely had time to dodge out of the way before it slammed into the sand where I had been standing just a moment before. The snake quickly turned around and opened its mouth wide as it lunged at me again, but I was already moving.
I jumped up over the snake's head and brought my blade down on its back hard enough that it cut through muscle, bone, and even some metal plates that were underneath all of that. The snake's body contorted wildly for a few moments as black blood spurted everywhere before going limp in the sand. It, too, exploded into black dust after a few moments with some strange metal left behind; this one looked similar to what came from the scorpion, except it was blue instead of red.
Then I started to run as most monsters started to come to where I was after the commotion I had caused. Some were flying overhead, while others were running along the ground towards me, and I really didn't want to fight all of them. So instead, I started sprinting away from them as fast as my legs could carry me; it looked like we would be doing a lot of running in this place if we wanted to stay alive.
[I never thought that there would be some many monsters in one place. This is amazing!]
I just grunted in response as I continued to run away from the hoard of monsters that were now chasing after me. This place was insane, but I just needed to put some distance from the monsters. I was out here to train, but it looked like part of that training was going to be when to run away from a fight. At my current strength, I could easily get overwhelmed if I stayed in one spot for too long, so I had to keep moving after each kill.
Eventually, I managed to lose the monsters, and I slowed down to a jog as I looked back; they were all gone. It was getting dark now, so it was time to find someplace safe to hole up for the night. As I continued moving, I found a small oasis that had a few trees and some plants growing around it.
