Chapter 4
A Contract
"Actually, I don't remember how I got here." I opened up.
"Too much ambrosia..." he looked at me understandingly.
I waved my hands to deny his statement.
"No, no. I woke up in the place and later got to eat that ambrosia."
"A god must've invited you."
"There was no one around me..."
"But it's an unlikely guess, this place is one of the many gardens of the gods. It's mostly unused so this is where we hold our exams." he pondered.
"Our? Exams?" I looked at him dumbfounded.
All these new information took an effort to process.
"Yes! We are having our exam for a job as a god's assistant." he sang with a face full of worship. "We are given this dream stones to finish within the time limit." he took out a bag from behind him and the chimes of bells and something I couldn't recognize echoed out from the container.
"I see. I-Is there anything I can do to help you?" I ask.
I internally released a breathe of relief. I finally got to the purpose of why I wanted to talk to Morphie.
"Hmm..." Morphie thought with his eyes closed.
"I would like to repay you for saving me." I throw it out in the air.
"Hmmmm...." he thought harder, his face scrunching up.
"Just anything! I'll help with anything!" I blurted out.
"Hm. Okay then." He answered in an agreeable manner.
He waved his hand and a parchment with gold ink writing whatever he said appeared.
"Noone, will help Morphie fulfill his dream!"
The letters appeared in a cursive appearance and organized themselves. I was amazed that I could read the language.
"If Noone breaks her promise..." he trailed off.
"I won't!"
"If you do, you will..."
---
"Are we there yet?" I ask for the first time.

"We could've been, if you had wings." Morphie stared at my legs hatefully.
I can't do anything about it. Humans are made this way.
My stomach made its protest and Morphie stopped flying, stayed still midair and looked back.
"Ah right, you're human now." he muttered.
"Huh?"
"Let's go Tasha." he leads me.
"It's actually Noone." I correct him with a depressed look.
To think you were the one who named me.
"Okay Nancy." he replies halfheartedly, flying in a different direction.
The forest are relatively normal looking despite being one of the island gardens of the gods.
"It's Noone."
"Whatever Fiona."
"It's not even starting with an N anymore." I complain.
"Chop chop Janice."
Why do I even bother?
"Yessss..."
Morphie guides me to an area filled with wild grapes. The sizes varied from drop like to looking at big as apples.
"We need to be full before going on the climb. Just take your pick, the pink ones are delicious. The white ones are bland."
I nod obediently, amazed at the abundant harvest and the lack of other animals.
"Okay!"
Morphie flies away and I hurriedly catches up to him.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm going to forage other food. Don't worry, there's no dangerous animals in the area." he assures me.
Feeling nervous, I watch as Morphie flies away. Even with his size, he is able to fly really fast. I belatedly realize, he was really slowing down to match my pace. Like a lot.
To wash my anxiety away, I gather big leaves and find a root that is wide and flat enough to be used as a table. I put the leaves down and decided to taste test the different colored fruits.
Since Morphie approved, I don't think this will be a repeat of the ambrosia accident.
Besides, he did save me. He is trustworthy!
