Chapter 3

What's Your Name

"What do your friends call you then?" Morphie asked.

"I don't...have..."

"Friends?" he asked.

"A name." I answered, a furious blush in my cheeks. It was embarrassing to have no name.

"What do your friends call you then?"

"That too."

Silence ensued.

"How about Noone?" he vibrantly suggested.

"No one is your friend and no one knows you. You're no one, it's perfect!" he chattered on.

"Noo... Ne" I tested out the pronunciation of my name.

The reason wasn't exactly special. It was simple. I liked it simple.

"Okay!"

"Great! Hmm. You can't seem to see me or even see at all." Morphie noticed.

I silently nodded.

"I've given you the antidote from ambrosia addiction. Try closing your eyes and focusing a bit." he instructed.

Brimming with trust to my savior, I did. Almost immediately, a new world opened up. I felt my senses mapping out the area around me as if I really had vision to see through the pitch black darkness.

I opened my eyes and could now see the night as clear as the day. There were no real difference when seeing light and darkness but I could tell, just because.

"Nice to meet you, Noone!" My new friend grinned at me.

A little fairy boy, small enough to be enclosed with both of my palms, had white hair, dark skin and eyes like the galaxy was waving in front of me. He wore a school uniform of a white collared shirt and pants, ending with brown shoes.

Hesitation was in me. I knew that the forest had no real dangers, instinct wise but to think what almost did me in was a fruit.

Good thing, this kindhearted fairy boy helped me.

I lifted up my finger and pointed it at his direction, hoping he would understand my attempt at a handshake.

"Nice to meet you, Morphie," saying another name felt alien to me but the sense of nostalgia brushed along. "and thank you for saving me."

"The pleasure is all mine!" he giggled as he used both hands to receive the tip of my finger.

To my surprise, he could actually lift my finger up and down as a handshake.

Where did all that strength come from?

Some kind of magic probably. Morphie wasn't limited to the constrains of a mortal.

He looks youthful now, he might not seem that young in actuality.

I retrieved my hand in a fluster when he caught me staring.

He looks beautiful.

Moreso, with his eyes. It's as if the all the stars in the world became trapped in his irises. Sometimes looking gloomy and sometimes glittering. His eyes truly made me wonder.

"Do you have anything to say?" he tilted his head.

A burst of tightness attacked my chest.

He looked so adorable!

I swallowed down my excitement and it rapidly went down when I thought how he might've noticed my blatant staring.

With a pinch of embarrassment, I summoned the courage I could gather in one inhalation.

"What's an ambrosia?"

But miserably failed by opening a different topic.

"It's a fruit condensed from divine energy and cosmos energy. It's the fruit of the Gods, highly toxic to mortals." he smiled.

"But with my special potion, the effects can be neutralized." he proudly explained.

My prioritization got rearranged.

Divine energy? Cosmos? Gods?

What.

It was strange how the existence of a fair y like Morphie didn't surprise me but the mention of some magical energy and gods bothered me.
