Of course, Laia had no choice but to take the asshat home.
And when she said home, she meant her home.
Great.
The only thing that's keeping her sane about the whole situation that was suddenly dumped on her was that her mother wasn't home and would probably not be home until late evening.
If she was, Laia would've had to dump the asshat's body somewhere far from their house and preferably near a garbage can.
Laia couldn't help but chuckle at thinking how will the asshat react when he wakes up next to a bunch of trash cans.
"If I honestly hear you laughing by yourself one more time I will make you carry your asshat instead,"
Niel's threat was enough for Laia to run towards him after locking the door and help him lay the asshat down on her own bed.
Yes, her own bed which she just graciously changed the sheets of.
Not that Laia wanted the asshat anywhere near her bed or room but she had no choice. The couch in their living room wasn't long enough for the asshat to assume his sleeping position and Laia definitely didn't want her mother to come home to a random boy laying down on her bed, unconscious.
So yes, she had no choice on the matter.
"Why didn't we just leave him there," Laia grumbles as she stretched her arms upwards. "The police wouldn't even think of strolling by, they hate our coffee,"
Laia wasn't kidding. The policemen really hated their coffee. An example of this claim would be how one time one of the policemen who were stationed near Brewing bought an espresso, made a disgusted face, and never came back.
It's safe to assume that he didn't like how Laia accidentally (purposely) added more sugar to his coffee after he rudely gave his order.
The short-haired girl couldn't restrain a cackle making Niel look at her like she grew a horn on her head.
"Is talking to yourself and cackling for no reason some of the side effects of being too smart?"
Laia sticks her tongue out at the boy but said nothing to his remark. Instead, she sits down on the edge of her bed, as far as she was able to from the asshat. "When will he wake up?"
"Do I look like a doctor?"
The girl scrunches her nose. "Definitely not,"
"Then you get your answer."
The two exchanged glances and shared a laugh.
Okay, maybe Laia is glad to have friends at least. Niel is one of the few people who could understand and respond to Laia's sarcasm without getting offended, anyway.
"How about you attend to your asshat's wounds?" Niel suggests after they both sat in silence for a while.
Laia rolls her eyes but complies anyway. She didn't even bother responding to how Niel called the asshat hers again thinking that responding to her friend would only make him tease her further.
And it's not like she's affected by how he constantly refers to the asshat as Laia's.
Right?
Apparently not as Niel grins at her wolfishly the moment she comes back from the bathroom holding a first aid kit.
"I'll give you two space," Niel waves with a teasing smile as he leaves the room. "I'll be in the kitchen!"
"Don't burn anything!" Laia yells out and gets a begrudging "yes" as a response.
Laia can only hope Niel wouldn't really burn anything.
Because if he did, Laia's quite certain that he may not be able to step inside their house again for her mother loves her kitchen more than she loves anything else in their house.
Laia even thinks that her mother won't even mind if her garden of plants that she never even waters ends up being rampaged on by a random stray animal as long as her kitchen is safe.
Inhaling a deep breath, Laia leans in close to the asshat to press a cotton ball to the wound on the asshat's lips.
Since she didn't want to wake the asshat up from his slumber (or unconscious state, she doesn't even know at this point) the girl carefully repeats the pressing of the cotton ball to the wound on the asshat's lips as gently as she could.
After the wound on the asshat's lips stopped bleeding, Laia throws the cotton ball on the trash bin and gets another one to clean the blood near the asshat's nose. Since it wasn't bleeding anymore and only dried blood remained near his nose, Laia was sure that the asshat's nose wasn't broken.
Which was good since she had no idea how to handle a broken nose.
Laia was about to pull away from her position when she noticed how the asshat's cheek was bruised.
The girl sighs. "Of course, you got punched in the face after all," She whispers before deciding to leave her room for a while to get a cold compress.
Or preferably an ice pack.
Niel didn't let the opportunity of seeing Laia get an ice pack from their refrigerator pass. "Looks like someone's enjoying taking care of her asshat,"
Laia closes the freezer with more force than what was needed with a scowl. "Don't start," She pushes past him to rinse the ice pack briefly, just to make sure it was clean and didn't smell very much since they did have some meats and fish on the freezer as well. "I didn't notice earlier that he had a bruise, that's all,"
"He does?" Niel didn't seem to notice it as well. "Well, his actor brother did pack had quite a fist on him,"
Actor?
"His actor brother what now?"
"You didn't know?" Niel asks back with surprise evident on his face.
Niel shrugs. "True," He lowers his voice, probably not wanting the asshat to hear if he suddenly woke up or something. "The guy from earlier? He's a rookie actor. Sawyer Chen is his stage name. He's currently in that new drama called Golden Roses. It's his first big break, and everyone's going crazy over him."
No wonder Laia had no idea who the guy was. She doesn't watch dramas, after all.
"I don't watch dramas," Laia decides to be honest. "My mom does, though. Maybe she knows him?"
"I guess? I don't watch his drama too after watching the preview. It's not the genre I'd typically go for,"
Laia cocks her head to the side. "What genre is his drama?"
"Oh, now you're curious about your future brother-in-law?" Niel grins making Laia hit him with the ice pack. "Chill! It's a romance drama with an underlying theme of mystery. Sawyer plays the lead who is a detective."
"Ah, that seems interesting," Laia says. "However, I'm more into action and crime."
"Aren't crime dramas mostly with themes of mystery as well?"
Laia considers it for a moment and nods her head. "I suppose I can check his drama out in my free time,"
Niel raises a skeptical eyebrow. "Doubtful especially with how you study 24/7," He tilts his head towards the direction of Laia's room. "Maybe you should put that ice pack into use already?"
Oh. Laia forgot all about the asshat's bruise.
Oops.
Laia didn't waste time and made her way back to her room and even closed the door behind her to unable her from hearing Niel's laughter.
She takes being entirely glad about her friendship with Niel back. She definitely has a love-hate relationship with her friend who somehow knew how to piss her off too.
The girl almost jumps in surprise when the asshat suddenly groans in his sleep behind her.
Upon stepping closer to the boy in her bed, she noticed that he seemed to be having the chills which are often associated with a fever.
How the hell does someone have the energy to engage in a punching battle with his supposed older brother and immediately have a fever after someone (Laia) with a good heart attended to his small wounds?
Apparently the asshat.
Laia abandons the idea to press the ice pack on the asshat's bruise and places it on the boy's forehead instead. She flinches when realizing that the boy did indeed have a fever after checking his temperature with the back of her hand.
Great. Laia doesn't even get paid for this!
Now she obviously has to change the asshat's clothes as well, seeing that he had to get his body wiped with a towel like what's usually being done to those with a fever.
Or at least that's what Google told Laia when she had to write a term paper about the most common diseases back during freshmen year.
Laia pulls the asshat to a sitting position and reluctantly started unbuttoning the asshat's uniform. After unbuttoning the last button, she removes it entirely, rendering the asshat half-naked for he didn't wear an undershirt underneath.
"... I made us some sandwiches-- Oh, I am so sorry for disturbing whatever you are doing to your not-so-asshat--"
Laia grabs Niel's wrist before the boy could even leave the room. She gives him a withering glare. "I will murder you if this ever comes out of this house."
Niel rubs his wrists and pouts. "You didn't have to resort to violence," His eyes widened upon seeing how the asshat had chills again. "Why didn't you tell me he had a fever?"
"You didn't exactly give me the chance to," Laia sits down near the asshat again to press the ice pack to his neck for a moment and returned it back to the asshat's forehead. "Can you get a bowl of water?"
"Wait," Niel leaves the room and quickly returns with a half-full small basin of water. "Here, I'll help remove his clothes,"
"Do we have to wipe his lower body too?" Laia asks with uncertainty. She definitely doesn't want to see any of the asshat's lower body parts.
Niel nods. "Yeah," He laughs when Laia paled. "But don't worry, I'll take care of it. Just dry his uniform or something so when he wakes up his uniform is already dry and he can go ahead with his life,"
"Okay," Laia replies with a thankful smile. At least she doesn't have to deal with the asshat down there as well. "I'll leave you with him, then,"
Her friend nods and Laia leaves before she could see Niel start unbuttoning the asshat's pants which is definitely not among the things that Laia wants to see today.
The short-haired girl walks towards the back of their house and starts washing the asshat's uniform. She could've just hung it on the clothesline to dry but for some reason, she didn't.
Oh well, it's honestly the least she can do after the asshat treated her to the grilled cheese from earlier that was probably much more than her daily allowance.
And it didn't even taste as amazing as its price, mind you!
Laia then hangs the asshat's uniform on the clothing line and makes her way back to the kitchen, clapping her hands in delight when the sandwiches that Niel prepared were ham and cheese sandwiches.
Her favorite!
The girl was about to open her mouth and relish in the sandwich when she heard someone calling out from outside.
Grumbling in impatience, she decides to ignore it first.
However, the certain individual who was probably calling from outside the gate of the girl's house didn't stop and it even made Niel scream out for Laia to just go outside.
"Laia, if you don't come out and see whoever that was I will make you wipe your asshat's legs!"
Fearing for her life (and eyes) Laia quickly opens the door and makes her way to the gate.
"Who is it--"
Behind the gate was an oh-so-familiar face with a worried expression on her beautiful features.
Great because just what Laia needed to see today was the asshat's girlfriend.
