"Uh," Laia glanced at the girl's face one more time to make sure that she was indeed more than a figment of her worse imaginations. "How may I help you?"
The girl in front of her who was, unfortunately, more than a figment of her imagination stared at her for a good one minute instead of saying what she needed or more like who.
Realizing that she was just staring at Laia instead of stating her business, she folds her umbrella and sheepishly smiles. There is no single cell in Laia's body that can comprehend how can someone look so gorgeous with the sun's rays glaring down on her.
"Is Vincent here?" The girl asks with uncertainty in her voice.
Vincent? Vincent who?
Oh.
Of course, she calls the asshat by his second name.
"He's inside," Laia replies, trying her best to not sound rude with her next words. "Are you here to take him?"
Laia steals a glance at the girl's car behind her. A car that was different from the car she used to drop the asshat on their school, Laia notes.
How many cars does this girl have?
"Oh," The girl was obviously taken aback by Laia's question and awkwardly fumbles with the umbrella she was holding. "Is he alright?"
He's definitely not alright because you, Laia wanted to spit out.
But of course, she didn't. It just wasn't her place to reprimand other people about their decisions in life.
If the asshat and this girl were indeed cheating behind the back of the asshat's actor brother then that's none of Laia's concern. She just had to keep in mind that the asshat was a cheater and the girl isn't blameless in the situation as well, seeing that she even personally went to Laia's house to check on the asshat.
"He has a fever," Laia decides to open the gate for the girl to enter. "My friend's currently taking care of him in one of our rooms,"
Laia decides to not mention that it was her room. She hopes that Niel wouldn't mention it as well, seeing that it's completely inappropriate and irrelevant at the moment.
"Oh?" The girl places her folded umbrella on one of the chairs outside. "I hope he's not much of a grump? He's always so grumpy when you try to take care of him--"
"He's asleep," Laia interjects. She internally curses herself and bows to the girl in front of her. "I'm sorry for being rude,"
The girl's eyes widened as she shakes her head. "You weren't rude--"
"I was," Laia sighs. She tries to smile but obviously fails based on how awkward the smile she got from the girl. "Uh, anyway, we have sandwiches inside. Are you hungry?"
"Don't mind if I do!"
Smiling contentedly, the girl makes her way to the dining table and reaches out for the sandwich that was supposed to be inside Laia's belly.
But now it's currently on the girl's mouth.
Laia fights the urge to groan miserably. This is all because the asshat decided to get into a fistfight, lose and end up having a fever.
Boys are idiots.
"Hey, I'm done wiping your ass--"
Niel's eyes widened and he momentarily froze upon seeing the girl innocently eating the sandwich.
"Amethyst Lee?!" Niel blurts and his ears reddened as he covered his mouth in embarrassment. "I have no idea why I shouted out your name--"
"Hi!" The girl, or apparently Amethyst, raises her hand and waves at Niel. "Are you Laia's friend who took care of Vincent?"
Niel turns to Laia with a questioning look that Laia mirrored.
How the hell did this girl even know what was Laia's name?
Is she secretly Laia's stalker?!
"Vincent?" Niel asks. "Who's that?"
Amethyst giggles. "The one you took care of, silly," She even points at Laia's room. "Samuel's second name is Vincent."
Niel nods in understanding but still seemed to be confused about something.
Probably why the girl's here in the first place and how she even knew where the asshat was just like Laia's main concern was.
"I have to apologize for coming here out of nowhere," The girl says after wiping her mouth with a tissue. "Brie called me and told me about what happened,"
The girl sighs heavily and even pinched her nose in irritation. At this point, Laia wouldn't be surprised if she found out that Brie had probably told a lot more people regarding where she lived.
"Sawyer's just has his moments when he's very impulsive,"
Laia glances at Niel who seemed more confused than ever. It seems like both of them shared the same thoughts of not understanding the whole story.
But nevertheless, Laia should probably not ask about the details.
Amethyst awkwardly smiles when she didn't receive a reply from the two who were still standing near her. "I should probably check on Vincent?"
Laia almost trips on her feet when she beckons the girl towards the room where the asshat was. "Call us if you need something,"
"Thank you," Amethyst says before closing the door quietly.
The moment Laia returned to the kitchen she was welcomed by a silent Niel who was absentmindedly eating his sandwich.
"Hey," Laia elbows the boy who jumps in shock, glaring at the girl who obviously surprised him. "What's with you screaming her name earlier?"
Niel looked at Laia with a concerned expression. "Have you honestly lived under a rock your whole life?"
Laia rolls her eyes and gestures at her house. "You're literally inside my house that doesn't resemble a rock one bit,"
"I was being sarcastic, genius," Niel washes his hands after devouring the sandwich within a minute. "That girl is Amethyst Lee,"
"Am I supposed to know who that is?" Laia asks.
Not that she was being sarcastic or mean. Laia honestly had no idea who the girl was except for the fact that she's the fiancee of the asshat's older half-brother and is also the asshat's girlfriend.
The more the merrier, maybe?
Niel facepalms. "This is why you should stop studying for a whole week and immerse yourself in up and coming social media influencers--"
"I have no time for that sort of things--"
"Obviously since you don't even know someone that popular," Niel lowers his voice. "She's a really famous beauty influencer, you know?"
"Ah, makeup?"
"Yeah," Niel replies and even unlocks his phone to show a video of Amethyst applying makeup to her face. "She's also a model for some local brands. Heard she's going international within the year, though."
Well, at least now Laia knows why the asshat and her brother are pining over the girl.
"No wonder you screamed out her name like that," Laia teases making Niel glare at her. "You should introduce yourself to her when she comes out of the room--"
"And embarrass myself further? I'd rather not," Niel sits down on one of the dining chairs. "Anyway, shouldn't you just tell her to take your asshat or her asshat--"
"Definitely her asshat," Laia cuts him off. "Or her Vincent, for the matter."
"Aww, don't be jealous," Niel even pats his friend on the shoulder. "They'll probably break up soon since I think she's more into actors than students."
"Ass!" Laia couldn't help but laugh. "Don't spread that information, though."
Niel nods and then a teasing grin suddenly forms on his lips. "Shouldn't you check on the girl and your asshat?"
"For what?"
The boy shrugs. "I don't know, maybe they're doing something in your room and you'd have to deal with it later--"
Laia cringes at the idea of the two individuals currently in her room doing whatever Niel was implying and she quickly makes her way to the room.
Or at least by the room's door.
Instead of knocking on the door and entering her room immediately, she opted to just listen (eavesdrop shamelessly).
"Why won't you just knock on the door like a normal person--"
Laia covers the mouth of her friend quickly. "Shush, idiot,"
Niel raised his hands in surrender. He continues until Laia deemed his silence and continued to listen (eavesdrop).
The first thing that Laia heard was faint sobbing obviously from the girl.
She glances at Niel who raises an eyebrow in return. The two decide to remain silent and ask their questions later.
Niel gently pushes the door just enough for them to be able to sneak a peek into whatever was happening inside.
Seems like he wasn't contended just listening.
Laia doesn't mind for she was a bit of a gossip herself even if she doesn't admit it upfront.
The first thing that the two both saw was Amethyst gently caressing the asshat's face with a forlorn expression. Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked like she was a minute away from breaking down.
It was as if Laia was watching one of those melodramas her mother liked and to say that it was pitiful sight would be an understatement.
Niel elbows her. "We should leave,"
Laia agrees with a nod. "Yeah, we should."
The boy leaves first with a guilty expression on his face even if he wasn't the one who started the whole eavesdropping idea.
The short-haired girl was about to leave as well but stopped in her steps after hearing what the girl inside the room said to the unconscious asshat.
"I love you," Laia recognizes how the girl's voice seemed to crack after saying the last word. "I love you more than you'll ever know, Vincent."
Laia didn't know why but her chest tightened upon hearing those words.
Even when her mind was commanding her to just leave, Laia steals a final glance at the small gap between the door and watches how Amethyst pressed her lips on Samuel's briefly before she settles on the boy's chest.
