General Han looked down at the battlefield from high up in the skybarge that floated above the barge looked like it belonged at sea yet floated on the air as if like a feather. His shoulder length white hair was accented with a leather eye patch and armor that were made of dragon scales; an ancient crest on its breast plate signified the importance of the person.
Below the Skybarge two mountains came together to form a valley. In the valley hundreds of thousands were in combat. Martial warriors and normal villagers untold amounts fought viciously against one another. The Central Kingdom of Cheosu was fighting the Sun Phoenix Empire of the far east. Sun Phoenix spanned an immense portion of land stretching from the major empire towards the southeast also known as the Golden Seas empire to the Central kingdoms. The Cheosu kingdom had refused a generous treaty and instead beheaded the emperor's messenger. This of course meant a lesson had to be taught and General Han who was not only one of the great generals of the Sun Phoenix empire, but also one of the greatest cultivators.
“Captain! The men have fought well...let’s end this shall we?” The General, also known as the dragon of the Han clan or simply Han Chen, yelled up to the man at the helm of the Skybarge.
With a flick of his wrist a large sword that was nearly the size of a grown man appeared in hand. If someone had blinked they would have missed him jumping from the Skybarge plummeting down towards the battlefield.
“Captain! General Han jumped!” a worried voice yelled out.
The Captain merely smiled “Prepare to have a good show cause it won’t be long before this battle is over.”
General Han fell, it appeared like he wasn’t going to slow down, but he kept his body standing on the sword as he plummeted towards the earth. The front lines were a bloody and horrific sight. Dismembered limbs and spilled guts littered the ground, but no one seemed to care about the mass deaths; all that mattered was the enemy not far in front.
Like a meteor from heaven, a large crater was created sending many of the Cheosu men flying in the air. Before any of them had a chance to process the sudden change a man stepped up over the crater’s edge. His armor shining from the sun.
“It’s General Han! Kill him and we can end this war!”
“Are you crazy?!? None of us will be able to kill such a man; he has already reached levels of cultivation that many previously believed was impossible.”
“COWARDS! Charge forward or you will be killed on sight!”
Many contradicting voices shouted out from the enemy line. With a sigh General Han took out his sword again and charged into the Cheosu line today was going to be a regretfully bloody battle.
Sweeping his sword he cut down the first three attackers with little effort. Most soldiers never moved beyond the Iron warrior ranks and so they were easy for a man of his talent to cut down. Three bolts were shot at him, but he swatted each as they came with his sword as if they were flies. Cultivators of higher levels could still be harmed by weapons regardless who held them, but it would first have to break through the thin energy that surrounded them manifested by their Ki. This ability was only used by divine warriors who could maintain a steady stream of Ki pouring out from them during combat.
Gripping his blade he allowed his Ki to pour into the blade. Soon it shined with a golden light and swung it letting loose a golden ray of Ki that had manifested. The Golden light melted through ten men in a line and penetrated at least several rows deep. Darting forward everytime his sword swung, a head would slide off a neck. There was no hesitation in his movements and no remorse in his attacks. It was a mercy to end a war swiftly rather than prolong it.
In merely twenty minutes he had cut a large hole into the enemy's lines allowing his well trained troops to penetrate deeper and deeper into their ranks. It wouldn’t be long before Cheosu would raise the white flag of defeat. If they didn’t. Then more blood thorns would grow in this place today.
Just as General Han predicted in less than an hour of additional fighting the Cheosu troops were ordered to surrender. The sea of men began to throw down arms and were escorted away to be processed as prisoners of war.
General Han walked from the battlefield to the enemy's commander’s tent, his armor soaked in blood giving him a crazed look. Entering the tent his eyes immediately focused on the man before him.

“I never thought I would see you here today...brother.” General Han scoffed as he put down his helm and began washing his face and hands of the blood in the small water bowl that sat at the entrance.
Han ChaeMin was similar looking to General Han, merely slightly younger. A white cloak concealing his silver armor and under his arm he held his helm. General Han wasn’t entirely surprised his brother was leading these forces; the reality was for a smaller kingdom like Cheosu there was no way they’d have the ability to resist so effectively as long as they had without a backer.
“It is not as if you ask about my affairs often. I have been in Cheosu for nearly ten years brother and today I knew even if I personally fought with you the battle was in vain the moment you decided to step on the field.” Han ChaeMin said motioning for Han Chen to stand across from him on the table.
General Han Chen’s brother had left the Sun Phoenix empire years ago causing many to question the Han clan’s loyalty to the empire. It had been a black mark on their legacy, but his brother swore to him he had his reasons even if he didn’t understand them. Han Chen trusted his brother implicitly so he did not view him as an enemy despite being on opposing sides to the current conflict.
“What are the conditions of Cheosu’s surrender to the Sun Phoenix empire?” General Han said the warm moment between brothers had passed even if it was just formal greetings.
“Han ChaeMin, you always were too formal. You’ve just met your older brother after nearly ten years and this is all I get? Mother would be terribly upset.” Han Chen said a hint of mockery in his voice.
“At our cultivation we will live well over eight hundred years. A decade is not a long time for men like us. Han Chen bringing mother into this is not going to make my negotiations lighter.” Han ChaeMin responded he shifted uncomfortably since it had been many years since someone had used his full name. He was always known as the Lord benefactor of Cheosu while here.
Han ChaeMin walked over to a small shelf and grabbed a letter. “This is the terms the King of Cheosu gave to me should we fail to hold. I am sure it is more than adequate terms for your Emperor.”
“Our Emperor. You still are welcome back home brother despite the shame you brought to us.” Han Chen said no hint of ill will could be heard in his voice.
As Han ChaeMin looked over his younger brother’s proposal his brother had already donned his armor and a travelers pack without responding to Han Chen’s remark.
Looking up from the document he raised an eyebrow “Where are you going brother?”
Stopping at the tent flap he looked back “Brother...you and the Sun Phoenix empire are blind to what lurks deep in the shadows. I am trying to find and strengthen a nation who is at least willing to open their ears. Even if their eyes remain shut. I hear there is a fledgling empire to the deep south of the continent, one that is rumored to be quickly growing in strength. I might head down and see if they are willing to listen.”
“Well I suppose you are still believing that dream you had so many years ago. Brother I cannot stop you as mother made us both swear we would not bring harm to each other, but eventually the Sun Phoenix empire will rule this continent. How will it not have enough strength to stand against whatever threat you dreamed of?”
Shaking his head Han ChaeMin looked back at his brother. “You are very much mistaken brother. We all need to be aware of the dark, that is all I will say…if you trust me at all still brother go to a small town located in the central region of the mountains of mist there if you spend enough time there will learn the truth that I know.”
As General Han watched his younger brother leave his mind began to replay ten years ago in his head. Something had happened during that time when his brother went on an expedition three years prior to his leaving of the empire and he never was the same until he left. Something about a growing threat that we were all blind to.
“Perhaps I need a vacation after this latest conflict” he muttered.
