Chapter 22: 22 Wild Boss (1)

Pepper used her tracking abilities to help her and Enzo avoid the low leveled monsters in the forest. 

They could easily take them down, but their goal now was to find something much higher leveled and take it down. 

Before, they were definitely taking risks, but all the fights Enzo and Pepper entered were completely winnable fights. 

If an analyst were to give them a win possibility rate before each one, not a single fight would have been below 50%. 

However, now the duo wanted to find something that would probably make an analyst give them a 20% or below chance of coming out alive, and they found that monster.

“Atlas…”

“Yeah?”
“There is a very, very, very large monster ahead.”
“How big are we talking?”
Pepper made a rough estimate of the hoof size using her hands to measure the tracks she saw and then lifting it up for Enzo to see.

“Ah, that is large indeed.”
“Mhm.”
“Still, I am going to fight it. I understand if you don’t want to since we still don’t know what the death penalty in this game is.”
“No, I will fight with you. I may have said earlier that I wasn’t planning on fighting for a bloodline, but that was in the past. I am a very competitive person when I want to be Atlas, and I now what to compete with the other bloodline chasers.”
“Okay.”
He wasn’t going to disrespect her resolve by asking her if she was sure. She basically told him that she is willing to take the risks, so that is that. 

“Lead the way Miss Pepper.” Enzo motioned ahead. 

She started following the tracks of the large beast.

It didn’t take long for them to come across the monster, but this time they didn’t have the advantage of surprise…

A low warning growl came from the clearing Enzo and Pepper were looking into. 

The most menacing beast Enzo had ever seen was staring at them. 

It was a 10 feet tall Minotaur with dark red skin. 

The monster was carrying a very large double headed axe in its hands and even had armor on some parts of its body. 

The head and torso were completely uncovered, but on the legs and arms the monster wore thick leather armor. 

The monster had its black eyes locked onto Enzo and Pepper even though they just stepped into the clearing. 

It was the first time they were not able to catch a monster off guard, but also the first time a monster caught them off guard. 

Enzo just had enough time to look at the Minotaur’s ID before it attacked. 

[Baby Minotaur (Wild Boss)]

[Level 8]

[HP: 2000/2000]

“Holy shit!” Enzo screamed at both the stats of the beast and also the attack that was coming down at them. 

Boom!
The large axe went in between the two Fae and hit the ground hard. 

Enzo dove to the left and Pepper dove to the right. 

Enzo was starting to regret his earlier confidence now. He wasn’t sure they would be able to beat a boss monster just yet, so that “Wild Boss” tag after the name of the beast made him incredibly anxious. 

The “Baby” in front of the Minotaur made him even more anxious. 

If this was just a baby, how scary were the little monster’s parents???

Enzo rolled to his feet, but was met with the axe once again. 

He jumped back, dodging the axe and causing it to hit the ground once more. 

Boom!
“Roar!”
The minotaur roared in anger at the Fae that kept dodging its attacks. 

Pepper now had her daggers out and started running towards the exposed side of the monster.

The minotaur quickly picked up its axe and swung at Pepper. 

She ducked down, just barely dodging the weapon. 

This gave Enzo time to finally reach into his inventory and grab his new katana. 

Neither Enzo nor Pepper were prepared enough for this fight. 

They assumed they would have enough time to grab their weapons out of their inventories before the fight like always. 

Enzo quickly strapped the sheath to his waist then drew the crimson blade. 

“Ready for your first drink?” Enzo mumbled to the blade. 

This would be his first time using the katana so even though he was in danger right now, he was very excited to test out his new weapon. 

Enzo dashed towards the minotaur and was able to slip past its guard because the beast's arms were still extended out in a swinging motion. 

Shing!

Enzo sliced his katana against the calf of the minotaur causing a lot of blood to spray out.

He didn’t dare stay near its legs, the beast was just too fast. 

It tried to lift the leg that was cut and stomp Enzo into a pulp. 

Boom!
Enzo had to jump to the side again to dodge, but he was sent flying into the nearby trees.

Luckily, it wasn’t a direct strike or Enzo probably would have been dead. 

It was times like these where his glass cannon build could be a huge disadvantage.

If Enzo couldn’t kill his opponents quickly and in an efficient manner then his glass cannon disadvantage would show. 

Pepper wasn’t idle as the monster stomped down, she aimed her daggers at the monster's other leg.

Pepper was able to slice the part of the monster’s leg that was right behind the knee, so it caused slightly more damage than Enzo’s attack. 

She learned from Enzo’s mistake and jumped back instead of trying to run in the direction of the other leg, so she suffered no damage from the stomp that came again from the monster.

Boom!
Enzo was now back on his feet and running towards the minotaur again. 

Pepper did the same. 

The minotaur looked back and forth between them as if deciding which one he should kill first. 

“Your right!” Enzo yelled. 

Pepper understood exactly what he meant. 

She went to her right, which led her to the back of the monster. 

Enzo ran towards his own right which brought him to the front of the minotaur.
