[You have entered the Tutorial Dungeon]

[Dungeon Failure Penalties: Loss of a level and returned to the village.]

[Dungeon Clear Rewards: Subclass]

“A whole level huh?” Enzo mumbled.

He expected a penalty upon death, but not a dungeon specific one.

In fact, neither Juliet nor Enzo know what the death penalty is. They haven’t seen any posts on the forums and haven’t gone looking for any either. Surprisingly with how cautious Enzo usually is, he was very nonchalant about the potential death penalties within the game.

‘This looks exactly how one would expect it to.’

The Tutorial Dungeon location is just a regular old cave, from what Enzo can see.

There is dirt and random flora all over the floors and walls. The ceiling is quite high, being almost 20 feet tall. Lastly, there isn’t much light. The crystals on the ceiling offered enough light for them to see, but it wasn’t enough to illuminate the whole chamber.

Currently, Enzo and Juliet were in what seemed to be a dungeon chamber. It was all open space and there was a door five feet away from where they are currently standing.

Enzo walked over to the wooden door and opened it.

“Why should we have to go through another door when we just walked through one.” Juliet grumbled.

They soon found out why.

Woosh!
“Aghhh what the fuck!” Enzo screamed.
A torrent of water suddenly flooded out from behind the door.

“I thought we would fight monsters or something, why does it have to be a puzzle dungeon?!” Juliet complained as the water was steadily rising in the room.

“Sigh. I don’t know, but we should probably find a way out quickly.” Enzo replied.

The sound of the water gushing through the door in the background offered a sense of urgency to Enzo and Juliet as they frantically searched for a way out of the room.

“Knock on the walls, see if any are hollow!” Enzo yelled.

If any part of the cave walls sounded hollow that would mean there was potentially something hidden behind it.

Enzo followed his own instructions quickly and started wading through the water towards the walls.

He practically ran the length of the wall just constantly knocking on it.

Suddenly Juliet shouted to Enzo, “I think I got something!”, so he waded his way through the water to her side of the cave.

The water now reached their knees, so it was getting harder every second to move.

Well, Enzo’s knees anyway. The water was much closer to Juliet’s waist because of her height.

“Knock on it again.”
“Okay.”
Juliet knocked on the part of the wall she believed might be hollow.

Afterwards, Enzo did the same to test if the sound was different.

“Yup, that’s got something behind it. We need to break it now.”
“How?”
“Let’s try kicking it I guess.”
“Okay.”
“Kick on 3.”

“1. 2. 3!”

Boom!
A section of the wall about 6 feet in diameter came crumbling down.

“A lever!”

“Pull it Juliet.”
“Okay.”
Woosh!
The water became much more violent in an instant.

“Ah shit!”

Enzo thought maybe the lever just made their situation worse.

The water then started flowing in a circle with the center of the room being the center of the whirlpool that formed.

“What should we do?” Juliet shouted.

Enzo didn’t immediately answer because he didn’t know either.

So far this dungeon was going nothing like how Ivan’s Tutorial Dungeon went.

Enzo believed he would have an advantage going into this dungeon because Ivan recounted his own experience, but it seems like that isn’t the case.

Enzo looked at the doorway that still had water flooding through it. The water was much faster and more violent than it was before they pulled the lever.

“Give me a second, I’m going to check something out!” Enzo had to shout so Juliet would hear him over the sound of the water crashing against itself.

“Ssssssss!”
Enzo took in a deep breath before suddenly diving into the water.

It was now up to his own waist so he wasn’t worried about hitting his head on the ground.

He then opened his eyes underwater and started looking around.

‘Where is it…’

He then turned his head a little to the right.

‘There!’

Enzo found the eye of the whirlpool. He started swimming towards it cautiously as he didn’t want to get sucked in and trapped.

It had been over 20 seconds since Enzo went under the water, but despite his fast depleting supply of oxygen he stayed under for a little bit longer.

‘Thought so.’

Enzo finally saw what he was looking for, so he swam back up.

Neither Juliet nor his feet were able to touch the ground now so they had to tread the water to stay above the surface.

The water was around 10 feet away from the ceiling of the cave now, so their sense of urgency was much more than before.

“Juliet! I think we are supposed to either go through the door or down the eye!”
“What!”

“I said I th-”

“No, I heard what you said! It’s just that it sounds crazy.”
“We don’t really have much of a choice.”
“Yeah, but which way should we take?”
“I think the opening in which the water is going through on the floor might take us somewhere.”
“Okay, I will trust your judgment.” She replied confidently.

It’s not that Juliet was dependent on Enzo or wasn’t smart in her own right, but during just their two days together she learned that Enzo’s intuition was usually very good.

Almost every time he said he felt one decision was better than another, he was correct.

Enzo nodded in appreciation because he didn’t need to convince her.

He then started instructing Juliet, “Take deep breaths before we go, you need to slow your heart rate so you can last longer without air.”

She nodded and started doing as he said and Enzo did it as well.

After a few seconds of calming themselves down, they took one last deep breath and dove under the water.

As they got closer to the center of the whirlpool they had to do less and less work because the water was doing it for them.
