Chapter 40: 40 Concoction

Once Enzo figured out what he was currently staring at, he instantly knew what he was supposed to do. 

He tried to combine the groups of molecules with the solo molecules using his brain. 

It was slow at first, but after a minute the solo molecules started moving to the groups almost on their own. 

After 5 minutes, but what only felt like a minute to Enzo, he ended the combine skill as the molecules were fully rushing to combine by themselves at this point. 

He looked down at the cauldron to see a bubbling pale yellow liquid filling up a quarter of it. 

“You may take the cauldron off the fire now. I have confirmed that you successfully made a 1 star pain relief potion.” Marcus told Enzo. 

Enzo put on gloves that were handed to him by Marcus. The gloves were basically this world's oven mitts. They were made of rubber and very thick. 

He then picked up the cauldron and placed it on a metal stand near the small fire pit. 

Marcus then bent down and pressed a button that caused dirt from the fire pit to douse the fire. 

“That’s neat.” Enzo commented. 

“Yeah, we had a few burn down incidents from people not knowing how to properly put one out, so we had to implement this. Haha.” Marcus replied. 

He then led Enzo back out of the room and to the front desk to get his alchemist license. 

Enzo had to go through the process of putting his hand on the stone once more, and received another card in return. 

This time the ID card was in white and had “Alchemist” written in big black letters at the top. The rest of the card had the same information as his adventurers ID. 

“I never caught your name by the way?” Enzo said to the receptionist. 

“My name is Marissa.” She replied. 

“Okay Marissa, how much would it cost to buy my own alchemy materials?” 

“A 3 star cauldron will set you back 1 gold coin. We sell containers for 1 silver each. Gloves will cost 10 silvers. Lastly, a 3 star portable burner costs 3 gold coins.”

“Okay, I would like to buy a cauldron, a portable burner, a pair of gloves, 10 containers, and the materials to make five 3 star health potions without purified water.”
Marissa raised her eyebrow, “Are you sure you don’t want the purified water?”, she asked. 

“Yeah, I already have some.” Enzo lied. 

It wasn’t smart to give away his secrets if this experiment actually worked. 

If Enzo came out with 1 or 2 star potions days after making a weird order, all it would take is one slip of the tongue from Marissa and he would be screwed. 

“Alright, that will be 9 gold coins and 20 silvers.”

[Would you like to buy items worth 9 gold and 20 silvers from the Alchemist Guild? Yes/No]

Enzo pressed “Yes” and the items appeared in his inventory. 

“Thank you.” He told Marissa. 

He then remembered one crucial thing he needed to know before he left, “Do you know where a good inn is?”
“Yes, there is actually one just at the end of this street. Turn right as you walk out of the door and keep going until you see the sign that says ‘Silverwind Inn’ on it.” She responded. 

“Okay, thanks again.”
Enzo then turned to leave the Alchemist guild and headed in the direction Marissa gave him. Just as she said, it was only a few buildings down. 

The Inn was a large 2 story building made of wood. There were many windows on the second story, but not many on the first. 

Enzo entered the Inn and it looked exactly as he thought it would.

There was a restaurant with a bar on the first floor and a receptionist desk to the left of the entry doors. 

Enzo walked up to the man sitting behind the desk and asked, “How much would the cheapest room and a good meal cost?”
“5 silvers a day for the cheapest room and 1 silver for a good meal.” The man responded curtly.

“Okay, here is the money.”
Enzo took out the silvers and gave them to the man. 

He then looked at the ID of the NPC for his name. 

[John Silverwind]

[Level 51]

That’s when he realized something. 

‘Ah! I could have just looked at Marissa’s ID!’

He uselessly asked for her name instead of just looking. 

‘The NPCs are so lifelike it’s hard to remember they aren’t real people and this is a game sometimes.’ Enzo grumbled. 

John handed Enzo a key with a tag attached that had the number 5 written on it.

“Would you like to have your meal served now or later?” John asked. 

“Now is fine.” Enzo answered. 

He started to feel hungry about an hour ago, so there was no point in holding out for even longer when he could just perform his experiment later.

“Go to my wife at the bar, she will take your order.”
“Okay, thank you very much sir.”
John’s expressionless face changed into a smile.

“No, problem.”
‘He must not be treated well too often.’

Enzo made his way to the bar where a lady was serving drinks to another customer.

Enzo sat on one of the stools and waited for her to finish. When she did she came over to him.

“What can I get for you?” She asked.

“Could I see the menu please? I paid at the front.”
“Sure hun.”
She reached under the counter and gave Enzo a menu. 

After a minute or so of deliberation he decided what he wanted.
“I’ll have the cheeseburger with fries please.”
“Okay, you may have a seat anywhere and I will bring it to you when it’s ready.” She said with a smile. 

“Thanks Mrs…”
He looked at her ID.

“Sally.”

Enzo then went to sit at an empty table to wait for his food. 

It didn’t take long for Sally to bring out his plate, and it took even less time for Enzo to devour the delicious food. 

“I can see where that 5% of realism went.” Enzo mumbled. 

The food tasted exactly like it would on earth, if not even better. 

Once Enzo was done, he handed the plate to Sally and went up to his room. 

‘Time to experiment.’ He thought to himself.
