Thomas sighed while he read a small a piece of paper that stated
“Any new cases”
He could barely hold the paper still because he was still extremely sleepy due to the long walk. Or was it just his terrible physical condition? The assistant standing beside shook his head before he walked away leaving Thomas alone. Thomas sighed as he looked around for a clock. It prominently said
8:30
Thomas sighed as he looked at his desk. It was a mess of papers, books , sticky notes and pictures. The only thing that truly stuck out was a bright red sticky note hanging on the side of the desk saying
“Leaves at 12”
He smiled slightly at the misspelled note before a loud bell interrupted his peace. He looked forward through a small hole in the wall separating him and the noise and sighed as he saw a person. He tried to mentally prepare himself but as the expected noise arrived it said
“I want to file a prosecution against the superhero Inferno Man for destroying my property during a fight with a group of thugs”
Thomas lazily grabbed a sticky note and shown it to the man. The note said
“turn the evidence into the front office”

The man happily ran to do so. Thomas then started silently praying as he hoped he would not be chosen for the case. He prayed so hard most priests would begin to doubt themselves but sadly a loud
Bzzt
On a speaker grabbed his attention as he heard
“Mr. Thomas Paine we have a new case for you”
He let out an angry sigh as he slouched towards the front office and grabbed a small group of files on a table before going to a large desk against the wall. He said
“Thomas Paine”
Before suddenly a pile of papers and pictures slid out and into his hands. He grabbed a single field and shoved all the papers into there before grabbing another file and shoving the photos in it. He then took the two filled files and an empty one back to his desk as he sat down. He reached above his desk and grabbed a small blind that was hidden behind the wall as he yanked it down to cover the gap on the wall as he opened the files and cleared out an empty space on his desk as he shuffled out all the papers and pictures before reading through them. They were extensive about an excess use of power against a minor villain and destroying private property and refusing to settle. It was honestly sad how much evidence was against the fire hero but it didn’t matter as he threw the papers and their folder to the side as he grabbed his smaller folder and shuffled out the pictures. The pictures had poor quality but it was obvious to tell that a fire hero of some sort was encountering a small group of three thugs. The next was a picture of the thugs taking out some sort of black object only for the final three pictures to show the fire hero obliterating the thugs with fire before flying into the sky and using a big explosion of fire of sort, the final image showed not only the trees on a private property burning but also the grass and nearby buildings. Thomas sighed as he then shuffled his hand deep into the final folder to pull out a small phone number. Thomas then stood up and went to a phone and dialed the number before saying
“Hello sir your case against inferno man has been accepted please set a court date and start preparing witnesses.”
He heard a loud chuckle through the phone before ending the call and returning to his desk. He looked forward, unable to think that he had a single more assignment to do. He looked at the clock showing a beautiful
9:00
He smiled as he touched a button that was presumably an alarm as he fell asleep.
