"Fine, if that is what you want and if it would free you from this rage, guilt and pain, then have it. You can kill me. I promise I won't fight back. I would atone for my sins with my life but please I beg you, promise me one thing that even after my death, Jade, you would not hate yourself further."
Jade did not say anything and even though her heart that moment and she was mad at him, she felt a different kind of pain and this time around it was much more deeper and it felt like her mind, heart and body would be torn in shreds any second.
"Promise me that you would not let the guilt and pain of killing me destroy you. Live your life and be happy. If you must, leave the life of a killer and be free. That is my one wish."
Xander understood that as his mate, she would not be able to kill him but if by peradventure she did, he did not want the consequences to be dire. It would feel as though a part of her had been killed as well and she would not feel whole again.
"Because of our past, I would not kill you right now where you stand but know this, I would surely repay youy a visit and carry out my revenge." Her decision as well as her voice was firm.
Xander understood where she was coming from but he did not say anything. All he hoped that she would forgive herself in the future.
There was no better way to die for him, he would be glad to die by her hands with her eyes boring into his.
Without uttering any other word more to him, Jade turned around and went straight for his closet. Within the span of three minutes she was already dressed and came out. She looked at him once, he was still where he was, only that he stood with his head lowered.
Noticing her arrival, Xander raised his head and looked at her. "I await your arrival, Jade."
"No, await your death and know this, you cannot hide from me in this world. I would find you."
"I won't hide. I won't run, I would wait to be killed by your own hands and please honour me by doing it yourself. I want to die staring deep into the eyes of the woman I love."
"Love is overrated. All I feel for you now is pure hatred."
Jade turned around swiftly. Luckily for her a few of her clothes he bought for her, remained in his house, so she changed into that and made her way out.
At first she had expected him to follow after her of which would have gotten her angry but surprisingly he didn't and she was glad he didn't, then she left the room only for her to come face to face with all her friends and the face of one men she did not know if she wanted to see at the moment.
She looked at all of them first before letting her gaze remain on him. His eyes held a mixture of pain and hope. It was as though he knew what she was going through but did not say anything.
In as much as she wanted to smile at him, she could not force herself to do so. After some seconds she moved her gaze at Asia.
Her heart broke when she saw her friend. She was better than this honestly. Asia looked thinner than when she last saw her. No doubt it was all as a result of the torture she had to endure in the hands of Zale, that vile creature.
"Jade." This time shew took a step forward. "I am sorry, master. Forgive me.' As she finished saying this she bent her head and bowed to her.
She knew that her father's choice to save her only brought her master more pain than anyone could imagine.
As a bodyguard it was her life last. That was how it should be and not the other way around. "Forgive me and forgive my father for what he had done."
"Asia." It was the first time she was pronouncing her name out loud since she woke up and it sounded sweet on her lips as well as it gave her hope.
If there was one thing she gained from this ]whole ordeal was having her bodyguard and best friend safe and sound. Nothing else mattered as much as that did.
"I am okay. I am glad you are alive. Although now lean due to your months of suffering but do not worry, I would make them all pay for what they did."
"Thanks but you do not have to." Asia's voice broke with those words. Of course she did not have to but she needed to. Jade was the kind of person that could visit vengeance just the same way it was given.
"Yes but I must. No one touches my own and go scot free from it. I am the daughter of the deadly iceberg. I would revisit my father's rage on his wrong doers seven fold."
"So what does that say fore Xander?" Everyone turned their heads to the side. They watched as Jay walked over to where they stood. Their eyes darted between Jay and Jade. He was the only one who had dared to say that to her after everything."
"I am sorry, Jay but he wouldn't go free either."
"Jade!"
"You would do well to not try and stop me, if you do… I cannot say I would be lenient."
"Jade, you love him," Jay's voice remained soft. He wanted to touch her heart and if that was the former Jade they knew, yes but the Jade presently with them now did not care so much with that.
"And he killed my family. Why doesn't his wrong count but mine would?"
"An eye for an eye, is the aspect of life that people should learn not to follow."
