Chapter 4: Ch 4 – Marian’s alibi

The following was written on the basketball record:

"Succi- 10:00-10:55"

Mew- 14:10-16:50  16:53-16:53"

Hori- 14:10-15:20  16:00-16:50  16:55-16:55"

Marian- 21:01-23:10"

 "I'll take a picture of that.” said Fushichin.  

"What about the lock and unlock records of the rooms?" asked Fushichin. 

"Sure." said Marian.  

Mar "The record only keeps track of electronic door locks. Not every door in the mansion."

Fushi "I understand that."

Mar "What is the timeline you are most interested in to get a display of?"

Fushi "Hmm, the day of the murder. Starting from 9 am"

Mar "Okay."

Marian typed a few keys and displayed a timeline. The timeline reported whose door was locked or unlocked at any given moment during the day.

The following text was shown:

“9:50 AM - Jude’s room door was unlocked.

9:50 AM - Jude’s room door was locked.

10:02 AM-Hori’s room door was unlocked.

10:02 AM-Hori’s room door was locked.

10:05 AM- Tenma, Marian’s room door was unlocked.

10:05 AM- Mew’s room door was unlocked.

10:05 AM- Mew’s room door was locked.

10:55 AM-Hori’s room door was unlocked.

10:55 AM-Hori’s room door was locked.

11:03 AM- Jude’s room door was unlocked.

11:03 AM- Jude’s room door was locked.

12:48 PM- Mew’s room door was unlocked.

12:49 PM- Mew’s room door was locked.

13:01 PM- Mew’s room door was unlocked.

13:03 PM- Mew’s room door was locked.

13:40 PM- Succi’s room door was unlocked.

13:40 PM- Succi’s room door was locked.

13:55 PM- Succi’s room door was unlocked.

13:55 PM- Succi’s room door was locked.

19:10 PM- Yumiko’s room door was unlocked

19:11 PM- Yumiko’s room door was locked.

19:20 PM- Hori’s room door was unlocked

19:20 PM- Hori’s room door was locked.

20:05 PM- Mew’s room door was unlocked.

20:40 PM- Yumiko’s room door was unlocked.

20:30 PM- Mew’s room door was locked.

21:00 PM- Yumiko’s room door was locked.

23:20 PM- Mew’s room door was unlocked.

23:20 PM- Mew’s room door was locked.            

00:20 AM - Hori's room door was unlocked.”

"Okay, let me just take a good picture of that...and done." said Fushichin playfully as he snapped the shutter of his phone.   

"Well, certainly that record will be helpful. But I would like to get your alibi as well, Miss Marian." said Fushichin.  

"Oh, of course." said Marian.

"Start from morning till you find the body and the police came." said Fushichin.  

"8 AM - Woke up. Got dressed. Saw Tenma waking up, being especially happy and cheerful next to me. I locked the door of our room when we left.

 9 AM - Our family ate breakfast at the dining hall.

10 AM - I relaxed in my room for a while.

11 AM- I went onto the balcony to take a nice breath of fresh air.

12 PM- I went back in my room to rest.

13 PM- Tenma entered the room and reminded me that it’s his fasting day. He then left.

I realized I need to tell this to the servants so I entered the kitchen and asked Yumiko and Jude what they were cooking.

When they said spaghetti, I said that Tenma was not eating dinner because he was gonna have his once a week fasting. Then I left.  

14 PM- I entered the library and read books for a while.

15 PM- I entered the dining hall and asked Yumiko to come with me. She followed me. We chatted for a while and separated.

I went to the kitchen to relax there a bit.

16 PM- I went out and walked at the back of the mansion.

18 PM- I entered the kitchen. A little while after Jude and Yumiko entered the kitchen.

Yumiko started searching for our family cups. She gave the ones she found to Jude. Jude washed them in the sink."

I made sure to examine and make sure he was washing them right. Yumiko then cleaned the cups while I watched them. Jude and Yumiko left with the cups while I followed them. Sorry, am I blabbering too much?" 

Marian looked at him, little concerned. Fushichin shook his head.    

"No no. I like your style. You're doing a great job milady. Keep it detailed, especially about things that you found odd." said Fushichin.  

Marian continued:

"After we arrived everyone started eating their spaghetti except Tenma and Joseph. There was something strange about Tenma. His clothes were wrinkled. And I believe his shirt collar was ripped at the back side. 

“Hoho, his clothes were wrinkled you say?" asked Fushichin with a happy smile.  

"Yes, almost as if he rolled on the ground or something." said Marian musingly as she put her fist under her chin.  

"I see. And his collar was ripped. I noticed that too upon seeing Tenma's body.

And I thought it was caused by the struggle between the culprit and the victim. But I guess that was wrong. Please continue." said Fushichin while looking down with introspection.    

"Succi also didn’t want to eat the spaghetti but I scolded him into eating the food. That boy lives to imitate others smh.” said Marian and actually shook her head. 

Marian then continued.  

“Everyone drank tea except Mikhail who preferred to not drink tea at all. Jude and Yumiko took all the plates, pots away to wash them.

After a while I entered the kitchen and personally thanked Yumiko and Jude for the meal then left.

19 PM- I went to the second floor and arrived at the family room. I was sitting on one of the chairs in the family room when Hori entered from the large hall into the room.

She and I exchanged some eye contact until Hori decided to enter her own room, shut the door and lock it.

I decided to get some fresh air so I went downstairs. When I was at the main hall I encountered Reiner. We both exited the house."

20 PM - I chatted with Reiner for a while.”

"What did you chat about?" asked Fushichin with curiosity.  

"About Reiner's life. About the security of the mansion and some other nonsense. I don't think that's related to the case." said Marian dismissively.  

"I'll be the judge of that but go on." said Fushichin.  

"Oh and while Reiner and I were chatting Joseph came to us from outside the mansion, greeted us and entered the mansion through the front door."

21 PM - I was bored so I left Reiner and decided to enter the basketball court and play basketball for a while. Movement is health, afterall.

23 PM- I left the basketball court. When I started walking towards the door of the mansion

I saw Jude sitting on the ground, gazing at the stars.

I gazed into the main hall through the window to see Jack, Mikhail, Nile, George entering the garage while Succi and Reiner followed them as well. I entered the main hall, went upstairs and headed for my bedroom. When I arrived at the funroom, Tenma’s bedroom door was open.

When I entered...I… saw the most gruesome image in my life. Tenma was dead with a knife in his chest! There was blood everywhere.

I ran back into the main hall to encounter Succi, Mew and Reiner there. I yelled at them about how I found Tenma dead on his bed with a knife in his chest. Reiner told me to quickly call the police. I pulled up my phone and did just that. Afterwards we started running around and finding anyone we could to alert them about Tenma’s death.

During this search I found out that Hori was not in her room and furthermore we couldn’t even find her no matter how much we searched her in the mansion."

"Hmm, so Hori has been missing since 19." said Fushichin while pondering. 

"There is something worth noting in regards to Hori's disappearance. Specifically concerning the door unlock and lock record." said Fushichin.  

"Umm, what are you talking about?" asked Marian with confusion.
