Chapter 9: V1C9 – Have you heard?

"Have you heard? There's a new [Magical Girl] defending Tokyo. They aren't affiliated with the government either."

"Really? What's her name?"

"It seems that they're calling her the [Ethereal Princess of Darkness]. This is a rumor but I heard that someone overheard her talking to her [Focal] who called her 'Aki.' She's a beauty with black hair who single-handedly crushes [Curses] with dark flames and lightning."

"Magical Girl Aki huh...that's seriously wicked."

"True...there are also a lot of mysteries around her. Everyone who's tried to tail her has been shaken off. We can probably assume she lives in Tokyo somewhere though. But, no one knows who she is. Surely, people would remember that beauty right?"

"Hmm, well let's just appreciate the [Ethereal Princess of Darkness] that's cleaning up the [Curses] around here for us."

"Agreed."

It's been nearly four and a half months since becoming a [Magical Girl]. I have racked up quite the name for myself, [Ethereal Princess of Darkness], who's that supposed to be? Well, it's the result of saving lives so I welcome it with open arms. Really all I did was go out and kill [Curses] daily but I guess that makes a big difference.

Speaking of that, I learned something essential about my [Mana Drain]. Apparently, I don't need to vanquish a foe to receive all their mana, well that's the fastest way. But, it turns out that I can drain mana from anything as long as I'm touching it. It's just a fact that I found out about my ability recently, though it's not like I can touch a [Curse] for an extended amount of time.

On that thought, my mana pool has increased to I'd say a monstrous degree. It holds the dark mana of hundreds and hundreds of [Curses] after all. Along with this is my mana manipulation training. I can freely shift focus and allocate mana to various parts of my physical body and enhance them instantly. This includes more sensitive parts after hard work, like my ears and eyes which have their respective senses enhanced. Another one is my sense of taste and smell, but those aren't particularly useful. Lastly, my throat can be enhanced to make my voice louder which might be helpful...somehow...?

Anyways, next, I practiced strengthening and sharpening my two manifestable cutlasses, [Realizer]. I can maintain them for long periods of time and manifest or unmanifest them rapidly depending on the situation due to training and mana capacity. The most notable ability they gained is being able to withstand multiple of my mana attacks, even the vortex-like ones.

Another thing I practiced, was the use of more magic from the 8 main attribute types [Fire, Water(includes ice), Earth, Wind, Lightning, Light, Darkness, Spacetime]. I can manipulate the ones I have affinities with well even decently a little outside my body. The others are still at a basic level but simple enhancement layering on [Realizer] shouldn't be a problem. Anyways, the spacetime attribute that I had yet to try can actually be broken into multiple parts. These parts are [Time, Gravity, Space] of which I only have an affinity for gravity. I can't really put it into a [Core Grenade] since it requires specific inputs but I can still use it fine occasionally outside of that.

Changing the topic, my battle sense is more developed than most now too. After all, I've been subject to the killing attempts of beasts for months and have been killing them for months. I'm even familiar with how to combat some human techniques because of human [Curses].

I've used [Neutralizer] from Yoru a bit, but it doesn't make me feel like I'm learning much so I limit my use. Actually, [Neutralizer] is an even more amazing tool than I initially thought. It has multiple forms other than [Handgun]. It also has a [Knife] and [Sniper] mode as well. The knife is a standard but amazing blade while the sniper rifle mode can reach many times further than current human weaponry with an even more frightening chance to kill the target (laser). I'm too scared to flow mana through this precise alien equipment so I'll refrain.

Anyways, it's been a while since becoming a [Magicl Girl] and [First Contact], maybe it's time to rejoin society and talk to people again...well, I'll soon have the perfect opportunity for it because of my high school reopening and having to start 2nd-year. I can live as a normal high school student Akito Harada and [Magical Girl Aki] at the same time! The prospect of such a double life excites me inside. While recounting the things that happened in the past months,

I've been ruthlessly murdering [Curses] left and right. Beasts, humans, even ones that look like blobs of flesh amalgamated together. Nothing can stand in my way with my masterful use of mana enhancement! The monsters were mowed down in an instant and their strength was added to mine through [Mana Drain]. After finishing them all off, they dispersed into the air like a cloudy fog, and I unmanifested my [Realizers]. Yoru,

"To think you have become such a powerful [Magical Girl]..."

"Rapidly growing [Magical Girls] aren't anything special since there were some who fought off [Curses] right after obtaining their power you know?"

"Well, you have to be one of the strongest by now right? After all, your mana capacity even makes me marvel at it."

"Thanks for that. Anyways, did you request the thing I asked for?"

"Yeah yeah. No promises on if you'll get anything though."

"Thanks for trying anyway Yoru."

Ai Nakano is the center for a popular idol group that mainly appeals to young adults and teens. Ai Nakano's presence, in particular, is so powerful that it can flip the entire atmosphere of a show on its head. To finish their high school education. The company was against it, but she pushed stubbornly for the chance. They said," What's the use for that in your position?" But, she didn't listen and took a break anyway. She is to begin her 2nd-year of high school soon, in a completely normal one where she can fit in and study under her 'ideal' conditions. That is Ai Nakano, former idol, and [Magical Girl].
