Chapter 19: Book 1 – Chapter 19

Kaguya and the other two seniors were planning on challenging a mission during the day, and had come to chase after the Stigma Hunter.

 

“Hikaru was chasing the Illegal Magic User called Earth Snake here. His contracted Spirit is unknown. Because he uses that escape Magic, he is able to rapidly escape, so she wasn’t able to capture him.”

 

“His chanting time is almost zero…” Kazuki murmured.

 

“The Illegal Magic Users are basically like that. They practically used a special Contract called ‘Overdrive’, to summon the Spirit into their body. We Summoners, chant a Spell, which is basically requesting phenomena through the Spirit in Animus Mundus -- and then lend it our Magic Power with which to change reality. But, having the Spirit directly in the body, cuts out the chanting time.” Kaguya explained.

 

“Put put it simply, Illegal Magic Users are stronger than we are -- because they can directly use the Spirit.”

 

“But, it’s not entirely a good thing.” Hikaru’s expression became clouded and continued to speak when Kaguya paused, “If you use Overdrive, along with the more you use Magic, the faster your mentality will be corroded by the Spirit’s much more powerful mind -- even if they don’t do this directly. In the end, the Spirit will take over your husk. All of this allows the Spirit to gain a physical body, they would also be affected by Overdrive -- being driven mad and become berserk. The ones that the Knights have captured are in this situation.”

 

“But, Earth Snake could have already directly obtained a physical body. There is no doubt about that -- I had hoped that that last attack would be able to completely deprive his Magic Power, but in the end, I still let him get away…”

 

“I shouldn’t have had the goal of capturing him alive…using Hell’s Imaginary Flame to directly kill him.” Kaguya whispered in a dark tone.

 

Viewing her from the side, it wasn’t the gentle and playful senior that Kazuki was getting used to seeing. There was a deeper darkness inside her--

 

But, the next instant, Kaguya’s serious expression disappeared.

 

“S, Speaking of which, Kazuki. Y, You guys are heading back after a d, date?! The stars are so beautiful, it really is a beautiful night!” Hikaru asked with an excited voice.

 

The atmosphere slowly relaxed. Suddenly, Kazuki could see the normal appearance of his seniors again.

 

Because it was an actual battle, Kaguya didn’t wear a robe. Her Magic Armour was still the same, and highly revealing.

 

Hikaru’s Magic Armour is sleeveless -- and had a level of exposure that was greater than Mio, but much less than Kaguya.

 

Koyuki’s Magic Armour was light a white version of Mio’s.

“Really now, Kazuki. Looking at others with strange eyes isn’t allowed! This appearance is for the purpose of fighting.” Kazuki changed back into her normal uniform and smiled at Kazuki while jokingly scolding him.

 

“...I’m a bit tired after using Summoning Magic. Everybody, let’s go back.” She continued.

The purpose of his date had been achieved. Mio’s positivity levels had increased significantly.

 

After Kazuki turned off the lights in his room, he lay on his bed, feeling exhausted.

 

However -- no new Spells came into his mind. What had happened?

 

When he first wanted to learn how to use Barrett, a Spell appeared in his mind. But even though he was searching for the other levels of Magic from Phenex, no new Spells appeared.

 

“Strange, if the positivity level is 100, then it should not be impossible to use..” Leme, who was laying next to Kazuki, whispered. “In the worst case, there is still a cheat that you can use.”

 

“A cheat? If there is this kind of thing, why didn’t you tell me earlier?” Kazuki looked down at the girl pressed against him, only her head visible above the blanket.

 

“The path of the Magic Power that is established through positivity levels can be temporarily expanded through an action like a Magic Contract.”

 

“An action like a Magic Contract?”

 

“Think back to the scene when you contracted Leme. Oii, don’t blush! In other words, it is a kiss. KISS. As long as you kiss, the path will be temporarily expanded. During that short time, you will be able to use all levels of the Summoning Levels. That way, you can easily win the competition.”

 

Leme narrowed her eyes, “However, a path that is expanded through a kiss would only be usable once on a single person -- you won’t be able to use the cheat on the same target a second time. If you can choose not to use it, it would be best not to. This is the ultimate Trump Card.”

 

Kazuki turned his gaze from Leme and stared up at the ceiling as he considered it -- although he decided to avoid using it until absolutely necessary.
