A large lump of stone suddenly flew over and crushed the location where Mio was standing only moments before.

 

“Magic?!” Mio suddenly shouted in surprise.

 

While Kazuki dodged, he turned his back and looked.

 

There was a man dressed in dirty clothing chasing after them -- his clothing was tattered and his eyes gave off a feeling of anger and mental instability.

 

The man looked like he was only a few years older than Kazuki. But, the Magic he used wasn’t normal Magic.

 

“Illegal Magic User? Stigma Hunter!” Mio noticed the same things.

 

The man’s body emitted light.

 

Kazuki and Mio were shocked.

 

This person -- he didn’t even chant a Spell.

 

“Rubble bullet!”

 

At the same time, an oddly inorganic voice came from his open mouth.

 

The asphalt was ripped up piece by piece and began floating into the air.

 

Then the rubble flew over.

 

Kazuki continued to carry Mio while sprinting at full speed, carefully dodging the flying stones.

 

“W, Wait a minute, Kazuki! T, This is…Princess carry!”

 

“...Rubble Bullet.”

 

Although the Spell only flew in a straight line -- making it easier to dodge -- the fact that there was no chant increased the difficulty.

 

“Mio, I will be responsible for evasion, quickly use your Summoning Magic!”

 

“How can I concentrate in this kind of posture?!”

 

“Well, I feel that it is an excellent strategy…Right now, I can use neither sword or Summoning Magic.”

 

Kazuki’s Magic Power was almost completely used up during his special training before. He was struggling to use his Physically Enhancement Magic…only by reading his opponent’s Magic was he able to barely dodge the enemy’s attack.

 

“...This is bad, my hands are going numb.” Kazuki murmured.

 

“Just watch and see,” Mio said, pushing Kazuki’s hands open, carefully landing on the ground.

 

“Everything that touches it will be burned…The scorching heat that denies approach! Conflagration Armour!” Mio chanted, raising one hand towards the sky.

Brilliant flames appeared from thin air, swirling around, becoming a flaming armour that protected her body.

 

The rubble that had been flying towards Mio was burned, incinerated into ash that slowly settled to the ground at her feet.

 

“A new Summoning Magic? Phenex’s level 3?!” Kazuki let out.

 

“Barrett!” Mio immediately activated the level 1 Spell to counterattack.

 

“Titan Wall!”

 

The man didn’t show any change in emotions as he stomped on the ground.

 

A thick barrier of earth appeared -- the Barrett was absorbed by the Magically enhanced stone.

 

The next exchange of Attack Magic by Mio and the man were each offset by the other’s Defensive Magic.

 

But, a long term battle would leave Mio at a disadvantage -- the enemy’s Magic was continuous…which gave him a massive advantage.

 

Kazuki was beginning to feel nervous, looking around for a broken pipe or piece of metal that he could substitute for a sword -- when he felt an explosive release of Magic Power appear from behind him.

 

Spinning around, he saw Kaguya, who was glowing with purple Magic, standing calmly.

 

The amount of Magic Power swirling around her was of a completely different level -- it was a high-level Summoning Magic that Kazuki and the others were far behind.

 

“...Twilight Spectre!”

 

As she spoke the final words of her Spell, a creepy laughter resounded out in all directions.

 

Inside the wall of earth, the shadow expanding from behind the man suddenly swelled, becoming like a massive Monster with darkness for a face.

 

The man was shocked.

 

The moment that he turned back, the Monster opened its mouth and swallowed him from the head -- just like a snake swallowing its prey.

 

An intense blue light flashed. The Defensive Magic appeared instantly, protecting the man’s body and causing him to fly out of the Monster’s mouth.

 

Although he had avoided falling into a state of Emptied, it was clear that his Magic Power was almost completely gone.

 

“Earth Release -- Land Escape!”

 

With those words, the man began to change. His mouth extended forwards, his nose and lips melting and merging together. The white of his eyeballs vanished as his pupils rapidly expanded and all of his hair fell out. His arms and legs integrated into his body. The man became a huge snake. With a strange hissing noise, he dove forwards and his head drilled into the ground, assimilating into it.

 

“I let him get away again!” Kaguya exclaimed with a regretful voice.

 

“Senior…Why are you here?”

 

The same time that Kazuki asked this, Hikaru, and Koyuki -- both of whom were wearing their Magic Armour -- ran over from behind Kaguya.
