“Kazuki, you don’t have to access Animus Mundus beforehand, do you?” Koyuki, the referee, inquired.
“My Magic Armour is in the form of the ring that is always on my finger. Heh, it looks like I’m constantly connected with Leme.” Kazuki replied with a grin.
“Is that so. Somehow, it seems indecent. Anyway, let’s start soon.”
“Ah, please wait a little! My heart is still preparing!” Iori said, inhaling deeply.
After releasing her breath, Iori calmed down, her expression becoming like that of a different person.
She hung her head, “Kazuki, master Kanae has told me a lot about you. First daughter of the Kamiizumi Family, Iori, respectfully states her wish for a match.”
“I accept.” Kazuki replied, bowing his head to Iori in return.
The two competitors straightened.
“Then, the preparations are complete…Begin!”
As soon as she finished her words, Koyuki blew her whistle.
***
Iori drew her sword, charging towards Kazuki without a word.
The outcome of this will decide if I can stay in the Magic Division.
“...Barrett!” Kazuki had anticipated the attack, responding with Summoning Magic.
But the advancing Iori flickered like a heat haze, the fire bullets were avoided. She didn’t decelerate at all -- seeing the quality of her movements, Kazuki gave up on hitting her from the front with Barrett. Evading the second Barrett, which had been launched half a second after the first, Iori succeeded in drawing close.
She swung her shortsword.
Kazuki read her movement and bent his back, dodging Iori’s sword by a few centimeters. He had to rely on reading her muscle movement and sight-lines to avoid the sword, because Iori didn’t put any Mana into her attack.
“As expected of master Kanae’s big brother!” There was admiration in Iori’s voice.
Kazuki, while still bent backwards, unleashed a forward kick.
Because she wasn’t expecting this, Iori was surprised.
Of course, with Defensive Magic, a front kick -- especially while the one who launched it was off-balanced posture -- no damage was produced.
However, Kazuki’s foot was repelled by the backlash of Iori’s Defensive Magic.
Using this reaction, Kazuki jumped a large distance backwards. He made use of this distraction to use Enhancement Magic and gain even more distance.
Kazuki fired another Barrett, but Iori avoided it easily and rushed towards him already swinging her shortsword.
While he couldn’t engage in close combat without a sword, he could still dodge and escape. So he continued to use kicks and rebounds to keep escaping.
Even unarmed, Kazuki was evenly matched with Iori.
“...Kazuki! Use my Summoning Magic! If you use it, you can win!! --My compatibility with you is aaabsolutely not bad, I believe!!” Kaguya shouted from the ringside.
Kazuki unintentionally got distracted as he looked up at Kaguya, who currently had an upset and worried expression.
As expected -- I want to think that I’m liked by this senior…I want to be liked even more by her.
Kaguya’s positivity number appeared floating in front of him: 68.
Followed by the incantation for Asmodeus’s first level Magic.
Iori was rushing towards him, ready to attack any time. Kazuki -- in order to recite Asmodeus’s Spell -- desperately earned some distance.
“I know thy name…Thy name is Asmodeus!” Kazuki began, the Stigma on his hand beginning to shine a deep violet colour.
Kazuki could hear Asmodeus laughing from deep within Animus Mundus.
“...Desire Tentacle!” Kazuki finished his chant.
At the same time, a fissure appeared under Iori’s feet. From the darkness within -- a large tentacle emerged, followed by many more.
Asmodeus’s level 1 Summoning Magic, Tentacle Magic.
Iori avoided the tentacles using Foresight. But, they persistently followed her -- one of the succeeded in wrapping around one of her ankles. Because of the eerie, slimy sensation, Iori let out an “Hii!”.
She managed to cut the tentacle, but many more continued to chase her.
For a Knight who’s style depended on agility, this was one of the worst enemies -- for a woman…it was even worse.

“...My Spirit’s Summoning Magic. There is only disgusting things. I’m really sorry.”
In the stands, Kaguya was falling into self-disgust.
Kazuki glanced over, noticing that Mio was glaring at him for some reason.
Suddenly, new Spells appeared in his mind -- more of Phenex’s Magic.
Kazuki began chanting.
In the stands, Kanae sensed the unusual phenomenon.
“Iori, don’t get distracted by those tentacles! Big brother has earned time to chant!”
Iori, who had been struggling to escape the tentacles, turned her attention back to Kazuki. Her face showed impatience as she broke into a run, raising her sword towards Kazuki -- at the same time, the tentacles behind her managed to entangle her legs.
Because of this, Iori was too late.
Kazuki’s Stigma was glowing brilliantly, “…Blazing Wings!”
Maybe triggered by Mio’s jealousy, the appropriate levels of Magic were unlocked for a Positivity Value of 100 -- Level 5.
Intense heat swirled as wings made from flame emerged from Kazuki’s back, rocketing him into the sky.
Iori’s slash hit only empty air.
Kazuki stared down at Iori.
Knowing that her sword was useless in this situation, all she could do was look upwards in blank amazement.
Fluttering his wings, Kazuki swooped down towards Iori. Acting on instinct, he brought his wings forwards, like a flaming sword-blade with a length of 10 meters.
With his speed, there was no way that Iori could dodge him -- even with her foresight. She was mowed down by the massive flame blade, the blue glow of her Defensive Magic is smashed upwards, like oceanic sprays.
“It’s over!” Koyuki said, panicking slightly -- worried that Iori would fall into a state of Emptied.
Iori screamed as her Magic Power was thoroughly ground away.
Kazuki also felt flustered, not expecting the extent of strength that was released by his Spell. Because of his panic, the flaming wings disappeared and he fell onto the ground.
Koyuki was a little dumbfounded but she finally got around to blowing her whistle.
Cheering and clapping reverberated.

Victory.
Even though before the fight, neither Division thought that Kazuki would win. His victory was earned through the bonds that he had formed in the Magic Division.
“Are you okay, senior Iori?” Kazuki asked, extending a hand towards the girl.
“My, uniform is all burned up. I almost became a well-done girl, you know--”
The moment Iori took Kazuki’s hand and stood up, her uniform and underwear suddenly crumbled to ash.
She let out another scream and crouched down.
Kazuki panicked and held out his blazer.
Koyuki looked down a cold gaze, “Kazuki…Why did your Magic only burn her clothes? Is it an Original Magic…”
He glared up at her, “There’s no way that I can do something so skillful! I just don’t understand the degree of power, that’s all!”
Iori bowed her head down politely, before rushing off and rapidly disappearing from the arena.
“Congratulations, Kazuki. --It’s going well, isn’t it. Though I think that method of winning is somehow strange.” Mio said as she approached, meeting Kazuki halfway to the stands, an honest smile on her face.
“Older brother…”
With a dissatisfied expression, Kanae sullenly approached.
“Older brother with wings of flame spread wide…The impression of an angel was really cool!” She said, her cheeks red.
“I cannot consent, but…if you display such powerful Summoning Magic, it’s impossible not to accept it.” Even while pouting, Kanae gave her acceptance.
“Kanae, I’ll remain in the Magic Division.” Kazuki said. “The Student Council of the Magic has become an important place for me too.”
