Prologue: Kooky Headhunter

(3rd POV)

An edgy looking woman and a young lady faced off at the most recent high society event. She’d heard rumors about this woman, but hadn’t met her until now. Inna Sane, a headhunter who frequented such events as this and only occasionally made a good connection between employer and employee. Some people call her crazy, but don’t say she’s insane. That sets her off, probably due to her name.

“I’ve a prospective employee I think you’ll be very interested in.”~Inna

Inna was excited. She’d gotten this employee resume from her office mail shoot this morning with a note attached. It simply stated that she needed to advertise this employee to a specific person, that her commission fee if successful would be twenty-five grand and that she was not allowed to look at the contract inside the envelope.

A basic resume for a beautiful young woman was affixed to the outside of the envelope revealing some great credentials and desired position as a personal assistant and live-in maid.

“I wasn’t really looking to hire anyone.”~young lady

She tried to give the envelope back that the woman had practically shoved at her, but Inna just threw up her hands and backed away.

“You keep it. I’m just the middleman. If you decide that you don’t want her, just throw it away. Ah, but a resume has confidential info. You’ll have to hang onto it at least until you can dispose of it properly. Reading it should give you something to do at least, even if you don’t hire her. Laters!”~Inna

And she ran away! Not literally of course, but same difference. She did get one thing right though. The cocktail party tonight was an utter drag. Might as well give it a read to stave off boredom.

---Twenty minutes later :: In one of the venues empty conference rooms---

“What the fuck!?!”~young lady

This contract seemed more like a purchase order for a brainwashed slave rather than an employee! She was very tempted to straight up call the cops.

Calming down a bit, she decided that even human traffickers wouldn’t be stupid enought to prepare something like a slave contract. A note on the contract even suggested she call the prospective employee’s number for any needed clarification. The number was right there on the resume. She decided to try a video call so she could better see the situation.

“Hello. Lilianna Hart speaking.”~Lilianna

Promising start. The beautiful girl who answered the phone looks to be in good health, does apparently have a smart phone of her own and the parts of the big room that she can see are brightly lit with well maintained furniture.

“Hi, this is Isabella Edele. Addressed as Bella. I was just looking at your resume and contract and wanted to clarify a few things.”~Bella

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Bella. I usually go by Lily. I’d be happy to answer your questions.”~Lily

“I’m not too good with legalese, so what’s with all the mind control mumbo jumbo?”~Bella

*Giggle* ”Sorry, I liked your wording. Hm, the best way to say it is that I was the one in control? Yes, that’s a good way to present it. I approved each and every mental alteration while being fully cognizant of the details.”~Lily

“Okay? But how can you be sure they only made approved changes?”~Bella

“A hypnosis technique they called ‘sidelining’. They push the conscious mind to the side, not putting it asleep, in order to address the subconscious. The conscious mind remains awake and aware during the whole process.”~Lily

“And the changes that were made?”~Bella

“Disassociated or buried some bad habits. Formed new associations to promote good habits. Implanted some suggestions to assure quality work, confidentiality and loyalty to my employer. There’s also some added protections to prevent unwanted mental intrusion, some quality of life stuff and failsafes.”~Lily

“Quality, confidentiality and loyalty to what extent exactly?”~Bella

“A work ethic that borders on OCD perfectionism, absolute secrecy for anything short of permanent physical harm and no questions asked compliance for any reasonable command.”~Lily

*Gasp* “Isn’t that a little extreme?”~Bella

“The better question is whether you can bear to not hire me when I come with such extremely great traits? With such thorough training, it ensures that for the duration of the contract that my employer would practically own all of me, heart, body and mind.”~Lily

Lily practically purred the last three words and licked her lips, leaving Bella to daze for a bit. Bella wants to be offended by the smirk on Lily’s face, but she can’t come up with any convincing argument. She had her right where she wanted and they both knew it.

The energetic cutie on the phone seemed nothing like those Hollywood film hypnosis victims she had expected and she found herself quite taken by her proposition. Bella promised to have a lawyer check it out first and would hire her once she had their okay.

Hanging up, Lily turned back to her computer, put her earbuds in and resumed the soundtrack she had pause during the call. Her eyes glazed over a bit as she continued working with something on the computer. All the while, she seemed to mumble something over and over again in an endless loop along with the soundtrack.

“My service brings order, order brings structure, structure brings clarity, clarity brings purpose, purpose brings happiness, I’m happy to serve…”
