A rich young lady sat in her mansion’s parlor across from one of the family human resource(HR) lawyers who was reviewing a strange employment contract she’d brought home from her latest function. She was exceptionally good looking. Her mother was a supermodel before giving birth to her and her father is a billionaire business tycoon.
“Well, is it legal?”~young lady
“Though the moral implications of something like this might be questionable to some, everything legally checks out. You, at the very least, won’t face any legal blowback on that front Miss Edele.”~lawyer
She stiffened when she heard him call her by her last name. The last name of her father was something she was still getting used to.
“But?”~Miss Edele
“I did some checking. The headhunter who brought you this is infamous for their hit or miss track record. And you might face some human rights protests if the contents of the contract were to be leaked. Nothing that can’t be handled of course. Just so you’re aware. The company listed is new and no detailed information could be found about it.”~lawyer
“And how is the price?”~Miss Edele
She needed to ask as she hadn’t always been rich and couldn’t tell if the deal was good. Her single mother had raised her until the day she died from cancer just recently. On her deathbed, her mother confessed that her father is still alive and how to contact him.
“The expense is reasonable for a personal assistant plus maid, especially considering your status. Of the five hundred thousand payment, ten percent goes to the company and the rest goes into an escrow account to be managed by a well known investment firm. The employee will only get the full payout from that account on completion of the ten year contract. That’s an average of forty-five grand a year, plus interest. Day-to-day expenses are left to the employer, you, to pay. This is smart on their part since she’ll be working closely with you and a normal wage wouldn’t even be enough to even dress the part.”~lawyer
“What about the employee, the girl’s qualifications? Do they match up to what I need?”~Miss Edele

This was the most important part. Ever since she had made the phone call last month to let her father know that she existed, she’d been struggling to adapt. Her father is a $$! Besides his good looks, his only redeeming quality is his money. He paid off the debt she’d accrued from her mom’s medical expenses, set her up with a nice mansion and gave her a million dollar monthly spending allowance.
The problem came when he told her what he required from her as his daughter. She was expected to go to university and graduate with at least a four year degree. Also, every weekend she needed to pick one high society function to attend and stay for at least half the event’s time.
She was already in her senior year of high school, just turned eighteen this month and had missed months of classes while looking after her sick mom. Playing catch up is not fun. It was already early spring and she would probably have to cram through the summer, apply for a late graduation and then somehow be accepted by university in the fall.
The social functions were just as bad. She didn’t really fit in well. Her fashion sense was too unrefined, the other attendees’ conversations were impossible for her to follow and she lacked the rich lady aura everyone else seemed to radiate. The only saving grace she had were her good genes and that her mom had insistently made her do some basic skin care.
“I did a background check of course. In a way, you could say that she is your opposite. She grew up as a rich young lady until the age of sixteen when her parents both died in an accident. After that, her relatives snatched her inheritance and pretty much tossed her out on the street. For a long while since, she had been bouncing around various friends’ homes. Investigating further, we learned that the reason she could stay so long and often with her friends without being kicked out was because of her excellent academics. Whichever friend she stayed with always noticeably improved during her stay. She has exhausted that option, but managed to graduate early recently and is currently renting a small apartment she can barely afford by tutoring.”~lawyer
The young lady’s eyes sparkled a bit when hearing such great news. But quickly dimmed again soon after.
“And my social needs?”~Miss Edele
“She learned ballet from an early age, giving her better poise than most ladies of status. Her fashion sense is on point despite her circumstances. We don't know if she has kept up with trends for discussion topics, but it’s safe to assume that she’d be better than you even if she’s missed the last two years. Overall, I’d say that she can help you train up your deficiencies nicely.”~lawyer
Lily really was the answer to her prayers. She’d gotten to know the girl pretty well through calls and messages and had been hoping that everything would work out.
Under the lawyer’s guidance, she filled out the employer portion of the dubious contract and sent a digital copy to the provided email along with the money. It is called dubious due to terms like hypnotic suggestion, behavior conditioning, mental programming and other like things being prevalent throughout. This mind boggling contract was getting buried in her safe where it will hopefully never see the light of day again.
