Mana: A Key to the Omniverse

Review: 9.8/10 from 6 ratings

Humanity had branched out to the unexplored corners of the universe, long achieving their ambition to traverse effortlessly between stars. They build large colonies and terraformed entire worlds. They could now harness the power of the stars to fuel their impressive automations.

No longer did they pray to abstract all-powerful beings, for they could now create new life at a push of a button. No longer did they seek out other forms of intelligent life, for they had already conquered hundreds of worlds. All was good, until an old but familiar evil reared its head.

War.

A great civil war that spanned thousands of planets, and touched the lives of billions of humans.

Death and destruction wrought the civilization that was once on the path of ascension. Centuries of evolution seemed to be unweaving. That was until he was born; the Genesis Beyond Origin: Incarnation of Divinity itself, Emperor Lloriel.

It is said the Emperor was birthed of nothing; that he was simply the manifestation of the innocent cries of humans suffering because of the Starless War.

Why?

Because it was Lloriel who ended the great conflict moments after his first appearance. He was the lone light that guided humanity back to it's original path, uniting the Eight Thousand Worlds under his name.

A being of magic, they called him. A Shard of the universe, for he alone flew faster than spacecrafts; shot beams of energy out of his hands, and conjured storms with a mere thought.

He was, without a single doubt, a benevolent God.

Now, with everything under and above the heavens beneath his fingertips, Lloriel is left bored. Nothing challenges his authority, nor does he really do much to govern his empire. For the most part, he sat on his thrown either saying, "yes," or "no," to matters that required the Imperial Seal.

Before he could completely lose himself to boredom, however, he finds an ancient piece of tech— a smartphone— on one of the dying planets within his domain. Fixing the device, he recovers tales— fabricated fables— of gods and magics.

Obsessed with these stories, and the connection they shared with “mana” he soon realizes another one of the secrets of the universe.

One he is sure to twist and bend for his own entertainment.
