A man with white hair raises his axe. His sweat dripped on his body and make his body shiny in the sun. His blue eyes lock on the target in front of him. Then, he swung his axe down, to split the firewood in front of him.

“Cameron, are you done with the woods?" An old lady called him from the porch of the farmhouse .

Cameron looked at the old lady in her dull dress. Martha Dagger, his grandmother gave him a smile.

 “Almost done, Granny,” he answered.

“Hm, let's take a break, time for lunch, Honey!” Martha sighed.

Cameron puts his axe into the tree trump when he use to split the firewood until the axe stuck there. He walks to the farmhouse ’s porch and takes the towel from the cart.

“Don’t push yourself!” Martha talked while frowning at her wrinkled forehead.

“Winter is coming and I have not prepared our supplies for it.” Cameron sighed, he look so frustrated. With the towel in his hand, he wiped his sweat-drenched body.

“Don’t worry, there are still a few months left for it!” Martha answered while walking toward a small table with two wooden chairs there.

On the table were the drinks and food they would be enjoying that afternoon. Cameron sat down with a sigh.

Cameron's hand moved toward a sandwich that was on the table. He ate it after sipping his warm drink. His blue eyes stared at the meadow that stretched out before him.

The atmosphere in which he lived was very peaceful. The atmosphere is perfect for solitude. The sound of roosters crowing, the sound of cows moaning, the neighing and hooves of Cameron's favourite horse as he chased away the flies that swarmed his body, and the sound of sheep, always filled Cameron and Martha's days as long as they lived in the meadows away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

“It’s time for you to come back to the pack, Cam.” Martha said, breaking the silence between them.

Cameron glanced at Martha. He sighed, then leaned his back against the back of the chair.

“For what? I feel comfortable here, besides you also need friends, right?” Cameroon looked at Martha with a mischievous smile of a grandson to his grandmother.

Martha looked at him bored. “An old wolf like me doesn't need your company, Cam. There will come a the time when nature calls me and I will unite with the ancestors.” Martha sighed. Her glazed eyes and body that was starting to wither leaned quietly in her chair.

"Yeah, you always say that." Cameron replied with a bored face.

“Cameron Dagger, how many times have I told you? Even though we are long-lived creatures, life still exists side by side with the name of death.” Martha started lecturing.

Cameron sighed, her face looking bored as she pushed her bottom lip forward.

"Not again!" Cameron moaned while rolling his eyes.

Martha looked at her grandson with an annoyed face. Even though Cameron's voice sounded soft, Martha's ears still seemed sharp to hear the slightest sound.

“I'm advising a lone wolf who is reluctant to embrace his glory. If you don't want to go back to the pack, at least make a pack of your own!" Martha complained while hitting Cameron on the head with her cane.

Cameron's breath hitched as he felt the pain of Martha's cane on his head.

"What is that for?" He complained while holding his throbbing head. Cameron rubbed his head and prayed he didn't get a lump.

"I'm asking you to go back or create your own pack, claim your glory as a formidable male wolf, Young Man!" Martha snorted while looking at Cameron.

The man grinned. "Calm down, Granny! I've found my glory here."

"Without a pack and mate?" Martha frowned. Cameron even stayed silent when Martha mentioned the word 'mate'.

"I don't need either, a half-blood like me can't possibly have a pack or even a mate, Gran! Why hope for something uncertain?" replied Cameron as he sighed and picked up the roast meat on the plate.

"You look like a defeated old alpha, Cam. Pathetic!" Martha snorted in annoyance as she dropped her back against the back of the chair.

Cameron laughed softly when he heard her sarcastic remark. Martha glanced at Cameron who was still happily munching on his lunch.

Martha's eyes then turned towards the meadow where the cows were sitting relaxing while chewing on the grass, and some sheep were taking shelter under a large tree in the corner of the meadow fence.

"You should have been beside Rollo to keep our pack safe!" said Martha softly.

Cameron was silent. "What to expect from a werewolf who has caused trouble in his pack, Granny?"

Martha looked at Cameron. The man's face with a strong jaw looked sad and tired. The man felt the world had turned its back on him. Losing his mother shortly after he was born, and the vampire blood flowing in his veins, made Cameron need a long time to control his werewolf instincts. His past made him afraid to be in a crowd until he decided to isolate himself with adventure and ended up on a ranch with Martha on the territorial border of the Lunar Pack's. Far from civilization.

The sound of a horse's hooves broke the silence between the two of them. Cameron saw a short young man sitting on a horse and stopped right beside the cart. Martha immediately got up and walked toward the young man.

Cameron watched them from afar. His eyes caught a letter that was folded so neatly that the young man handed it to his grandmother.

Martha received the letter and read it immediately. There was a wax stamp with a howling wolf pattern on it, the signature stamp of the Lunar Pack. A smile broke out on her wrinkled face as she read the letter. Then, she put her arm around the young man's shoulders and invited him into the house.

“Cam, Luke Parker." Martha walked with the young man named Luke Parker towards Cameron who was leaning against the porch pillar while crossing his arms.

"Luke Parker, I'm glad to finally meet you, Cameron Dagger!" The young man gave his hand to Cameron.

Cameron watched the young man's hand, he didn't like new people coming to Greenhill. Moreover, the guest is a watcher from the Lunar pack. Usually, when a watcher comes to his grandmother in Greenhill, there must be something urgent.

"Are you a watcher?" asked Cameron who then accepted Luke's hand after a few seconds he let Luke's hand stretch out to him.

"Yeah, but the messenger's lower-class watcher!" Luke replied with a friendly smile.

"It looks like Rollo and Shia are so busy with pack business that they leave important messages to lower-class watchers!" Cameron said skeptically.

Luke paused and then he smiled. "The message I'm about to deliver isn't that important, just a reply to a letter from Mrs. Shia to Mrs. Martha.”

Cameron fell silent then he took a deep breath. “You're one of the human children that Shia picked up?”

Luke smiled broadly. “That's right,” he replied.

"Get some rest Luke! You travelled quite a long way from the Dagger residence, didn't you?" asked Martha as she patted Luke's shoulder.

Luke replied with a friendly smile. Meanwhile, Cameron went back to his pending work.

The night was approaching, and Cameron suddenly woke up from his sleep when he felt the existence of the creature he hated the most, vampires.

Recently some vampires and unpacked werewolves have been harassing their livestock, 3 sheep have died from loss of blood. Cameron found 2 missing sheep, in a small river near Greenhill, not safe, and left only the bones with rotting flesh.

Cameron immediately got up and lit the candle on the nightstand. He stepped out without putting on his clothes. Opening the door, he saw Martha also coming out of her room, Cameron glanced at the door beside Martha's room.

“Granny stays here, I'll look outside! That young man's life is as important as the lives of a werewolf child!" Cameron said without further ado leaving Martha.

 Martha nodded slowly.

Cameron walked towards the exit. When he opened the door, a man with a pale face and mouth full of blood surprised Cameron.

The pale man attacked Cameron without courtesy. His fingernails are elongated. Cameron immediately dodged. Then, he quickly grabbed the vampire by the neck and threw him to the floor. Cameron's hand swiftly took the sword that was near the door and stabbed the vampire right in the heart.

The Vampire screamed in pain when suddenly flames burned all over his body. Cameron then glanced to his side, a Vampire grabbed and bit Cameron's neck. However, that was an extremely reckless act. The vampire was writhing in heat.

"You stupid!" Cameron said while slashing the vampire.

Suddenly the sound of breaking glass was heard from the direction of Luke's room. Martha's howling broke the silence of the night. A vampire by being thrown from Luke's room.

A wolf straightened out of Luke's room and stood before the vampire. Cameron laughed softly at the gray werewolf form.

"I didn't think that even though you have aged, your body is still strong enough to slam that one despicable creature!" Cameron laughed.

“Shut your mouth, Young Man!” Martha snapped still in her werewolf form. "They're not vampires who eat your sheep!" Martha called Luke to come out of the room.

"Are you sure?" Cameron asked as he approached the fainting vampire.

"They are too reckless to attack us," said Martha, clutching the head of the vampire in front of her. "I smell at least a few more vampires around the house!"

The vampire's screams rang out as Luke stabbed the vampire's heart with a small sword. Then, it was burned to the bone.

“It seems that there is something he is after here!” Martha looked at Cameron who was looking at her with an expressionless gaze.

“It can't be that Young Man, can it?” Cameron frowned as he looked at Luke.

"If they're after me, it's too reckless to attack when I'm in werewolf territory, Cam!" answered Luke casually.

Cameron slapped his forehead, aware of what the vampires were after.

"That's why, I ask you to return to the pack," complained Martha.

Cameron smacked his lips then he turned round and a vampire attacked him by clawing Cameron's chest. The wound instantly regenerates and closes. Cameron with his sword slashed at the vampire, but the speed of the vampire made Cameron only slash the wind.

The vampire was crawling on the ceiling. He hissed angrily at Cameron who was looking at him with an angry face.

“You bastards, can’t you let me live in peace?” howled Cameron as his body transformed into a white wolf standing tall. His hand extended towards the Vampire who was about to pounce on him.

“Looks like the vampires outside won’t survive, Madam!” said Luke weakly as he saw Cameron’s ruthlessness in finishing off the vampire that attacked him.

Martha laughed softly as she heard Luke’s very apt statement.

Cameron’s breath hitched after tearing the vampire’s body to shreds, then he swiftly exited the house and there was the sound of the vampires’ screeching and growling in the yard.
