A woman straightened up from her bed. Her long, flowing hair touched the mattress where she slept. Her grey eyes looked at the tent fabric that protected her from the cold night, while her ears caught the sound of a wolf howling.

"There seems to be a wolf near us, Miss!" said a woman behind her.

"Could it be a werewolf?" The long-haired woman did not look at the plump woman behind her. Her voice sounded so calm and gentle, that the woman still lying behind her smiled faintly.

"Well, it's possible. We're on the territorial border of the Lunar Pack." The lanky woman woke up. "We're safe if we don't enter their territory, you don't need to be afraid!"

"No, I'm not afraid of the howls!" The grey-eyed woman folded her arms in front of her chest. "Somehow... the sound calms me down." She closed her eyes and soaked in the sound of the long wolf howl.

The plump woman fell silent. She looked at her master's face, which was very calm and solemn while savoring the wolf’s howl.

"Bastard!" cursed Cameron still in his werewolf form.

His white hair was dirty after his fight with some vampires in his yard. Beneath his feet was a vampire who was rendered helpless by being stepped on by Cameron's giant werewolf form.

"Damn, I've had a bad day." Cameron saw sunlight beginning to rise from the east. He grabbed the vampire by the neck. "They say morning sunshine is good for your health. You want to try?" Cameron grinned.

The vampire's eyes rounded as he felt a very pressing aura emanating from Cameron. Even more so when suddenly white bat wings emerged from his back.

"You?! They tricked us," the Vampire screamed as he groaned and tried to release Cameron's hand grip.

"Gee, which one of those bugs tricked you, mate?" laughed Cameron as he flapped his wings and flew into the sky. His white-feathered hands still gripped the Vampire's neck.

The sound of screams of pain as the sunlight hit the vampire's body echoed around Greenhill. The vampire's body was burnt to ashes by the morning breeze.

"Well, I haven't got an answer from him yet," Cameron complained as he scratched his head which was suddenly itchy, due to his stupidity in letting the vampire burn down without a trace.

However, suddenly his nose picked up a very fragrant smell. He straightened his head and looked towards the horizon.

"What is this smell?" he said softly.

"Hey, Cameron. Get down!" shouted the one who had returned to his form while Luke was beside Martha in his cloak.

It was quite cold in Greenhill. The autumn wind was coming, the cold was bone-chilling for humans. Not for the warm-blooded werewolf nation. It seemed that being shirtless like that, Cameron didn't feel anything up there.

Luke was sure the wind was stronger up there than on the ground. Even so, if you lingered in the wind for too long, even a werewolf's body wouldn't be able to withstand the cold. However, something seemed to have caught Cameron's attention to the south of Greenhill. His blue eyes were still fixed in that direction.

"Cameron Dagger, do you hear me? Get down!" snapped Martha while girding her loins. Her wrinkled face was etched with extreme annoyance.

Cameron was stunned then he looked at Martha and Luke. He got down too, but then he glanced back to where he had been looking.

"Clean up the mess inside! I'll make breakfast." Martha snorted as she turned around and left Cameron who had already hidden his wings and returned to his human form.

"Hey, spring is over, right?" Cameron asked Luke as he walked into the house.

"Of course, we're already at the end of summer Cam. Even the autumn winds are already blowing." Luke answered Cameron's silly question with a frown.

Cameron cleared his throat as he chuckled. "Then what is this scent I smell?"

Luke furrowed his brow. "What does it smell like?"

"Like wine, both sweet and intoxicating. Mixed with the smell of flowers in spring, and also the smell makes me... hm... you know, horny," Cameron replied while rubbing his forehead between his eyes with his forefinger.

"Huh?" Luke was flabbergasted when he heard Cameron's answer. "Mistress ...." Luke screamed as he ran towards the kitchen.

Cameron was surprised at Luke's behavior. Suddenly Martha's screaming voice was heard. Martha rushed out of the kitchen and walked quickly toward Cameron.

"Is it true, you smell something like wine and flowers, Cam?" asked Martha while squeezing Cameron's upper arm.

Martha's wrinkled face stiffened, her eyes bulged, while her lips pulled upwards. Martha looked happy and very enthusiastic about the answer she would hear from her grandson.

"Hm, yeah!" replied Cameron with hesitation and a surprised look on his grandmother's happy expression.

"Well, congratulations, congratulations," laughed Martha as she hugged her grandson's firm body tightly. "Well, I have to cook something delicious today." Martha rushed into the kitchen with a happy murmur.

Cameron looked at Luke with a puzzled expression. Luke raised his hands and shoulders, answering the man's puzzled expression.

Cameron sat in front of Luke who was enjoying the sumptuous meal served on the dining table. He drummed the fingers of his right hand on the table while his left hand rested on his chin. His blue eyes glanced at Martha who had been flashing a happy smile.

"Can anyone tell me, what that scent was that my nose could smell this morning?" Cameron asked without changing his sitting position.

Martha and Luke looked at him. Luke then looked at Martha.

"He doesn't know what that scent was, Madam?" asked Luke, the young man looked confused by Cameron's question.

Martha laughed softly. "This lone wolf has no idea what a 'mate' is." Martha sighed as she pushed her lower lip forward. Her wrinkled face looked disappointed.

"Huh? Mate?" Cameron straightened up and looked at Martha with bulging eyes. Cameron couldn't believe what his grandmother was saying.

"Every time I explain about mate, you always avoid it, and you prefer to take care of your farm animals!" Martha slapped Cameron on the arm. Martha's hoarse voice sounded very angry and upset.

"I'm a half-breed, there's no way I have a 'mate'. Impossible!" Cameron replied as he picked up a piece of chicken and ate it with gusto.

Luke was silent then he looked at Martha. The old woman sighed again.

"The fact that you have smelled the aroma, what are you waiting for?" Martha asked while holding Cameron's hand which was on the table.

Cameron sighed. He massaged his forehead with his right hand. "Gosh, what about you, Granny? If I go to see her, I'll have to leave you here alone!"

"Don't stay here Cam, don't worry about this old wolf!" Martha said while eating her delayed breakfast.

Cameron was silent. He suddenly remembered the words of the last vampire burned by the sunlight this morning. They were attacking someone's orders.

"The vampire who attacked us last night ...." Cameron squeezed his hand. "...seems to be after me!"

The atmosphere in the dining room was instantly quiet.

"At this rate, I should find my own way!" Cameron's breathing sound was so heavy, he held his forehead with both hands.

Martha smiled happily at Cameron's decision. She patted Cameron's shoulder with a smile and invited them to continue their delayed breakfast. Luke was also happy to hear it.

Luke's arrival also had something to do with Martha's request to Shia, the Luna Pack of the Lunar Pack to send someone to Greenhill to accompany Cameron if the ancestors called him back to nature one day. Given how stubborn the werewolf is. However, she did not have to worry about her grandson anymore.

During the week after the vampire attack, Cameron and Luke helped Martha prepare supplies for the winter. The fragrant scent carried by the wind that blew into Greenhill made Cameron realize that his mate was approaching.

Cameron and Luke left Greenhill on horseback for the residence of Rollo Dagger, the Alpha. For some reason, the scent of his mate wafted around the Lunar Pack territory. It kept moving and suddenly stopped somewhere.

It took at least 3 days and 2 nights to reach their destination. Cameron wasn't very talkative, and neither was Luke who preferred to read books or write journals when they rested.

"The vampire blood in you offsets your werewolf instincts, Cam." Luke piped up as they rode in the middle of the forest ae the silence.

Cameron turned his head and looked at Luke. "But it can be threatening to other wolf packs and of course humans," Cameron argued with a snort.

Luke countered Cameron's rebuttal with a smile. "Well, you know. It's a miracle you've lived until now Cameron!"

"At the cost of my mum's life, of course." Cameron's laughter broke out, but Luke sensed the bitterness behind his laughter. "Unfortunately, I will also be sacrificing one more woman to survive." Cameron grinned sadly.

Luke returned Cameron's grin with a bitter smile. He no longer replied to Cameron's words. Silence fell again until Cameron suddenly stopped.

Luke, who happened to be in front, stopped and pulled the reins of his horse to turn around. He saw Cameron sniffing the air. Not long after, the man got off his horse.

"Take Spinel to the Dagger residence!" Cameron commanded Luke as he handed the young man the reins of his horse.

"What's wrong?" asked Luke confused by Cameron's behavior.

"I smell it!" replied Cameron softly. Then, wordlessly he left Luke with his horse. His feet quickly traveled through into the woods and disappeared as he leaped onto a large tree branch.

Cameron jumped from branch to branch. Trying to find the whereabouts of the odor he had smelt a few days ago. Until his steps stopped on a branch. His blue eyes caught a figure squatting among the bushes with a bow and arrow ready to be released toward a grazing deer.

Cameron's breath caught at that moment. The air around him felt thin, and the fragrance of flowers mixed with wine was making him drunk and even crazier when suddenly the wind picked up again making the fragrance pass through his scent. His face suddenly felt hot and something in the recesses of his heart rebelled against approaching the figure.

"My mate?" he thought with a furrowed brow.
