How could the Moon Goddess unite a half-blood creature like her with a human? She was already 350 years old, and that was the most mature age for a werewolf to find a mate. Even some werewolves thought he was too old to find even the most impossible of mates.

Cameron thought everything would be easy. However, his assumption was wrong. The woman rejects his existence. Not only is the fragrance emanating from the woman's body proof, but the sting he feels when he comes into contact with Serena is also proof that they are meant to be together.

Cameron stopped walking. He raised his head to look at the semicircular moon. It was still the middle of November, and the weather was clear despite the bone-chilling cold.

"Why do your eyes looked like full of hatred and fear, Serena?"

His brow furrowed with tightness. Serena's gaze pierced the very recesses of his heart. Cameron thought he would grow old without a mate, he did not expect the sense of belonging and protecting the most precious thing in a werewolf's heart to be present in his life. To hell with a mate. He wanted to live for himself. However, the Moon Goddess brings that feeling, today and it is compounded by her rejection from her Mate.

"Damn it!" Cameron cursed as he hit a tree beside him, causing dry leaves to fall and a body to fall to the ground.

"Ouch!" The person complained as he got up and held his waist.

Cameron saw a man who was grimacing in pain. Luke looks at Cameron with a laugh full of pain.

"Why are you here, Luke?" asked Cameron as he leaned in and looked at Luke quizzically. "Didn't I ask you to go to Dagger manor first?"

Luke grinned widely, still with his hand holding his waist.

“I arrived and informed Rollo of your arrival. However, he immediately ordered me to pick you up and bring you to the mansion right away!" Luke complained while gyrating his waist. Luke was visibly annoyed, the fatigue of the journey hadn't worn off and he'd already had a mission to pick Cameron up in the woods, not even to get a horse.

"What's wrong?" asked Cameron with a confused face. It was unusual for Rollo to ask him to, go straight to the Dagger mansion if he was visiting the Lunar Pack. Usually, Cameron would go to his mother's cottage and then finally to Dagger's mansion.

“There is a guest from the empire, Rollo insists you attend tomorrow’s meeting.”

“A guest from the empire?” Cameron frowned. “What is the problem with them coming here?” Cameron walked slowly.

"The information I got, the empire is currently looking for someone, the Princess of the Achernar kingdom," replied Luke who followed Cameron's big steps with a brisk walk.

"Princess of the Achernar kingdom? I thought they had wiped out all the descendants of the Achernar royal family!"

"Looks like they missed another member, they thought the Princess was around Lunar Pack territory, so they asked Rollo for permission to search our territory," Luke explained with a gasp.

Cameron cleared his throat. "By the way do you have any information about a castle not far from our territory border?" Cameron stopped and looked at Luke who stopped a few steps behind him.

Luke bent down and placed his hands on his knees breathlessly. Cameron rolled his eyes. He forgot Luke was small in stature with short legs, balancing his steps with the small man's steps like balancing the steps of an adult with a child.

"Wait ...!" Luke swallowed his saliva. "You said a castle near the border?" Luke walked over to Cameron once his breathing was regularized.

"Yes, a castle. It looks unkempt but it's occupant!" Cameron answered while crossing his arms and looking at Luke.

"Are you sure the castle has an occupant?" "Are you sure the castle has an occupant?" Luke tilted his head.

Cameron wrinkled his forehead. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure., Cameron replied hesitantly.

Luke scratched his itchy head. "I'm not sure if that castle has an occupant."

 Cameron choked up. "Why?”

“Hmm, as far as I know. During the attack on Emperor Anthony, they came here to look for the whereabouts of the Crescent family servant, the royal family name of Achernar.” Luke tries to remember the story of one of his friends at the orphanage. “They massacred the people in the castle mercilessly so that the castle was covered in pools of blood. We are forbidden to approach the castle. In fact, at one time someone saw that the ghost of the servants of the Achernar kingdom was still wandering around the castle."

"So, you mean. There's no way anyone would dare to enter that castle?" Cameron furrowed his forehead.

Luke nodded his head.

"Are you sure, no one is using that castle as a place to live?"

"I'm sure, Cam. For the Moon Goddess who was glorified by the werewolves. Even humans are afraid to go near that castle." Luke pinched his forehead. “After all, why would they use that nearly collapsing castle to live in? Some parts are weathered and have an age theme. It would cost a lot of money to fix it, who would be stupid to spend money just to repair a haunted castle like that?”

Cameron paused to hear Luke's explanation. He was sure that the sparkling candles in the castle room were a sign that someone was using the castle as a place to live. Is it possible that it was just his hallucination?

Cameron shook his head. He tried to think clearly. The woman's warmth, passion, and slender body were so real. Suddenly he remembered something.

Cameron’s eyes widened then he looked at Luke. “Princess of Achernar, is she a witch?”

“Hmm.” Luke tried to remember the information about the princess from the Achernar kingdom. “You could say that, but the Princess is not a witch, she is just blessed by the power of the Moon Goddess, Artemis. That’s why she is wanted by the empire. Her power can camouflage and create darkness and control it.”

Cameron was stunned, then he ran toward the castle where Serena was. Luke of course surprised, then he followed the direction of Cameron’s departure.

“I'm sure Luke!” Cameron said to Luke who was panting beside him. “There are lights in some places in the castle!” Cameron widened his eyes in disbelief when he saw the abandoned castle in front of him, “I thought this castle was already an inn?!”

The atmosphere was gripping. The gusting wind added to the horror of the pitch-black castle. Dry leaves filled the courtyard, grass spread around the castle corner by corner. Some parts of the castle looked damaged.

 “What is your plan now,

Moon Goddess?” thought Cameron, frowning. “Luke!” he called. “Go home, and tell Rollo I’ll be home when I finish my business!”

"Hm, alright! You better be at the Dagger residence before dawn, !" Luke patted Cameron's shoulder then he walked away leaving Cameron still rooted to the spot.

Cameron was still standing where he was after Luke had left him a few minutes ago. He looked sadly at the castle with its silence and horror. His nose could still smell the distinctive scent of his mate. Cameron could only hope that the woman would appear again, so he could ask her what had happened.

The feeling of wanting to unite with that woman was so overwhelming. He unknowingly entered a dimension that separated the real world from the world created by the power of the Moon Goddess.

Could that feeling break down the magic barrier? Cameron looked up at the moon. This was the first time he felt it, the feeling that made his whole body and soul fall into the fragrance that excited and heated him so much.

“Serena, I don’t know who you are. I hope you are always under the protection of the Moon Goddess.” Cameron frowned. “Good night!”

Cameron turned around then he ran into the woods. Leaving behind the silence of the night that enveloped every corner of the forest and the castle that everyone believed to be a haunted castle.

Inside her room, Serena looked wistfully at Cameron's robe that was on the hanger.

 “Cameron Dagger,” she whispered.

The flow of blood felt unusually sizzling when Cameron Dagger took her first kiss very seductively and made her addicted. Her mind blurred as the kiss began to feel demanding. Then, Serena's hands fell away, her tears falling to her bare feet.

However, the moaning voices of the people he loved echoed in his head. Regret, fear, hate, and even revenge united in his heart.

The sting she felt when Cameron touched her made Serena realize one thing. The Moon Goddess had already shown her the life partner she was destined to be with. But why did it have to be a werewolf?

Serena raised her head. Her brow furrowed, and her lips trembled with grief.

"I want you to perish!" she said softly. "But? Why is the Moon Goddess torturing me like this? This love should not be present and directed toward you, Cameron Dagger!" She sobbed as she looked down in defeat.

“Miss Serena?”

Serena gasped when she heard a man's voice behind her bedroom door. She quickly washed her face with both hands, then took Cameron's robe and hid toward the blanket. Serena walked straight,o the door and opened it. She saw Mateo and John standing with worried faces.

But Mateo and John’s faces changed when they saw the tear marks on Serena's cheeks. Her eyes also looked puffy with tears still in them. Moreover, they saw the red marks on Serena's neck.

"What's wrong?" Serena's hoarse voice broke the two men's reverie.

“Bad news!” answered Mateo.

"A servant who was shopping in the city saw the scouting legion going through the entire city, and now they are at the alpha residence of the Lunar pack," John added.

Serena wrinkled her forehead. "Then we'll have to postpone the hunt for tomorrow," Serena said with a sigh. "Are the food supplies fulfilled for next winter, Sir Mateo?" Serena looked at Mateo.

"Just for a month or two, Miss!" Mateo answered. “Are you sure this winter will make us immobile like last winter?”

"It is likely that this winter will be quite long. At least once every five years, the winters around Minas Forest will experience blizzards that are quite dangerous if we don't provide food for supplies."

“So, what about the royal scout troops? At this rate, we can’t move around to gather supplies!” Mateo looked panicked.

"They won't last long in this extreme region, maybe for the next week we can stock up by shopping in town!" John suggested.

“Keep sending one servant to buy supplies to the city, accompanied by one knight! I feel that just one man and one woman going in and out of the city will not raise suspicions. And you two, stay in the castle and watch around the castle!”

John and Mateo nodded their heads.

“Okay, it’s getting late. You guys better get some rest!” Serena smiled at her knights. “Good evening, Gentlemen!”

“Um, Miss!” Mateo broke up.

Serena looked at Mateo. John nudged Mateo’s arm.

“Ah. Good evening, Miss!” Mateo said with an awkward smile.

Serena smiled and closed the door. She could hear Mateo and John whispering. She sighed, then hurried to change into a lacy nightgown that was warm and cozy enough.

The fire in the fireplace made a small crackle. Serena glanced at the fireplace then picked up a piece of wood and threw it into the grate. The warm air quickly warmed the room, then Serena turned round and walked over to her bed. She pulled back the covers and saw Cameron's robe. Serena froze when she saw the robe, then she climbed onto the bed.

"Good night, Cam!" said Serena as she curled up on the bed and hugged Cameron's robe.

Serena could smell Cameron's masculine scent from the robe. Her tears fell again, sobs filling the warm room.
