Rollo Dagger glared at Cameron who stood before him. Cameron did not seem like himself today. The man seemed unsettled. Daydreaming during the imperial scouts' banquet, almost making a mess with his arguments that made their guests feel humiliated.

"I heard from Luke, you have a problem with the existence of the former Achernar royal castle, is that true?" Rollo while crossing his arms under his chest.

"Yeah!" Cameron sighed as he dropped his bum on the cushioned chair right in front of Rollo.

"What's your problem now?"

"Hm," Cameron replied as he poured alcohol into a glass and took a drink. "I saw some life in that castle."

Rollo took a breather. “No way, the castle hasn’t been maintained since King Helios’ servants were massacred ten years ago, and even the townspeople are afraid to approach because I’ve heard the castle is haunted.”

"Luke already explained it to me!" Cameron massaged his brow.

"Then why are you so upset just because of that?" Rollo locked his gaze on Cameron.

"It's as if I got carried away with the castle's existence!" exclaimed Cameron, leaning against the back of the chair, folding his legs, and crossing his arms. "The castle is in disrepair. But it was alive with servants and knights feasting in the banquet hall. Life there is very peaceful." Cameron said as he opened his eyes and looked out the window.

"You? Did you see any life there?" Rollo asked in disbelief.

“Yes, as I previously stated. With lights in each room, the castle appeared to be alive. I'm unsure, Rollo. My perception of the castle as being so alive was likely produced by someone who can remain undetected.”

Rollo scowled. He was certain that his brother's issue appeared to be quite challenging. "Princess Selene? Only Princess Selene is capable of doing it. If Princess Selene is nearby our territory, could the scouting troops's suspicions be true?"

Cameron shrugged. "I have no idea."

"So, what are you grumpy about? There's no way if it's just an apparition. Such a trivial matter cannot possibly pique your interest." Rollo laughed and girded his loins.

"It was the Moon Goddess who brought me together with my mate!" Cameron stated flatly.

"Huh?" Rollo freeze and stare with wide.

Cameron frowned at the hideous expression. He was surprised to see such a stupid expression on his brother's face, who was known for his authority and high self-esteem.

"At your current age?" Rollo bit back a laugh.

"Do you think I expected it?" Cameron stared at his brother expressionlessly, causing Rollo to laugh awkwardly. Cameron sighed. "I never asked to be reunited with my mate. Given my vampire heritage, I'm likely to suppress my werewolf sense of smell to detect that enticing fragrance."

"Well, scholars and even Shia don't deny that, because you're past your prime," Rollo chuckled.

Cameron sighed, rolling his eyes. It was difficult to take the Alpha seriously at times. Cameron sighed, putting a stop to Rollo's laughter.

"Her eyes were full moon grey, her black hair was in a bun, gleaming in the afternoon sunlight, and her movements were quick. Her agility and compassion for the animals she hunted captivated me. I'd never seen a human being be so considerate of his prey by making it feel at ease. In reality, the woman slaughtered her quarry with a razor-sharp knife, making it appear less tortured." Cameron smiled as he closed his eyes and imagined Serena's gentle touch on her deer

"Grey eyes like the full moon?" frowned Rollo. "I know grey eyes are uncommon, but to my knowledge, a person with grey eyes like you described is civilized enough for you!" Rollo took a deep breath and exhaled.

Cameron looked at Rollo, with a quick flash then his brother looked at him with widened eyes.

“Your mate? How could that be?”

“That’s why, why her?” Cameron sighed and ruffled his hair.

“Human, fugitive, endowed with the power of the Moon Goddess. You’re not okay right now, brother!” Rollo patted Cameron on the back repeatedly and ignored his brother’s annoyed face.

“Ah, at this rate I’ll spend the rest of my biological desires being a prisoner in my mother's cottage!” Cameron propped up his chin while looking at the plush carpet under his feet.

"Are you sure?" Rollo gave Cameron a horrified look.

Cameron looked at Rollo and laughed awkwardly. He remembered how Rollo had denied the existence of Shia Shadow, the Lunar pack's strongest and smartest female werewolf. Rollo had no idea that the ugly girl with black freckles on her face, curly red hair, and a tomboy would become Rollo's mate. Rollo used to tease Shia because her red hair resembled a bird's nest.

Until, as an adult, the Moon Goddess brought back that thrill when he saw Shia return from her adventures. As a teenager, Shia decided to leave the pack, and study medicine, and some human social sciences. She is the pack's smartest female werewolf today, and no one can match the Alpha Lunar Luna's intelligence and dignity.

Rollo had rejected Shia's existence to move past the period of biological desire for the first time. Of course, he was embarrassed to accept Shia as his mate out of pride, but the Moon Goddess loved to play with her devotees feelings, just as she did with Rollo back then.

A bully is shackled in an eternal relationship with the victim of his bullying, a female werewolf he never expected to be his mate in the future.

Cameron witnessed Rollo's agony as a werewolf firsthand for three days. With his half-human, half-wolf form, he was like a rabid wolf.

If a male werewolf denies his mate's existence when his libido comes to provide biological pleasure, being locked up in a basement room is a good choice.

Rollo screamed and clawed at the room's walls at that moment. Growling, whimpering, and even slamming his throbbing head.

"Akh, I don't want to go through the agony of rejection again; it's hot and torturous. My head feels like it's going to blow up. Back then, I thought life was better without a head, and it felt like I was roasting in the fires of hell as the heat coursing through my body!" Rollo moaned, clutching his head in both hands and staring terrified at Cameron.

Cameron rolled his eyes and snorted. He wanted to make fun of his brother's antics. However, remembering how tormented the Alpha was at the time, his heart couldn't bear laughing at the werewolf who was mumbling because he remembered how painful it was to suppress his libido due to his rejection.

“I told you, never make a deal with a human, you foolish Alpha!" A woman's booming voice filled Rollo's office.

Rollo raised his head. He saw a pregnant woman looking at him with yellow eyes filled with anger.

"I don't meddle in their business! Simply allowing them to look for imperial fugitives!” Rollo softly replied as he approached the woman with curly red hair in a bun.

Shia Shadow yelled angrily. "You know how much I despise the empire. I witnessed with my own eyes how they slaughtered innocent people to increase their power. Drive them out of my territory! Otherwise, I will step in." Shia threatened as she raised her index finger in front of Rollo.

Rollo laughed awkwardly, then looked at Cameron, who didn't seem to want to help him.

"They'll be gone from your beloved territory in two days, My Love!" Rollo said as he wrapped his arm around Shia's waist.

The woman's piercing gaze remained fixed on him. Her husband's teasing didn't seem to bother her. Her anger was taking over her heart.

"I'm pregnant, you know how my mood is if the situation around me doesn't suit my heart, and when that happens you can never survive, remember that!"

"Yes, I know." Rollo grinned.

Shia was pregnant with their fifth child. Rollo had grown accustomed to Shia's mood swings during her pregnancy. So he didn’t want anything bad to happen to Shia and their child this time. Shia had not greeted Rollo in over a week because Rollo preferred to keep himself busy with his work rather than paying attention to Shia.

"I heard you look down on the empire's humans, Cameron!" Shia stepped out of her husband's embrace and approached Cameron, who was drinking his wine in one gulp.

"I'm just saying, how stupid of them to look for a woman. It's been a decade since the war with Achernar, and they haven't caught the Princess." Cameron sarcastically laughed.

Shia laughed beside Cameron. "But the rogues are also searching. it's strange, the existence of the Princess disappeared as if swallowed by the earth. Don't they think that the Princess is dead?"

"She can camouflage. Is it possible that she can also change hers scent? Even the imperial dogs can't found her!" said Rollo as he sat in front of Cameron and Shia.

The imperial dog is a werewolf who obeys all imperial commands. Werewolves are outcasts who seek refuge beneath the emperor's feet. Many rogues chose to become imperial dogs because not only was their life guaranteed, but they were also paid as werewolf soldiers who sided with humans, and they are also used as guard dogs against vampire attacks.

Cameron sighed. "Tighten the guard, Rollo!" Cameron said suddenly.

Rollo and Shia looked at Cameron who was massaging the bridge of his nose.

Then, Cameron looked at Rollo and Shia.

"I'm being targeted by vampires!" Cameron grinned with a bitter face.

Cameron's explanation elicited silence between Rollo and Shia.

"They'd never do it, brother!" Rollo answered solemnly.

"It appears that they have more to fear than the treaty!" Cameron chuckled softly.

"Does this have anything to do with your mate?" Rollo frowned.

"Huh?" Shia looked at Rollo with a surprised face. "Mate? You found your mate?" Then, he looked towards Cameron.

Cameron laughed bitterly. “Apparently.” Cameron answered Shia’s question. “Because of that, I had to keep her away from Lunar Pack territory, but ….” Cameron ruffled his hair in disappointment as the image of Serena’s face loomed over his mind. The woman’s face looked extremely scared, sad, and disappointed.

“Damn it.” Cameron needed to unwind. So he decided to leave Rollo’s room. “I need to calm down first.” Then he left Rollo and Shia in the room.

Who is his mate?” Shia whispered to Rollo who was standing beside her.

Rollo looked at Shia who looked at him with a confused look. Then he whispered the information he got into Shia’s ear. Shia’s eyes immediately widened and looked at Rollo with an incredulous look.

“Are you sure?”

“He told me himself, how can I not believe it?” Rollo replied with a chuckle.

“Well, Cam, why does fate always play tricks on you?” said Shia as she sighed.

“Cameron can solve his own problems, now it’s my turn to protect our territory.” Rollo called out to the Beta. “Magnus,” he called.

A man with glasses and formal attire entered Rollo’s room.

“Did you hear what my brother said?” said Rollo as he girded his loins. “Tighten the guard!”
