Chapter 17: Newfound Internal Energy

Crack!

 

Suddenly feeling a large piece of cracked skin pop off his back as he continued to push out the weaker qi from his body, Myeol Mang grunted for a second before realizing that there was no pain.

 

Ignoring the cracked skin continually popping off his body as he continued to push out the weaker qi being brought in from his body, Myeol Mang realized that the path the qi was being brought in from was the exact same as the pathing from the book.

 

After making sure he had cleared all of the impure qi out of his dantian, Myeol Mang began feeling how the unknown presence was pulling the qi into his body.

 

However, what he found was that the mysterious presence was only bringing in internal energy through his short and quick breaths.

 

‘If I increase my breathing, it will increase the amount of qi being brought into my body. But more impure qi would be brought in if I don’t focus while doing so.’

 

Focusing on finding the impure qi being brought into his body as he slowed down and lengthened each of his breaths, only to find that instead of more impure qi being pulled into his body, the qi only became stronger and more pure. 

 

Crackle!

 

Suddenly feeling more of his skin cracking and popping off his body as the purity of the qi in his body increased, Myeol Mang continued with his slowed and lengthened breathing.

 

However, the longer Myeol Mang maintained his slow and lengthened breath, the more he felt the unknown presence stop affecting the flow of energy. Until finally, after twenty minutes, the unknown presence was completely gone.

 

CRACK!

 

Suddenly feeling a ripple across his entire body, Myeol Mang let out a disgruntled groan as his entire body shook from the ripple.

 

However, Myeol Mang, in the midst of another ripple across his body, closed his eyes.

When Shik Ja-Kyung opened his eyes after being thrown against the wall by an unknown force, he was left speechless at the sight of Myeol Mang’s skin cracking along his neck and falling off.

 

‘What the hell?! He’s forming a dantian AND undergoing the process of entering the realm of Attainment at the same time!?’

 

However, after an audible ripple suddenly occurred as the skin on the back of Myeol Mang’s neck all fell off at once, a blinding light suddenly emitted from Myeol Mang.

 

‘Gah, what the hell?’ Shik Ja-Kyung thought as he shielded his eyes from Myeol Mang.

 

Shik Ja-Kyung then turned around and faced the wall he had been slammed into and waited patiently for the blinding light to stop being emitted from Myeol Mang.

 

‘How long has it been? Fifteen minutes?’ Shik Ja-Kyung thought as he noticed the light reflecting off the wall begin to fade.

 

After standing up and turning around to face Myeol Mang, Shik Ja-Kyung was flabbergasted as he could feel a heavy and pure dantian circulating energy throughout Myeol Mang’s body.

 

“Myeol Mang, have you finished learning the Foundations of Heaven and Earth method?” Shik Ja-Kyung asked as he walked towards Myeol Mang.

 

Opening his eyes as he heard Shik Ja-Kyung question him, Myeol Mang swiftly responded.

 

“Yes I have, and as you seem to have noticed, with great success too.”

 

“Well then, it seems like we should go and inform Master Tang of your success.” Shik Ja-Kyung said as he started walking towards the room’s door.

 

“Sure, let’s go down together shall we?” Myeol Mang replied as he stood up off the floor.

 

However, just as Shik Ja-Kyung was about to open the door, Han Soo-Hyun opened the door from the outside.

 

“Master Uncle, is it time to report to Master Tang?”

 

“Yes, now come on, we should report to him as soon as possible.” Shik Ja-Kyung said as he walked past Han Soo-Hyun with Myeol Mang directly behind him.

 

“Yes, Master Uncle.” Han Soo-Hyun said as he followed behind Myeol Mang once he had entered the hallway.

 

After walking down the stairs and into the main hall, Myeol Mang looked around but couldn’t find Jin Tang.

 

“If Master Tang isn’t here, he must be in the training hall with Sung Ho.” Myeol Mang said as he started walking towards the main hall doors.

“Are you sure I’m not here, Myeol Mang?” 

 

Suddenly turning around and knocking over Shik Ja-Kyung when he heard Jin Tang’s voice from behind him, Myeol Mang bowed towards Jin Tang.

 

“Master Tang, I didn’t realize you were still here.” Myeol Mang said as he looked up and saw Jin Tang staring deeply at him.

 

“So you’ve gone straight to the Realm of Attainment?” Jin Tang said as he looked towards Shik Ja-Kyung.

 

“Yes he has.” Shik Ja-Kyung said as Jin Tang started walking towards him.

 

“So, if my now star student has gone from having no internal energy to the Realm of Attainment in the span of an hour, he must have had a gracious amount of help from say, a Shaolin monk trying to take my student?” Jin Tang said as he stared deeply into Shik Ja-Kyung’s eyes.

 

“That would not be the case Master Tang.” Myeol Mang said as he walked forward and placed his hand on Shik Ja-Kyung’s shoulder.

 

“Then how did you jump an entire realm in just one hour Myeol Mang?” Jin Tang said with confusion spread across his face.

 

“I’m not too sure myself, all I know is that neither Shik Ja-Kyung or Han Soo-Hyun helped me while I was performing the Foundations of Heaven and Earth.”

 

“So you reached the Realm of Attainment without any help from either Shik Ja-Kyung or Han Soo-Hyun? Do you know how unbelievable that is?”

 

“Master Tang, the most Shik Ja-Kyung did to help me was teach me how to perform the basics of the technique, he didn’t help me while I was using the technique. And Han Soo-Hyun was outside the entire time, so he couldn’t have helped.”

 

“You still don’t understand how much of a big deal this is do you? Jumping straight into the Realm of Attainment is practically unheard of. And in the cases it has happened, an outsider was involved with the process, so the fact that you not only had no help from Shik Ja-Kyung or Han Soo-Hyun, managed to create a dantian with nearly no impurities and jumped straight into the Realm of Attainment is very unbelievable.”

 

“But it’s what happened, you can’t deny it. I managed to create a dantian with nearly no impurities and rose straight to the Realm of Attainment with no help,. Believe it or not that’s what happened.” Myeol Mang sighed out, not caring if Jin Tang believed him anymore.

 

“Hmmmmmm. Well you are right, there are some things that don’t add up, but I guess it could be your potential that helped you get this far.” Jin Tang said before closing his eyes to ponder over Myeol Mang’s story once more.

 

“Before you go too deeply into thought Master Tang, do I have anything else I have to do today?” Myeol Mang questioned.

 

“For now since you’ve created a dantian faster than expected, spend the next week getting used to using your newfound internal energy and continue to build upon your dantain as well.”

 

“So practice using my internal energy in my regular movements so I can get a better control over it and continue using the Foundations of Heaven and Earth to increase my internal energy?”

 

“Precisely, now if you’ll excuse me, I have to get back to Sung Ho’s physical training.” Jin Tang said as he opened the main hall doors and began walking around to the training hall.

 

“Well, Shik Ja-Kyung, since this task is something I don’t need help with, I’ll see you next week.” Myeol Mang said as he slipped through the barely open main hall doors and walked towards an open patch of grass nearby with a single tree at its center.

 

After stepping out onto the nearby patch of grass, Myeol Mang squatted down and began letting his internal energy into his legs before pushing himself off the ground.

 

However, after Myeol Mang pushed himself off the ground, he noticed that his body was far lighter than it was an hour ago.

 

“What the hell!?” Myeol Mang exclaimed after looking down and seeing the roof of the main hall below him.

 

After he slowly fell back down to the patch of grass beneath him, Myeol Mang looked down at the ground beneath his feet, only to discover the ground had dented around him to brace his fall.

 

“Seriously, just by gaining internal energy I can leave a dent in the ground from jumping!? And this is only the Realm of Attainment, what would happen if I did the same in the Realm of Acceptance or Truth?” Myeol Mang thought as he started flowing energy into his hand.

 

However, as the energy flowed into his hand, Myeol Mang noticed a faint hue around his fingers which grew ever so slightly brighter the more internal energy he directed into his hand.

 

“Is this stuff my qi?” Myeol Mang thought as he shook his hand to see if the light blue hue would disappear.

 

However, after several unsuccessful attempts the light blue hue remained on his hand.

 

“Well it is my qi so I should have expected that it wouldn’t come off.” Myeol Mang said as he returned his qi back to his dantian.

 

After watching the light blue hue dissipate from his hand, Myeol Mang began walking towards his room as he thought about the mysterious presence that helped him while he was performing the Foundations of Heaven and Earth technique.

 

‘Was that presence the Transcendental path? Or was it someone nearby who could inject their energy into me? No it can’t be that, they’d have to know how to use the Foundations of Heaven and Earth. Who helped me then?’ Myeol Mang thought before arriving at his room and opening the door.

 

“Wait, if the presence that helped me was from the Transcendental path, then whoever helped me must also be connected to the Transcendental path. Did my mom help me with the Foundations of Heaven and Earth technique through my body at home!?”
