Lily Lililith took a step out of her house with a very long sigh, again. This morning she already went around the town square looking for jobs already, but none fits her, nothing works, not even her. She hid herself under a black hoodie, the 11th identical one in the closet and walked around aimlessly with her head pointing downwards again.
This sucks. She thought, that old geze won't stop blabbering about her having to do something for her life instead of cornering herself all day long imitating edgy shits. Well to those people, she had nothing to say to them.
"Oh... Hello miss! Do you have a moment and some changes to help feed starving children all around the country? Even the smallest dime helps!"
Lily heard a light female voice calling out to her. She turned to see an animal mascot holding up a charity sign and a cardboard box asking for some changes, it was a inflatable fluffy cartoonish brown bear costume, with just the eyes barely see-through and Lily could make out some strands of white hair and sweating forehead of a girl inside.
"Is this what you do for a living?" Lily asked.
"Oh, I'm glad you stopped by and certainly not miss! I am volunteering since I am still a student. Do you have a moment to talk about donating?"
"..." Lily Lililith looked at the girl in the giant bear costume up and down with her hands in her pocket, she frowns a bit out of confusion.
"What do you gain from this? You feed one, there are ten more starving."
"Oh! I do not wish to be negative like that. I'm sure every penny helps a ton because the lord is watching over us and Mother always told me that every action matters." The girl replied, her voice was slightly muffled.
"We're all going to die at the end, even if you try and help people your entire life. It won't change the fact that the sun will explodes, nothing matters and one day you'll bury your mother... By the way, your costume looks hideous."
Lily Lililith did not understand why she's so grumpy and rude today, she was, perhaps a bit annoyed by the person she's talking to right now for no perticular reason other than different in views.
"Oh... I think you are correct, um... But the lord won't be happy that we keep those thoughts in our head, would you like an apple? I brought a plenty, take as much as you want!" The mascot pointed to a nearby bench, where a basket of fresh red apples were just sitting there all along.
"I don't need your handouts... I was just stopping by because I thought I could ask for a job like yours, but if you're volunteering for a meaningless cause, I guess I should not waste your time."
With both hands in her hoodie pockets, Lily let out a huge sigh and turned around immediately. But just five steps away, she could hear the loud rustling noises of a human inside the giant bear costume walking right behind her, Lily did not care about it at first, but then she notices its hand on her shoulder, tapping so slightly to get her attention.
"Oh, I think I could help you with that! Have you try the convenience store down the road there?" The girl in the costume said.
"Fired." Lily replied.

"Didn't accept."

"Kicked the manager in the groin."
"Oh my- Um... The-"
"Already broke the dishes at that restaurant." Lily cuts the girl off before she could even suggest.
"I also heard the supermarke-"
"They said I can't wear black."
The animal mascot then raised her own bear hand to try and scratch her head, but it only added to the awkwardness since she could not reach her hair right there.
"Oh... I think my shift's almost over... Do you want to grab some ice cream while we figure this out?"
"..." Lily stared blankly at the girl. "Why are you trying to help me, weirdo?"
"Hey that's rude! Oh... And um- Mother said I should be kind and help everyone anyone whenever I could, I think you need my help right now!"
Lily could not see this, but the person behind the costume was smiling to brightly.
"Help? Is this what you think it is? I was just answering your questions. I don't need any help, I am emo, being by myself is what I do and the only thing I need is the soothing darkness..."
"E...mo?" The girl paused for a bit, before a figurative lightbulb shine on top of her head and she nodded, "I see! I also really like Elmo from Sesame Street! He's just so cute and friendly."
"GOD DAMN IT WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE."
