Chapter 1: Prologue: A Second Chance

'Is this how I die?'

Laying on the cold ground a young boy is seen, unmoving with blood seeping out. If one were to look closer, one would notice a gunshot wound on his stomach.

'I knew I never had the best luck, but how unlucky am I to get caught up in a robbery. Just another day of my boring life, but when I'm walking home, two guys just come up and steal my bag. Then when I fight back, they shoot me.'

As the blood kept oozing out, I could feel my body getting weaker, my consciousness slowly fading away.

'So, this is it? This is where I die? Without anyone by my side?' I thought as my memories played in my mind. 'Wow. What they say about your life flashing before you die is true.'

The blood spread even more and the light in my eyes got dimmer. The time of death itching ever closer. 'Mom, Dad. I'm sorry. It looks like I'm going to go on first.' I thought before I closed my eyes for the last time.

In a pitch-black space, there was a soul. As time passed, the soul slowly regained its consciousness.

'What the hell. I'm sure I died, so what is this place?'

Suddenly, there was a change in the surroundings. The darkness lit up, the black color turning into white.

The soul was confused as it took in the changes. Its attention was focused on the being that manifested itself in front of it.

The moment it saw the mysterious being, it was speechless. Simply calling her beautiful was an insult, for no word could possibly describe her beauty. With long white hair that reached her ankles, bright azure eyes, and white skin. Without a doubt, she was the most breathtaking sight the soul had ever seen.

Setting her eyes upon the soul, she spoke. "Hello there, James Hart. I am Kadeara, the goddess of life. I'm sure you have many questions, so please do not hesitate. I shall answer them to the best of my ability." She said, in a soothing voice that would calm even the most violent of beasts.

"Alright then. First off, what is this place?" I said

"Currently, we are in a separate dimension I have created. I placed you here so you are not affected by the cycle of reincarnation."

"If that's the case, why? Why did you pull me out of this 'cycle of reincarnation'. There must have been a reason why a goddess like you chose to do such a thing." I asked, confusion evident in my voice.

"That is right. I did it because I felt your sorrow and regret. As a goddess, I am able to do many things, such as feeling the emotions of a person. I was in my domain when I felt a strong feeling. It piqued my curiosity, so I decided to see what it was. That is how I found you, a soul that was about to enter the cycle of reincarnation. However, after I read your memories, I felt pity so I decided to grant you another chance."

"Another chance? You mean I can live again?"

That is right, as the goddess of life, I have some authority over reincarnation, thus I can grant this opportunity for you." She said.

I was shocked. A second chance at life sounded unbelievable, yet I wholeheartedly believed this person could do it. She was a goddess after all, a goddess of life no less. I couldn't imagine how powerful she was.

"Alright then, I accept."

"Wonderful. Now then, let's begin. I do not wish for you to suffer a second time in your new life, so I will grant you three wishes and let you choose what world you want. Just so you know, the worlds of fiction from your previous world are all real."

'What?! You mean the anime worlds are all real! This is wonderful, I wonder which one I should choose.'

After a few minutes, I made up my mind. "I want to be reincarnated into the world of My Hero Academia. As for my first wish, I want my quirk to be a dragon. I want to be able to transform into a dragon and have all the powers a dragon would, it also can't be stolen or copied. Second, I want to have infinite potential and enhanced growth. Finally, I want the ability to comprehend anything."

"Okay. That is acceptable. Do you want to be born in the same year as the protagonist?" She asked.

"Yes please, and if possible I want to be in the same country as well."

"Do not worry, I will make that happen. Well then, that is everything, it is time to say goodbye. This has been a very enjoyable time, I do not recall when I last had such fun. It is almost saddening that we have to part." She said with a face and voice that expressed her sadness.

I couldn't believe what was happening in front of me. A goddess was happy because of the time she spent with me? She was sad that I had to leave? Not to mention, the sad expression and voice. This really isn't good for my heart.

"Don't be sad, you're a goddess, right? Can't you watch over me like those other gods in the novels I read?" I said in an effort to make her happy.

"Yes, but that would not be the same. I cannot interfere in worldly matters, so I would not be able to interact with you."

'Well, there goes that idea. Think, think. There must be something else' I thought hard for about a minute when I came up with an idea. It was ridiculous but perhaps possible.

"In that case, do you want to go with me?"

"Huh? Go with you? Are you perhaps trying to court me? If so, then you are quite good, considering you never did such a thing in your previous life. However, this proposition sounds fun and is possible." She said in a bit of a teasing tone.

She then entered into a thinking stance. I watched all this while hoping she would agree. I would be lying if I said I wasn't attracted to her, I mean, just looking at her makes me blush. Not to mention, it would be exciting to have an actual goddess accompany me.

She then looked up at me and opened her lips. "Very well then, I will go with you. You need not worry, I will ensure that we will meet."

"Really? I was actually expecting you would reject it." I said, disbelief prevalent in my voice.

"Oh? Do you mean to say you tried to court me without knowing whether I would accept? You are either bold or stupid." She said, once again with her teasing voice.

I could feel my face flush, this goddess seems like the type that doesn't know much on this topic, and yet she's teasing me so easily.

"Jokes aside, I am very interested in you and this is a good opportunity to experience human life. Now then, shall we get going? We cannot remain here forever."

"Alright."

Just as I said that something that looks to be a magic circle appeared beneath us, shining with bright light. After a few seconds, we disappeared, as the dimension collapsed.
