The rest of the orcs bowed down pretty quick after I gave Bracca the beating of his life. Seeing their leader not only get taken out by a girl, but in two hits hammered the fear of death in them. As a result of my victory, and according to the Rolling Plains tribe tradition, I have been made their new chieftain.

Apparently, that means I get Bracca's tent. Which is great. It's a big fucking tent with human furniture presumably stolen from the all the places they've raided. It provides me some semblance of comfort sleeping on a bed instead of the hard ground.

My problem is, I also get all of his 'wives.'

All six of his wives— or I guess they are my wives now— are just as confused as I am.

"Uh. How do I say this? You're free to go. You don't have to stay here with me. In fact, I prefer to sleep alone."

A woman whose ears are shaped like knives and skin as dark as chocolate finds the courage to speak up.

"Some of us have been in captivity for years. Others have had their homes destroyed and families lost. We wouldn't even know where to go anymore."

Every one of them stares at me like a bunch of kids on their last ten minutes at daycare. Some of them wear strange-looking leather collars on their necks, too similar to be a piece of accessory they're wearing for fun. Are those the collars Bracca wanted to put on me?

"Tch. I got held back twice in highschool. As if I know the first thing about marriage. Ahhh, whatever… I ain't interested in sex or love. You guys are welcome to stay, just don't bother me."

I lay down on the oversized bed, but before I can get comfortable, my stomach rumbles so loud the other women give me an awkward look. Come to think of it, I was saving the rest of the boar for breakfast. Then the orcs came and took me away.

An orc throws open the tent flap, startling the women around my bed.

"Learn to knock! Don't you know what privacy is?" I throw a pillow at the intruders. They shut the tent, and after some shuffling and grunting outside, they stomp their feet on the ground to simulate knocking.

"We bring offerings to appease new chieftain!"

"Oh. I was just thinking about murdering another boar. Don't keep me waiting!"

Three orcs enter the tent a second time, each with chains in their hands. At the end of the chains are women shackled with iron collars.

The orc at the head of the ground thumps his chest proudly. "We think new chieftain be happy with more wives."

I climb out of bed fuming between the ears. "Is this a fucking joke?"

"Eh? Chief-Chieftain no want more wives?" Beads of sweat quickly form on his head.

"Does it look like I want more women?" I point to the half-dozen women already crowding my tent. "If you want to appease me, then bring me something to eat!"

"Y-Yes, chieftain!" The green giants trip over themselves getting out of the tent, leaving the women behind for me to deal with.

The newcomers wait wordlessly expecting me to give them orders.

"Damn it… just sit with the others for now."

This is beginning to look like a hen house. How am I going to get rid of them? I sure as hell can't sleep if they're just going to sit there staring at me the whole time.

Heavy footfalls alert me to the orcs' return.

"That was quick," I remark, heading towards the entrance.

"Chieftain, we back with food."

The head orc hands me an entire human leg. Dried blood has already coagulated around where it was severed from the rest of the body. Maggots squirming along the flesh slip and fall to the ground.

"Are you fucking with me?"

"What we do wrong— oof!"

I slap his face with the foot end of the leg and rap my knuckles on his chest. "Do I look big, green, and ugly to you?"

His mouth flaps open, unsure how to respond so as to not incite my wrath. I slap him again for good measure.

"Where's your farm? Got any livestock?"

"Ahh, we no have any! All food we pillage from smaller races we eat on the spot." The orc cowers, holding his arms up to guard from another foot slap.

I toss the leg back into his arms and ask the women instead. "What do you eat?"

They avoid eye contact with me. The dark elf woman points to the leg in the orc's clutches.

"Aside from the occasional bread and captured animal, we either starve… or eat that."

I glance back at the three orcs, all of whom shrug. "Stealing and killing easier than farming."

"You. What's your name?" I ask the only other woman willing to speak to me.

"Loraine, chieftain."

Getting a good look at Loraine, this chick is a bombshell. Raven-black hair, tall, curves in all the right places. Stacked.

I'm jealous looking at her.

"Alright, baby hulks. Grab your gear, we're going hunting. Loraine, you're coming with. The rest of you girls… uh, wives— women, sit tight."

The five of us head out into the wide expanse of the Rolling Plains savannah. A high midday sun beats down on us. I'm sweaty and disgusting all over, and beginning to see why the orcs and women here dress in sparse clothing.

Damn. Why am I even out here?

It doesn't take long until we come across a sounder of boars drinking and bathing in a waterhole. I wipe the sweat from my face, envious of the boars' frolicking in the water while we're sweating an ocean.

"I don't get it. Boars are dime a dozen out here, why don't you raise them as livestock?" I ask the orcs.

The head orc scratches his bald head. "Why raise when we can eat after capturing?"

It takes all my effort not to crack Sacchan on his head.

"New plan. We're going to capture a few, and start raising them as livestock. We are not going to eat them on the spot."

My plan earns a round of disappointed groans and grunts from the orcs, but they accept it nonetheless because I'm their chieftain.

Well, we've located some boar. Just need to figure out how to capture them without scaring them away. The last one I fought was aggressive, but it was also much larger than the ones down there which are probably young and prone to fleeing.

Weird…

If these are a bunch of young boars, then where are the adults?

Loraine looks on with indifference. She's probably not thrilled at the prospect of helping the tribe that kidnapped and violated her. Regardless, everyone needs to eat so this is a necessary evil.

"Righto, I don't like planning either—"

There's a tug on my shirt. Loraine looks up and says, "if you take my collar off, I can help you."

She points to the leather collar on her neck. On closer inspection, there's a single blue gem embedded along the leather. As I reach for it, the orcs start freaking out.

"No take that off, chieftain!"

"It dangerous!"

"Why…?" I ask, my hands already on the collar's buckle.

"We dunno. Bracca put them on, says bad things happen if we take off."

"Huh… in that case, I'll leave it on for now and we can talk about it later." I take my hand off it and look at Loraine who glances away in shame. The boars are still playing around in the waterhole, but there's no telling when they'll up and leave. "There's a bunch down there. We'll surround 'em and try to capture one each. Got it?"

We head down and spread out, crawling low along the tall grass to keep hidden. Once we get into place, I whistle loud to signal everyone to spring into action. The boars see us coming and scatter in every direction.

Using Sacchan, I'm able to knock two out before the rest slip by. Two out of three of the orcs manage to catch one, and Loraine also comes back empty-handed.

I wipe the sweat from my forehead. "Whew! Four's good enough. I made sure not to bonk 'em too hard."

We're about to carry our new livestock back when the ground starts shaking. A mountain emerges from within the waters, but we soon see that it's something else entirely. A boar the size of a house saunters out, grunting ferociously.

"What the fuck does that thing even eat out here?" I wonder aloud as it shakes itself dry, flinging mud in every direction.

The orcs fall back in fear, losing hold of the smaller boars in their grasp. "D-D-Dire boar!"

Loraine grabs my shoulders. "Take my collar off. I can take that thing with magic!"

I scratch my chin, curious about seeing magic firsthand. "Magic, huh."

I reach behind her to unbuckle the collar. She races forward to face the rampaging boar and mutters something under her breath. The world around me suddenly gets hotter. A massive fireball drops from the sky, incinerating the boar into charred pork. It falls over with a loud thud.

"Oh, shit. Nice work—" A smaller fireball is launched towards me, but I manage to bat it away. It was aimed a little to my right. Loraine was trying to hit the orcs. "Whaddya think you're doing?"

"I have no quarry with you. Stand aside and let me kill those orcs," she demands, as three more balls of fire form in front of her.

Another dire boar rises quietly from the waterhole and creeps towards Loraine.

"Behind you!" I warn, but she's too focused on the orcs to notice.

"I'm not falling for— ah!" She slips on wet ground taking a step forward and finally sees the behemoth. Seeing its prey down, it begins to charge at full speed.

"No, you don't!"

I rush forward and slam Sacchan onto the dire boar's head, stopping it in its tracks. The momentum carries it forward, flipping over our heads and to the orcs who dive away before getting crushed.

"You alright?" I ask, extending a hand to Loraine.

With tears in her eyes, Loraine skips right to throwing her arms over me. "I'm so sorry!"

"Okay, okay. Get off, this is getting embarrassing…"

We had to call more orcs over to lug the two dire boars back. The entire tribe and myself, including the human women, dine well tonight on the two dire boars we killed. Loraine put aside her anger towards the orcs for now, and opted to stay by my side even after I offered her freedom.

Despite having a full stomach, I can't sit still. Something is bothering me. Like there was an important task to do that was forgotten.

"What's wrong, chieftain? You look troubled," Loraine asks, refilling my cup with water.

It hits me like a truck.

"We were supposed to bring back live boars, damn it!"
