“Huh?” Liz blurted out. Despite having just come apart, having had a mind-blowing, twitching orgasm, the strangeness of the words inserted into her brain pierced the haze. ‘Awakening Ritual Complete’? ‘Class Unlocked: Succubus’?
Class?
Like a videogame?
Morgana hadn’t mentioned anything like this. By the way she’d talked about it, it had sounded like … Liz didn’t know. Fantasy-esque? Like she’d be learning how to cast spells through her mind? Or, it might still be that way, but ‘class’? Huh?
“What?” Morgana asked.
“Class?”
“Class,” Morgana repeated.
“You didn’t say anything about classes.”
“What?”
“Huh?”
“Class?”
Liz backed up. Maybe something strange had happened. Both of them sounded confused, if the ridiculous exchange hadn’t given that away.
“Something just said into my head, ‘Class Unlocked: Succubus’.”
“Said into your head?”
“Like, a disembodied voice. My own?”
“Liz?” Morgana asked, concerned. Her brow furrowed down. “I didn’t do anything wrong, did I? Are you okay? Or was your climax that intense?”
Liz froze. “No, I didn’t lose my mind from— from—” She cleared her throat. “That was, uh, part of the ritual, right?”
“Yes? You didn’t think you’d just … ?”
Liz flushed. She steered back to the original topic. “What was the voice?”
“I don’t know.”
She didn’t know? It had definitely happened.
Feeling absurd, Liz thought internally, hello? Voice? What was that? Class, succubus?
Liz almost jumped when she got a response.

The menu was imprinted into her brain—not overlaid across her vision, just, simply … there. Something she was aware of. Impossible to describe.
More than the strangeness of how it had been presented, though, Liz was stunned by the content.
Level one? Harvest? Stats?
Like a videogame. No doubt, this time.
“Liz?” Morgana asked.
“Uh, hold on a second.”
This obviously wasn’t what Morgana had expected to happen. Why had it? Why had Liz’s awakening come with … this strange interface?
Was it because of who she was? Modern-day, anti-social shut in?
A class came with skills.
Do I have skills? she asked herself.
[ Glamour | Lv. 1 ] - Distort target’s perception of reality.
[ Awareness | Lv. 1 ] - When inspecting a target for the first time that day, have a small chance to reveal insights.
[ Harvest | Lv. 1 ] - Sexual interactions extract a portion of target’s latent energy.
[ Coalesce | Lv. 1 ] - Funnel harvested energy to advance skills.
“Oh my god,” Liz said.
“What?”
“What the heck is going on?” How in the world had an awakening ritual to become a succubus … somehow gone off the rails? It was weird by itself, and somehow, things had become even weirder.
How did she explain this to Morgana? She didn’t even know what video games were.
Not to mention the details behind the skills she’d received. Those, at least, sounded like exactly what Morgana had told her she’d be learning. Except it didn’t sound like she needed to ‘learn’ them. They were just there. Ready to be used. Or did they take practice?
Okay.
Liz had to explain herself. Maybe she was making too many assumptions. Maybe Morgana would know what was going on, even if she’d been confused by ‘class’.

“What the fuck,” Morgana said.
“Uh. Yeah.”
“I must have done something wrong. But I didn’t. I’m … so confused.”
“That makes two of us.”
“Can you do the same thing to me?”
“Thing?”
“Get that … ‘menu’. Like you did for yourself.”

“Morgana Oz’oran,” Liz repeated.
Morgana twitched, eyes shooting open in surprise. “How do you—it worked?”
Liz’s impossible discovery of Morgana’s surname was proof she wasn’t insane, or making things up. Morgana hadn’t seemed to think that, but confirmation was nice, either way.
“It did. Your status isn’t the same as mine. It lists out … latent energy, corruption, and insights.” The last was presumably part of her [Awareness] skill, which worked once a day. “All of the insights failed.”
“What are they?”
“The insights? Insecurities, likes, dislikes, fetishes,” Liz said. “I guess at level one, the skill isn’t reliable.”
“But you can upgrade it?”
“Through [Coalesce], yeah. I guess.”
“Weird.” Morgana puzzled over the concept, frowning down at the floor. “Huh. By the sounds of it, my tutelage isn’t going to be super useful.”
“We don’t know if the skills just … work,” Liz said. “I’d have to test them out.”
“Use me, then. Glamour. I won’t resist.”
“That’s something you can do?”
“For normal spells, yeah. For yours?” She shrugged. “Clearly, something odd is going on with how you’ve awakened.”
“Okay. Um.”
Liz thought about it.
[ Glamour | Lv. 1 ] - Distort target’s perception of reality.
First things first. Level one meant it was weak—four consecutive failures of [Awareness] had proved that. So Liz had to keep things small. She had to distort Morgana’s perception on something that would prove the skill worked, but was minor enough the skill would take hold.
Something small, unimportant.
Liz focused on Morgana, then thought: My hair is brown. In an indescribable way, she activated [Glamour].
Morgana shivered. “Oh, yeah. I felt that. You did something to me—I didn’t stop it. What happened?”
“What color is my hair?” Liz asked.
Morgana looked briefly confused. “Brown?”
It had worked, then. “It’s black.”
“No, it’s—” Morgana paused. “Huh. I knew that. Of course it’s black. But it’s brown.”
“I did something small. To make sure the skill didn’t fizzle.”
“Wow.” Morgana seemed vaguely peeved. “A minor glamour would take hours to teach. And you can just do it?”
“I guess so.”
“I’m torn between annoyed and happy. Because your success is mine … but still. Cheating, don’t you think?” She crossed her arms, pouting.
Liz laughed. It was more incredulous than humorous. The bizarreness of her situation hadn’t faded; she was as perplexed as ever.
And, uh. Morgana was still naked. Her crossed arms, and pouty expression, was hard to brush off. But at least Liz had grown used to her body, in some tiny way.
“You could have resisted?” Liz asked.
“Yeah. I just didn’t.”
So not total cheating; another magic user could deny her. Not that Liz thought that would be a problem. The supernaturally aware—much less gifted—were apparently rare.
“So,” Morgana said. “I guess you’re ready to go, then. You don’t need training.”
Liz paused.
She guessed she didn’t.
“So once we get you cleaned up,” Morgana said, “it’s time for your first target.”
