The space around the fortress rapidly began to fill with mist. That vapor spreading far faster than should have been possible with the volume that was being emitted from the snake’s mouth. Dian Huifang in the distance was still watching the battle and she immediately recognized what was going on, “Poison Law!”

Songji was new to the world of laws, especially since she was a Demonic Beast. Demonic Beasts mostly gained their understanding of laws through their own innate bloodlines and ancestral memories. Just like in most things, the majority of their potential was already decided upon their birth. Only after fortuitous encounters or slowly over their extremely long lifespans would a Demonic Beast advance beyond the potential described by their bloodline.

Dian Huifang just assumed she was ignorant and explained to her, “Poison is one of the Major Laws. It’s no wonder that fellow was so confident. Most Core Formation Cultivators can only grasp a Minor Law. Those Yin Yang Twins use the major laws of Dark and Light, but they only seem to have reached the fourth degree.”

The white vapor wasn’t just coming from Sage’s mouth, it was also reproducing itself. Releasing his Qi into the outside world, Sage was resonating with the outside energy of the world and gaining its assistance. Instead of using only internal power, the laws were the key to borrowing the power of the external world. The greater the understanding, the more powerful the efficiency. Once a law had reached the highest degree, a cultivator could move the world with just a thought, or so it was said. The main way the law of poison was used, was to replicate and amplify a poison that already existed.

In just a few minutes, the white fog had already covered the whole area around the Fortress, extending all the way to the Million Scale Shell Formation being maintained by the Dragoons. The fog seemed quite heavy and it covered the ground, slowly rising higher and higher as time passed. The mass of black and silvery liquid was already completely covered by the rising gas by the time the Yin Yang Twins reappeared. They darted into the sky, floating in the air over the Fortress. Yin once again had her inky black wings of darkness flapping on her back, while Yang had a six foot wide golden ring floating above his head and illuminating him like a miniature sun. The two looked almost like the aspects of an angel torn in two, one with black wings and the other with an oversized halo.

From afar, Dian Huifang and Songji couldn’t help themselves, gasping at the view. The starkness of the two figures, one black and one white, hovering in the air over a castle in the sky. From afar, the heavy fog completely hid the ground and looked like the top of the clouds. The huge rocks supporting the Fortress rose abruptly from the white mist, making it look like the Fortress was sitting at the very peak of a mountain that extended into the clouds.

Yin and Yang only now realized what they were up against. The thick white clouds beneath them had almost reached the height of the Fortress and they continued to grow larger. With so much of the fog, they would be fools if they couldn’t recognize the power of another law. They were familiar with Wind, Water, and many of their aspects that made up Minor Laws. Given the shape of the beast they were fighting and the attacks they’d already faced, they put two and two together, coming to the same conclusion as Dian Huifang. Yin waved her hand and a fan made of darkness fell towards the ground. It swiped a few times, causing the fog to be blown away in a large area.

Only, the fog didn’t stay gone. It was merely dispersed outwards for a short while before it sank back down again, falling onto the black fan and surrounding it. Yin observed for a while before speaking, “It doesn’t seem to have an effect on the darkness, but it’s likely to be some sort of poison.”

The mist continued to rise, changing the Fortress from the peak of a mountain to a castle floating in the sky. Neither Yin or Yang had caught sight of the giant cobra, though they could feel him moving around beneath them. It was obvious a law was being used, but it spread over a wide area and they couldn’t pinpoint the position of their enemy. Yang growled with anger, “Come out and fight you coward!”

Yang was absolutely seething. He’d just had to knock out the majority of his Disciples because of this damn snake and now the whole place had turned into a huge poison cloud. That’s when he realized they’d left all the Disciples in the Fortress in an unconscious state. Their four strongest Disciples were watching over them, but what about that cloud? He looked down to the Fortress and then to the woman beside him, “Yin, what about…”

She cut him off, “They’re already being moved to a room with no windows on the top floor and I just instructed them to use a Defensive Formation Plate.”

Yang nodded, giving up on worry and feeding all of that emotion into his valorous aura. He shot higher and performed the same technique as he had earlier. Calling upon his Law of Light and utterly bathing the battlefield with blindingly bright and searing hot light. The fog down below began to sizzle and burn, the cleansing light purging the poison from the mist and allowing it to fade away. After a few seconds of intense brilliance, the world dimmed once again. The heavy layer of fog that had been tens of feet tall was now only a few feet tall and they saw glimpses of the ground once more.

Their eyes immediately shifted to a source of motion. Finally catching sight of that giant cobra and immediately throwing attacks at it as it tried to escape. Yin flapped her dark wings and shot towards the snake, forming a ball of darkness in her hand the size of a basketball. As she moved into position over the cobra, Yang turned into a bolt of light and appeared in the air in front of the cobra’s path. He held out his hands and dozens of pencil thin beams of light peppered the ground. It created a laser light show, spraying over the ground like a shotgun, the burning rays searing marks against the cobra’s scales as they passed. Yang’s attack was brilliant, dazzling, intense, and immediate. The smell of burnt flesh came from the giant cobra even as Yin finished her preparations. She threw the ball of twisting writhing darkness upon the snake and it suddenly expanded in mid-air. Dozens of black tendrils extend in the horizontal, expanding into a web of shadowy tentacles. Falling over the huge serpent and stabbing into the ground to pin it down and lock its motion. Not only was the web of darkness dense enough to prevent the snake from squeezing through it also moved on its own, wrapping around the snake’s body from every direction.

Yin and Yang closed in on the giant snake, but that also distracted them from the sudden movement in the distance. A metallic blue figure suddenly shot forth from the fading mist and smashed one foot into the ground, shooting through the air towards Yang’s back.
