Monsters and demons roamed in the wilderness and those who weren’t lucky enough might just encounter one. Mr. Li’s family once told him that if he ever came across one, he had to avoid it and head to where there were more people.
Right now, the place with the most humans was this yard. Although the people in here didn’t seem friendly, no matter how he looked at it, they were still people.
But that thing outside might not be one.
With their faces drained of color, the youngsters hurried inside, stunning the two groups of villains in the yard.
“Are these seven cowards really here for the Beastmaster Fourth Scroll after all?” two of the Four Devils of Mount Kui immediately got up with menacing looks.
Mr. Li held up his hands at once in respect, explaining the situation outside without the courage to lie.
“My good sirs, we are beast appraisal students from Xuyang City, on our way to the royal capital’s headquarters to further our studies. We were just passing by and have no intention of disturbing you but… but there’s something unholy out there and we really don’t want to be in its vicinity. When it leaves, we’ll head out immediately. We definitely won’t disturb you.”
This Mr. Li evidently had no other options. That gorgeous woman out there was definitely not normal and it wasn’t his imagination. He wore a jade piece that was passed down from his ancestors. This jade piece would heat up whenever evil beings were close and just now when they encountered this woman, his jade piece was burning up.
Without question, that thing was definitely a malicious entity. As for this yard, while Qingzhu mentioned a coffin, white ape, and whatnot, he really didn’t see anything. His jade piece didn’t send him any warning signals either so they should be fine.
“Something unholy?” Upon hearing this, the Four Devils of Mount Kui burst into laughter, amused by the youngsters’ cowardice.
The North Ridge Duo looked just as incredulous. Villainous experts like them wouldn’t blink when killing people so even if they did come across ghosts and demons, they wouldn’t be afraid.
Meanwhile, Lin Jin sensed it as well so he looked up at the door.
At that moment, there was a knock.
Immediately, the Four Devils of Mount Kui and the North Ridge Duo froze.
There really was someone out there after all!
They clearly didn’t believe the youngsters’ claims earlier but after hearing this knock, they were mildly shocked.
“What a lively night. Old Four, go and open the door. See what’s out there,” the leader of the four devils instructed.
The man nicknamed ‘Old Four’ nodded and led his pet beast over. When the door knocked earlier, Mr. Li and his group got frightened and huddled up closely together so asking them to open the door would be impossible.
The door opened. Due to the angle issue, they could only see Old Four’s back as he stood at the entrance, letting out a strange laugh.
“Where did this little lady from? What a looker!”
It was a tease.
But the next instant there was a change in the situation. Old Four was suddenly pulled outside by a huge force.
Simultaneously, his pet beast, a jackal, pounced forward as sounds of battle reverberated in the night. However, these sounds lasted for only a few breaths before stopping completely.
Then, there was an eerie silence.
“F*ck, something’s happened to Old Four.” Three of the four devils immediately came to a realization. They couldn’t be blamed for being slow as all of it happened too quickly, too suddenly. It was so sudden that they didn’t know what to do.
Mr. Li and his group got so scared that they retreated to the house, looking terrified.
“What happened? Did anyone see that just now?”

“No. That person just got dragged outside. It must be that woman from just now. She must be a monster.”
“It’s over. We’re doomed.”
“Don’t worry. Stay calm. We have a lot of people here so that female demon might not dare to come in.”
As they spoke, the remaining three devils had drawn out their weapons and rushed outside with their pet beasts. They moved quickly and once outside, sounds of battle and the night breeze whistling could be heard.
This frightened the seven travelers even more.
The North Ridge Duo exchanged glances.
“There might really be a monster causing trouble out there. Old Second, since we’re already here, we’d have to face it eventually. Let’s go and take a look.”
“I figured the same, Big Brother. Although I don’t care for their lives, if there’s really a demon out there, humans are still much more reliable. If they die, it’ll be harder for us two to take it on.”
The duo sure understood the current predicament.
Next, the North Ridge Duo led their Rank 3 bear beasts outside. The fighting sounds outside grew so loud that the ground would even shake from the booming sounds. Besides wolf howls and bear cries, there were also random thunderous roars of a tiger.
Lin Jin was paying attention the entire time.
He didn’t get a clear look as well but he could be sure that there was a monster out there. A monster that had evolved into a demon to boot.
A full-fledged demon.
Demons were rare and Lin Jin wasn’t mistaken. With his spiritual eye, he already noticed how the demonic aura was soaring into the sky, surging in the atmosphere.
Lin Jin wasn’t afraid of beasts. He also had experience beating up a few monsters. But pure demons were a first for him.
Although Lin Jin thought himself quite capable, it was better to be mindful when it came to novel encounters. Moreover, ruthless villains like the North Ridge Duo and the Four Devils of Mount Kui were all hostile beings, still, they ended up dead. Lin Jin couldn’t be bothered but if the demon charged in here, that would be a different story.
All in all, Lin Jin was still hesitating. Xiao Huo remained composed while White Ape couldn’t seem to sit still. The demonic aura out there was so unnerving that he kept scratching his face.
The zombie cthulhu in the coffin poked an antenna out to look around.
In Mr. Li’s group, while that young girl, Qingzhu remained terrified, she had most of her attention focused on Lin Jin.
Seeing her looking at him, Lin Jin gave it some thought before beckoning her over.
Qingzhu was visibly startled and hesitant. She didn’t know how she convinced herself into doing it but Qingzhu slowly made her way over.
At this, her companions immediately questioned her but Qingzhu stayed quiet. Once she was near Lin Jin, she bowed. “Sir, were you asking for me?”
As she spoke, Qingzhu noticed the two-ringed beast logo on Lin Jin’s sleeve and she lit up at once. “Sir, are you a Rank 2 beast appraiser?”
Lin Jin nodded. “I noticed how you could see me when you first came in so I wanted to ask you about it. Is this a gift of yours?”
Now, upon closer observation, Lin Jin could be sure that this young girl was indeed gifted. Her eyes were huge and there was a trace of crimson in her pupils. Her eyes were no doubt special and contained spiritual powers just like those gifted with spiritual vision.
Before all this, Lin Jin wouldn’t have understood, but now, he knew that naturally gifted people had great potential and quality constitutions. They were able to pick things up easier than their average peers, particularly in cultivation.
“Are you all beast appraisal students?” Lin Jin noticed the patterns on her sleeve.
Qingzhu nodded.
“Good, good!” Lin Jin only called her over to ask her about this. Now that he had his answers, there wasn’t much else to ask. However, to Lin Jin, being able to meet was destiny. These youngsters had ended up here by mistake and were innocent people so Lin Jin decided he would ensure their safety.
