Four days into school, and I've had a decent experience so far. I wasn't expecting to be wowed out of my shoes with an amazing experience, but we can still hope for a good one despite the current hurdles.

Late into the night, at around 11 p.m. I received a message from the school's information unit about the school club registration that would be taking place today.

At first, I was hesitant about it, but I finally convinced myself to check it out.

School clubs are a vital part of any student's stay here. They help with communication and teamwork. Sometimes it is even used to fluff a college application, but I believe it is mainly used to join peers who have similar interests to you.

It can be something as boring as watching paint dry. If you have 3 or more students interested in it, then VOILÀ! you have the potential to create a club.

Since it is the first week of the new school year, the various school clubs will be trying to persuade us to join their noble causes.

The school auditorium will be the location of the war-zone. It is not mandatory to join a club, but we still have to check them out.

As I approached the school's massive auditorium, I saw a large group gathered outside, waiting to go in. I'm standing in the line for entry now. I sighed and pulled out my phone to check the time.

It is 11:12 am. I should spend at least 18 minutes here before leaving. The line was slowly moving forward when I noticed the cause of it.

A male student was giving out pins to every student that visited the various clubs' gatherings. Finally, I reached the front of the line and I received a grey cloud pin.

"Please have a great time in there and I hope you settle on a club." The male student said with a warm smile.

I awkwardly nodded my head and walked into the auditorium. Observing the pin in my hand now. I thought it was cute but had no idea what it was supposed to symbolize. Does it mean that we're currently on cloud 9?

Then again, the clouds are grey, so that means it's potentially going to rain. So, does it mean we should be so excited about joining a club that we could possibly end up crying?

Well, I concluded that I was reading too much into this and I should just view it as a cute keepsake for visiting the auditorium during the school clubs' gathering.

As I stepped foot into the spacious building,

*Sniff* *Sniff*

Heh? What's this delicious aroma?

I turned to the left and saw a stall set up. Students dressed in aprons stood behind and in front of it.

Training my eyes on the club's sign now.

Cooking Club

OK, so it turns out I was smelling food, and apparently great food based on my nose.

Two of the students, who were females, approached me, and then one of them spoke.

"Would you be interested in joining the cooking club?"

I looked at her for a half second before giving my answer.

I nervously laughed, "I don't think a kitchen and I will be the best match."

The other girl added in shortly after, "You don't have to be a master chef to join because it is a learning experience."

I pretended to think about it for a moment and then decided to let them down gently.

"Do you have a flyer I can hold onto while deciding on my choice."

"Of course we do."

The first female student gave me a flyer. It was pink with an expressive front.

As I looked at the flyer, I noticed the only thing it was missing was a unicorn and sparkles to really complete the look.

I waved at the two students and then left.

I don't think that the club and I would be a great match at all, but the upside is that the club is filled with beautiful girls. Maybe it's just a front to reel me in, and when I excitedly join, I'll probably never see the same girls from today.

I walked past other stalls now.

Art club. They had some of their work on display, and it was absolutely amazing. My parents had me enrolled in nihonga lessons during my time in the house, along with practicing calligraphy and origami, so that my concentration, creativity, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and critical thinking would be developed. You can say that my parents were thinking far into the future when they piled those activities on me.

Photography and film club. As a person who appreciates fine films and breathtaking pictures, I can see myself potentially joining here.

Tea club?? Why is there a club for tea? Is tea really that grand to the point where people form clubs centered around it? I am not even going to question it.

Mixed Martial Arts club. A potential secret underground fight club

While I observed it. One of the club members walked up to me. I am going to assume he's going to ask me if I am interested in joining.

Suddenly, he struck his first towards me and stopped just a few millimeters away from my face.

I didn't bother to move during that entire fake attack.

He laughed and said, "So you were willing to take a punch in the face?"

I laughed a bit as well and replied, "It's obvious that you weren't really going to strike me, so why would I attempt to dodge or parry it?"

The male student looked at me curiously and said, "You ever thought about joining mixed martial arts?"

I scratched the back of my head, "I am not much of a fighter per se."

The male student nodded his head and replied. "I see. If you ever want to change that, then swing on by. My name is Yuji Namba."

I replied, "Yuki Amaya." as I shook his hand.

Observing the rest of the members who were at the stall, I must say that they look like tough opponents. I don't think I would want to face any of them in combat.

After Yuji left me,

I heard a voice. A man's voice

"We, at the student council, wish to make every student's stay here as comfortable and exciting as possible."

Hmm, student council? I almost forgot that we had that in our school.

"Hey you there. You're a first year, I presume? "

The voice sounded closer this time, so he must be speaking to me.

I turned to face the source of the voice, then saw an average-height male with short black hair and glasses.

He gave off an air of superiority complex, which I assumed the majority of the student council did as well.

"Um, yeah, I am."

The male approached me and introduced himself, "The name's Otani Seichi and I am the student council secretary."

I nervously replied, "Is that so?"

Otani observed me a bit, then said, "You look like a capable student, so why not join the student council as a helper? We have our hands full and it will look good on your college application."

I gently scratched my left cheek with my index finger, "Sounds like you guys need gophers and not actually helpers, so I'll pass. Something like the student council doesn't really appeal to me. "

Otani chuckled a bit and said, "Well, you just figured me out. If you decide to change your mind, you can always swing by the office. What is your name?"

I paused for a moment before answering.

"It's Yuki Amaya."

Ontani walked away before replying to me.

"Well, then, Yuki, I'll see you around campus."

After that exchange, I exhaled deeply.

There are numerous clubs I still haven't checked out yet and I am already drained, so I have come to a decision.

The high school club experience is something I think I would personally like to avoid, along with the student council, as much as possible.
