Episode 164- The Law of Cause and Effect

I'm going to train at the secret place! - Aer

Eugene found this note on the ground right beside her door. It was currently 9 am, somewhat late into the day especially for Eugene who normally wakes up at around 4 or 5 am. But it was inevitable especially because she was awake throughout the night thinking about the conversation she had with Euria yesterday. She felt very complicated and naked almost that she could not close her eyes no matter how hard she tried.

She can deduce from her conversation with Euria that Euria knows who she is. And knowing who she was, implies that Euria is aware that she is not from this world. What was strange was that she was born in this world as 'Eugene', so no one should have known who she really was. She did not take over anyone's body, and even if she did, it was since taking her first breath. Hence, this Eugeneia, was her and the only Eugeneia everyone in Xenperia knows.

She has two identities. Eugene, and Eugeneia. The former was the name she used in her former world, while the latter was her current name. She doesn't know if Euria knows about her former life but from her probing around yesterday, Euria knows about her 'current' body. Her eyes that are able to change eye colors. Her body that was able to produce blood to disintegrate Kal and kill him. Euria despises the mention of her blood and does not want her to use it, implying that Euria was confident to some extent that there are side effects to using her blood as a weapon. She believed this because she also believed in the law of cause and effect and was certain Euria cared about her.

The reason why she became stronger, was because she sacrificed her time and did everything possible to become strong. She believed that to be able to use her blood, there must've been a cause. Eugene thought about this for a long time but she reckoned that the reason why she had fainted for the first time in both of her lives was not due to the blood loss from when she blocked Aernest away from Commander Kal, but rather her blood killing Commander Kal. But, of course, she didn't think it was the 'fainting' that caused the rifts between her and Euria, but that there were other effects she wasn't aware of. Exactly what it is, she doesn't know. All she knew was that it must be bad for Euria to react so strongly.

Now, how does Euria know her body so well? Her body, not even she knows much of? Well, this was the question that really made Eugene stay up all night yesterday. Her first theory was that Euria transmigrated as well. This theory was quickly removed from her brain because Euria had never acted in a way that alluded to such things. If Euria doesn't know what Zombies are, she was sure that she has never transmigrated, hence this theory was crossed out.

Her second theory was that this was Euria's second life. This theory made more sense because Euria was good at everything. Ever since the beginning, Eugene thought of Euria as a genius, however, later on, Euria being able to do almost everything very well became suspicious. But if this was her second life, it made much sense. Of course, Euria was still a genius, but with her former life's experience added to it, she became unparalleled.

However, this meant that this was Euria's second life as Euria… again.

This theory scares Eugene a lot because if Euria was living her second life, this meant that there was a 'real' Eugeneia. It was possible that she had taken over the body of Euria's real sister. This would explain why Euria knew about this body, and possibly also the reason why Euria became distant from her.

Because she wasn't her 'real' sister but was an 'unknown' person.

There was another thing that Eugene thought of last night and it was that Euria's memories were probably triggered as time passed by and eventually came back as a whole when they went to Zene. Eugene was certain that Eugene did not have her memories and only got it in Zene because that was when Euria began to act differently. Because if Euria had her memories from the beginning, she would have hated her because she wasn't her 'real' sister.

"Haa…" Eugene exhaled. It took her a long time, but she had fallen asleep when the sun was up and just woke up. She fell asleep thinking about this topic and was even thinking of this topic when she was awake.

Eugene shook her head. She decided to switch her gears and ponder upon this problem at a later time. And even though she felt not that great about the situation, there was nothing she could do right now.

Eugene left her room to go to the dining room, but she changed her mind just as she was about to enter. She motioned with her hand for the worker who was about to open the door to stop, then turned away and walked in the opposite direction. She had no idea where she was going, but there was something in her that told her not to eat breakfast.

Eugene had been walking down the corridor for a while when she came to a halt due to the metallic sound of swords hitting against each other. Coincidentally, the area she was at was not only providing her a view of the training area but was also where Euria had pushed their grandmother off.

Eugene stood by and watched as Euria sparred with her hidden guard. It was the first time she had seen Euria train in roughly three years, so she was caught slightly off guard at witnessing Euria training.  Their swords training instructor, who was their distant, incredibly distant relative, told them a long time ago that the Veria sword is ideal for those who lack emotion or are perfectionists. Eugene took note of this and always remembered it whenever she trained.

The basis behind the Veria swordsmanship was the way you move your thighs and feet. The faster you are, the more you can defend and attack. Getting far enough away from your opponents while also getting close enough to make a fatal move. Understanding your body was critical to perfecting the Veria style. When using the Veria swordsmanship, you must control your weight and understand the ins and outs of your body in order to distribute your weight evenly.

Eugene mastered this when she was younger and still retains the fundamentals; however, the nature of her former family's martial art is not just to kill as quickly as possible but as painfully as possible. As a result, Eugene would make unnecessary strikes, which goes against the Veria swordsmanship's perfectionism.

She had used to be praised a lot at the beginning but after she began to incorporate her former family martial arts into her life, the way she handled her sword changed. She began to have habits and did not keep true to the Veria sword that the instructor gave up on her. He tried his best to change Eugene's habits, but it was proven hard.

Euria however, was different from Eugene. The way her sword moves were exactly the way the Veria swordsmanship should be. There were no unnecessary steps. Eugene can see this clearly as she watches Euria train from the fourth floor. Euria distributed the weight of her body so evenly that not a single millimeter was off. With this, she was able to land a critical hit on her hidden bodyguard but also evade the attacks of her hidden bodyguard. Even without watching closely, Eugene could tell that Euria's sword was flawless and that she might even be stronger than her hidden bodyguard who was unable to land a hit on Euria no matter what kind of attacks she came up with.

Eugene could imagine them sparring against each other, and had a feeling that it would be one of the hardest spars of her life. Her instincts were telling her that she might even lose. Just imagining that gave shivers down Eugene's spine, hence she switched her thinking gears again.

From the corner of her eyes, she saw many workers heading her way. She was just about to ignore them when they began to greet her normally.

"...Good afternoon." She greeted back albeit late and watched as the workers walked past her. The sudden acknowledgment of her existence surprised her, but when she thought back to the conversation she had with Moniqua yesterday, she now understood what Moniqua meant by talking to them.

Moniqua most likely informed the workers that what occurred was an accident and that Eugene had been trying to catch her, which was why it looked as if she had pushed her down.. There was no better explanation for the sudden change in the workers' eyes in one day than this reasoning.
