Episode 180- The devil's blood in me

It was a miracle. His wound did not worsen but was instead getting better. His body stabilized and gave the physicians the time and plan necessary to save his life.

The physicians said it was a miracle but only Con knew that it wasn't. The reason why he knew it wasn't a miracle was that Euria stopped by to get examined for her nosebleed. Her small internal injuries were discovered when she was first examined. This was before Dea's condition stabilized. And after Dea's condition stabilized, everyone noticed that Euria was getting paler and paler, and that was when the second examination concluded that her internal bleeding was severe. This was after Dea's condition stabilized.

And that was how he found out that Euria did not lie to him when she said that she would save Dea. That moment was also when he decided to give up on his life to serve Eugene. That was also how he's been keeping tabs on Eugene's achievement as a soldier and reporting to Euria whatever achievement Eugene achieved.

.

.

Eugene's eyes were complicated as they stared into Con's eyes. His story woke her up completely and dragged her from the depths known as hell.

She got up while still staring straight into Con's eyes. Without much of a word, she took one step forward, two steps forward, and walked past him. Con didn't say anything and followed after Eugene. He was behind her a meter, not a step more and not a step-less.

Eugene held onto the thick envelope tightly as she passed by the workers who appeared very happy seeing Eugene snap out of her world. What they didn't expect was for Eugene to still not react to their words and ignore them as she headed outside.

At this moment, security did not exist in the Veria mountain. The workers tried their best to persuade Eugene however but did not manage to hold her back.

"Leave her," said Con as he passed by the workers. When the workers saw his camouflage clothes, their worries lessened, however they still reported to the Duke that Eugene had left the mansion.

Eugene walked slowly but her steps were resolute and stable. She walked past the field of flowers that had been totally crushed from today's incident and glanced slowly at her surroundings. Her eyes showed that she was noting every change and everything that the intruders destroyed into her mind.

The only time she stopped walking was when she saw a figure. The sound of water slapping against each other and splashing could be heard in this grim silence. The mist created from the waterfall could be seen as she arrived back at her secret spot. And right in front of her was the enemy who had been tied by the knights back when they came here to rescue Aernest.

"Comrade Eugeneia." There was a hint of alarm in Con's voice, however, Eugene paid no heed and began to walk towards the little enemy who was staring at the sky with no expression on his face.

BAM!

"Comrade Eugeneia!" Con raised his voice as he stared at Eugene in shock.

Eugene didn't reply and continued to step on the stomach of the emotionless enemy. There was a force in her foot as she gradually added pressure. The enemy's face showed a hint of suffocation and it was only then when Eugene retracted her foot back.

"Hey." Coldness exuded from Eugene's body as she spoke with her cold voice.

Con didn't do anything to stop Eugene and merely looked over her. The Eugene in front of him was familiar but also very unfamiliar. He knew that what she was doing was pointless, however, he also knew not to interrupt Eugene. As for people with green eyes, he had already heard from Euria, hence why he knew what Eugene was doing was pointless.

The enemy was emotionless as he stared at the person who caused him to become uncomfortable. It was the first time Eugene found out how annoying people with expressionless faces can be. She now understood why people reacted the way they did when they were faced with her emotionless self years ago. With a face as cold as this, it was impossible to read any emotions or thoughts from him.

"She said that killing you fast was the only merciful thing to do. But what should I do?" Eugene started slowly as her palms reached the mist surrounding them.  When she continued, she clenched her fist as if wanting to catch the mist, while her eyes moved back to the enemy, "I don't feel like killing you fast?" Her lips slowly curved up when she was done and she kneeled on the ground.

"Say… you don't understand me do you?"

"....."

Eugene reached for something inside her clothes and in a quick motion hit the enemy's chest and then retracted her hands.

Con didn't understand or notice what Eugene had done, and only noticed once the smell of iron beginning to waft its way to his nose. It was then when he saw the enemy's shirt slowly staining in red.

"Comrade-"

Eugene raised her palm for Con to shut up and she asked the child, "Do you know who I am?"

"...."

She stared down at the child's face from above and stated, "I have the devil's blood in me. Well, used to. But besides the fact, it means that I've inherited 'their' knowledge in torturing people." Though she did not have her former family's assassin abilities because she did not train to become an assassin, what she possessed was knowledge. Knowledge from her decade of witnessing prisoners being tortured with the worst pain possible. Knowledge on how to torture to make people confess.

Of course, she knew that this child was different and whatever torture method she used wasn't going to make him talk no matter what. However, it didn't mean she was going to be merciful when she came across him here. No way.

Eugene held her pocket dagger, stood up, and walked to the end of the enemy. Slowly and calmly she began to slit the enemy's Achilles heel. She did it very slowly and repeated the process over and over...

"..." Con's fists were clenched tightly as he turned away. He only turned back when he heard Eugene standing up, and surprisingly untying the rope on the enemy.

"Go. Take me to where you come from." Though she ordered, she knew that the child wasn't going to respond. Hence she tried words that might be familiar or might trigger the child.

"Darius."

Like an automatic response, the enemy's ears twitched and his hands began to move.

"Exitium."

As soon as Eugene said the name of the organization, the child tried to get up. But no matter how many times or how much he tried to, he wasn't able to stand, let alone place any strength on his feet.

And this was because of the place Eugene tempered with.

The place she messed around with was his Achilles heel. The Achilles heel is a large tendon at the back of your lower leg and ankle that connects your calf muscles to your heel. This tendon is one of the most important and also the largest tendon on your body; a tendon that carries your weight and allows you to run.

So what happens if this tendon tears? You will be unable to walk or do anything that involves using your feet. That is unless you get it fixed of course.

Eugene watched with her head tilted at the enemy who was still trying to stand on his feet.

Naturally, Con was watching too, but unlike Eugene who was indifferent to this sight, his entire body was ridden in a cold sweat.

'Devil blood?' He furrowed his eyebrows, remembering the word Eugene said earlier on.

He didn't understand her words and also knew that she did not mean the Veria's blood. It had been a good six years since he came to know Eugene and her personality. They have been through an incident together and trained a lot together, but the Eugene he was seeing right now was not the Eugene he knows.

To cut one's Achilles heel. Something as useless as this was something the Eugene he knew would never do because it was a waste of time.

"Quick. Do whatever you have to and lead the way." urged Eugene as she cleaned her dagger.

A normal person might stay put until they get the help they needed but the enemy in front of Eugene and Con wasn't normal. He was one to follow orders, use whatever means he could, and do whatever he had to, to follow orders.

Just as Con was about to say something, the enemy gave up trying to wall and began to crawl. Con closed his eyes, and breathed out hard, before following after Eugene who immediately followed after the enemy.

They passed through many trees and areas that were not managed properly before they arrived at an empty place.  Eugene stopped walking and did not continue to follow after the child. Instead, she glanced around, as if observing the area in great detail.

'So this is where everyone crawled out from..' She sneered before continuing to walk.
