The area was not unfamiliar to Eugene. This was a place she would pass by ever so often depending on which running route she would take that day. The place was bare, rid of any grass. However, in this bareness, many footprints can be seen heading out and many footprints could be seen heading in.
The child stood in front of the spot where footprints were most common and kept standing there without doing anything else.
'... It's too late.' Eugene's eyes were dark as she stared at the boy continuously standing there with a blank expression.
Her eyes moved to the ground in deep thoughts and then moved up again to observe the area carefully. There did not appear to be anything added or removed, only footsteps. It was a pointless trip, so Eugene didn't continue waiting and walked to the enemy.
She didn't try any more tricks or torture on the boy, instead simply ending his life with a cut to the throat.
Euria didn't warn them about getting rid of the teleportation or pulverizing the area which meant that the teleportation the enemy used could only be used for a certain amount of time. This was also confirmed by the boy being unable to teleport to the enemy.
Eugene knelt down on the ground and went through the boy's clothes to see if there was something that might give her a little hint of the enemy. Naturally, there was nothing the boy was carrying however, something shiny caught her eyes. It was a greenish button that strangely reminded her of something. She didn't have to think deeply before deciding to tear out all of the buttons that were on the enemy's shirt.
She put four inside her pocket and observed one of the buttons.
'Huh…' The button was shiny at times but was also… matte at times. Though intuitively, she reckons there was something inside the button. So without a word to Con, she walked back to the secret place, and just before she reached the end of the cliff, she held the button to the sun.
'White-ish light like string spreading around the green.' That was all Eugene could see with light shining on the button. However, the more she observed, the more familiar it just felt to her.
She stayed in this position for another minute before throwing the button to Con.
"Take this as reference." If her guess was right, the green-tortoise color might be the organization's trademark.
Con said nothing and observed the button before putting it away. His eyes followed Eugene who moved closer to the cliff and then sat at a large boulder. Her back showed him one thing and that Eugene was back to the Eugene he knew of.
The clouds no longer block the sun and shine their light throughout the Veria mountain. Sun shone on Eugene's back as if hugging her, comforting her with its golden ray. However, to Con, all he saw was loneliness. He could see her staring straight ahead as if giving the time to herself to breathe.
Eugene clenched and unclenched her palms as she inhaled and exhaled slowly. Back when Euria left, when Moniqua fell, and even now, all she could feel was something restraining her, making her unable to breathe. It was hard to stay still, but Eugene knew that she had to do it in order to ease whatever was surpassing her down.
Once she inhaled and exhaled enough times, her hand reached to her chest, to the thick and protruding letter. She felt that whatever was in the letter and whatever Euria wrote would make her fall deeper into the sea. The sea filled with suffocation. Make her possibly more breathless than she was right now and even possibly… break her.
It was funny that she was afraid because she knew deep down inside that her world had already cracked. It was a familiar feeling because this was what happened to her when she lost her emotions.
But she could also not read the letter. If she didn't read the letter, it would be as if she was hiding in a hole and not knowing anything. It was clear that there are answers to the questions she had asked Euria yesterday. Answers about Euria and maybe even possibly… herself. According to Con, Euria left this letter in case something big occurred, which means this letter might contain the answer as to why what happened today happened.
"What should I do…" she mumbled in agony and frustration, "What do I do…" She didn't want to read the letter but at the same time wanted to read the letter!
Con watched as Eugene became increasingly frustrated and stepped up, "Comrade Eugeneia."
"..."
"Listen to your heart."
The moment Eugene heard Con, she turned around. She couldn't believe what she just heard and repeated, "My… heart?"
Eugene's eyes began to shake a little, however, she asked, "And what if I want is for Euria to come back?" The cause of her suffocation was Euria. Especially knowing that Euria was in the hands of such a disgusting organization. It was truly enough to make her go mad. Mad that she was unable to do anything and stand there as she watched Euria leave. Mad enough that she was especially weak right now.
Con was silent for a few seconds before he said in a soft voice, "Then you should do it." Though his voice was soft, he sounded completely serious.
"....."
"Get Miss Euria back," he stated simply, as eyes stared straight into Eugene's. He knew what he said was stupid and probably something he never should've said, but there was something in him that told him that Eugene wouldn't truly be living if she didn't do what her heart wanted her to do.
"..." Eugene's eyebrows slowly furrowed. She looked at Con for a full minute before reaching in for her jacket for the envelope again.
"Of course I should get her back." Once she said this, her heart suddenly felt clear again. Even if she were to lose everything, or maybe her life, what would be the point of living if there was no Euria?
Just before she opened the envelope she glanced at Con again, "I also want my mother to get better…" It was late, but she now realizes the significance everyone holds in her heart. Like a world without Euria, a world without Moniqua would also be pointless.
"....." Con pursed his lips as if he was trying to come up with the best possible answer. He thought that Eugene was only going to be concerned with matters about Euria; however, it turns out he was wrong.
An image of Eugene sitting by herself, isolated from the rest of the world as she waited for the Duchess' surgery suddenly flashed across his mind.
With his fists clenched he responded as maturely and seriously as possible, "Then Comrade Eugeneia should search the world for the best physician."
Eugene stared straight into Con's eyes. "You are right." Con's answers were all simple but because they were simple, she felt a way out of this hole known as suffocation and negativity. All she needed to do was find the best physician. That was all she had to do if she wanted Moniqua to heal completely.
Hence, there was no longer any hesitation on Eugene's side, and she ripped open the envelope.

"Dear Sister,
How… do I begin? I've never written an informal letter before so I don't know what to do. Excuse my handwriting btw, I'm not bothered to write prettily.
If you are reading this letter, I'm probably already long gone and you would've just been given this letter by Con.
Why Con? Well, there are many reasons why I trust Con with this letter and one of the reasons why is because I know him from my former life. Oh… maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that so suddenly…. Oops.
Anyway, sister can place your full trust in Con. He is a very dedicated man who will never betray his friends. This fact I know from all the many lives I've lived… Oh. Again… Maybe I shouldn't just write that out so randomly…
Anyway anyway! You can trust him. He is strong, and he can carry whatever order you give to him so make sure to use him well!
Back to the topic. Well… it's a very long story. I hope that sister never gets to read this letter, but if I'm gone, it means the situation is a little tiny bit serious and a little tiny bit… dire. First of all, I am sorry for putting this on you. I'm sure the pressure on you is enough. However, please know that I truly wanted to live a peaceful life with you and then die together with you even though our deaths might be a bit … gruesome. (Though at least, we all would've died together.)
Don't worry though. I've long since gotten rid of this idea because I realized that I was forcing my ideals onto sister. So, goodbye to our little peaceful life we might've had, and cheers to our long life that will be filled with rollercoasters of pain!
