Chapter 12: Questioning our little act

[Ava's POV]

After a few seconds of silence, Hiccup turned back to me. 'Looks like he didn't notice that...'. "I think I'ts time to introduce you to the others" We walked on the dirt path towards the arena, or rather the academy as it was called now. 

The doors were pulled open as we got close, and I could already see four people standing there, waiting for us. "How long can Snotloud hold himself back and not hit on her?" Tuffnut asked. "Two seconds" The twins sealed the bet and looked at the viking with the black hair. 

"Why do you always get to show the beauties around?" Snotloud complained while the twins laughed. "May I introduce you, The twins, Ruffnut and Tuffnut, Snotloud, Fishlegs and Astrid, the one who found you" He pointed at the people while telling me their names. I wished I could introduce myself to my favorite cast, but there was someone's chastity I had to protect.

"And what is your name?" Fishlegs asked a bit reserved. "That's the problem, she can't speak" Hiccup said and everyone went silent.  'They make it seem like a viking not being able to talk is as bad as a dragon being grounded' "Did you ask her if she has anywhere to go?" Astrid asked. Hiccup didn't answer, so she just punched him. "That's the first thing you should've asked her! Even if she can only say yes or no!" 

All six heads turned to me. 'If I say to them, that I have somewhere to go, they might try to help me get there.... so why not stay here for a little bit longer?' I shook my head. And instantly their discussion was continuing. "Can't she just stay here?" "But where would she stay?"

"I have another bedroom in my house which has been unused for years now, so I think she can stay with me. Of course, if that's ok with her" 

And so just a few minutes later I stood in the room which would become my new home. At least for some time. Astrid told me I could make myself comfortable while they were having one of their training lessons on another island. 'At least there is nobody keeping an eye on me, I guess'

[Ruby's POV]

"So what exactly is the plan?" I was flying together with Rushspike and Persistence towards Berk. "We need to burn the idiots who kidnapped her!" "For your information, we are talking about a human tribe which has been living with dragons for multiple years now, and I don't really want a war between two dragon nests."

"But if they're living with humans than they surely have no alpha, they'll just have to accept you!" "They have one...." Rushspike came up next to me. "How do you know that?" "Long story.... Long story...."

"So... do you want to go in and just drag her out of there, or do you have something else in mind?" I hadn't told them about my plan yet. "Well... I know Ava, so I think she's already friends with everyone on the island. So this might be a bit more complicated." 

The clouds passed beneath us as we flew through the sky in silence. "Say... why don't we just... try to communicate with them?" Rushspike asked. "I have to give her that one. We're definitely the weaker nest, so an ally would be quite alright. And if Ava is already a friendly term with everyone there.... Maybe...." They looked at me.

I started to think about it. Some part of me already knew that we'd have to interact with them, as they're the only tribe riding on dragons, or at least on a friendly term. Ava and I thought we might just be able to avoid them but now that there was a nest which I had to think of. 

'Am I really doing this just because there is a dragon who I'm scared of interacting with?' I didn't even know if Ava was still wanting to come back to our mountain. 'I don't even know if she's keeping up the act....'

"You know what? You two fly back. I'll do this alone" "What? Is their a secret that...?" But Persistence pushed her away and somehow manged to pull her back. "If the alpha says so, we do so" Without questioning they left. 

'I need to have a serious conversation with her about our little act...'
