Chapter 1: I.

"Quirkless bastard!!" I felt another kick hit my ribs, all I can do is try and guard myself against the onslaught of kicks, stomps, and punches that have been thrashing my body.

"Lemme have at 'em!" I know that voice, that was the leader of this group of bullies, Kazu Ota. Kazu's Quirk was Titanium, which allows him to turn his skin into titanium. I felt the beatings stop for a short moment until I felt the most painful attack I've ever received in my life.

"HAHAHAHA! That's what you get you Quirkless monster!" I struggled to breathe due to the fact that Kazu kicked me square in the chest with his titanium-hardened legs. The other boys laughed at me wiggling on the floor in pain. This put a thought into my head, why must I suffer? I expected heroes to save me every day and I cried to them every night, but they're not here!

"*Cough*, *Cough*, Y-You bastards!" No, I wasn't going to allow myself to be beaten anymore! If a hero won't come to save me I'll be my own hero! I slowly stood up holding my chest in pain, but for some reason, I felt invigorated. I felt stronger than before.

"Who are you calling a bastard?!" Kazu yelled as he swung his fist at me. Moments ago, I wouldn't have been able to dodge it and even now I can barely dodge it. I saw as Kazu's fist neared my face and my body instinctually leaned back.

"What?" Kazu and the other boys were confused. Understandably so, because a few minutes ago I was being beaten around like a dog and now I'm dodging punches from the strongest kid in the orphanage? Yeah, I would be confused too.

Seeing as how I dodged his punch, Kazu swung at me again. I saw his punch much clearer this time and I ducked under it. I saw an opportunity to attack and so I tried to uppercut Kazu, tried. Remember when I said he can turn his skin into titanium? Yeah, well it seems I forgot that.

*DINK*, My hand hit Kazu's chin and I felt a surge of pain course through my body.

"AAAAHHHH!" I held my hand as I screamed in pain, when I looked down at it my fingers were bending in ways they weren't supposed to.

"HAHAHA! Dumbass! You thought because you dodged a punch or two you could punch through my titanium?" Kazu laughed as he and the other boys beat me to a bloody pulp. After they left, it began to rain and I was left outside laying on the muddy ground with a broken hand and blood oozing out of me.

I knew the Sister's inside of the orphanage weren't going to come to look for me, they'd actually prefer if I died. I used the last ounce of my strength to turn onto my back and look up at the cloudy night sky.

"I guess this is it..." I felt the last vestiges of my strength dissipate and I slowly closed my eyes. I felt the cold grip of Death and I was falling deeper and deeper into Death's domain. Until a bright light shined on me like the sun's rays early in the morning.

"Only you can protect yourself now. Become strong! What this world needs isn't partial justice, but impartial willpower! So wake up! Don't let your Indomitable Spirit be sullied by those who believe in this world's fickle justice!" Those words, the bright light, and my own willpower broke me out of Death's grip. I know what I need to do now. This world doesn't need heroes, it needs a Monster to show how corrupt both sides of this world are! I will take up that mantle and show this world how grimy it really is!

When I opened my eyes, I saw that my injuries healed quicker than I expected, and my broken hand was now fractured. I got up off the ground and looked at the orphanage, I laughed and walked out of the gates, I won't be coming back here...yet.

The orphanage was on a hill on the outskirts of Musutafu and the bright city lights was where I was headed next. I thought back on the voice and realized I do in fact have a Quirk, Indomitable Spirit. It must have laid dormant because I didn't fight back or I wasn't close enough to Death, either way, I now have a way to fulfill my plan.

I ran down the hill and onto a very deserted road. Musutafu was far from the orphanage and it'll take a while for me to walk there. So I decided to run. At first, it was easy, but then I started to get tired. My body wanted to stop but my mind and soul didn't, so I continued on. As I continued to run I felt it become easier to run and I felt an increase in my speed. I ran and ran until I arrived at the road leading into Musutafu.

Once I entered Musutafu, I thought of a list of things I need. Food, water, and clothing. Everything else is useless to me. I walked down the streets of Musutafu and I spotted a clothing store that was closed, perfect. I walked to the back, broke into the store, and found a nice set of clothes that I took.

I entered a back alley to change clothes and I realized how much muscle my body suddenly gained. I had a lean muscular build like that of a swimmer and I noticed my hair reversed colors. It was black before, but now it was white with a patch of black, weird. After I finished changing my clothes, I was about to leave the alleyway until I heard footsteps.

"What do we have here? A newcomer?" I turned around and saw three thugs, one with a metal pipe, one with a switchblade, and another with brass knuckles. I felt my Indomitable Spirit surge within me and a blue aura outlined my body.

"Fellas, I'm feeling nice tonight, how about I leave and you guys get to live?" I don't know where that comment came from but it felt natural to me. The thugs laughed, "We get to live? You don't know who you're speaking to kid!" The thug with the pipe yelled as he swung his pipe and a gust of wind turned into a blade.

"Woah!" I leaned to the left, narrowly dodging the wind blade.

"Tch, I guess you guys aren't living then." I got into a stance that once again, felt natural to me. My Indomitable Spirit was roaring like an engine, I was excited to fight.
