“Hi, Mommy,” Sibel and Rylie greeted in unison, coming back from their daily training with Orpheus. I watched them run towards me and I smiled, spreading my arms to welcome them.
“Hi, how’s today’s lesson?” I asked with a smile and hugged each of them before giving them both a kiss on their cheeks.
“Hmmm, today I was learning to talk to Red better,” Sibel replied before she stroked her familiar’s head. Back then when it first arrived, it was big but after it became my daughter’s familiar, it resized itself so Sibel would be able to put it on her shoulder without a problem. Also, she already named her Red, purely because the bird’s feathers were colored red.
“As for me, I was practicing my shadow control hehe,” it was Rylie’s turn to say and I both smiled proudly at them.
“How about you, mommy?” The two asked in unison again, causing them to look at each other before chuckling since they never intended to ask the same question at the same time but they still ended up doing it and it was a bit funny.
“As usual, I’m tending the garden. Later we’ll be able to eat even more delicious vegetables and fruits,” I replied enthusiastically showing them what I’ve got so far. I don’t really have anything I’m doing especially when the twins began exploring the borders of the forests so after I clean our tree—which was not very difficult to do—cook food for everyone to eat and took care of the kids, I had nothing else to do aside from gardening and tending for my fruit trees. I didn’t know a lot when it came to gardening but with my strong affinity to nature, I could always somehow tell what the plants need and want and I simply give that to them.
“Wooowwww! Mommy is so cool,” both of them chirped and I just giggled, feeling kinda embarrassed. Aside from the twins themselves, my garden was also my pride because it also helped me a lot, especially in terms of earning a bit of cash to buy important provisions to make my and my children’s lives easier and better.
I have very wide varieties of plants from ornamental to herbs, vegetables, and trees; Even those that are rare to find and difficult to cultivate. I have it in my wide garden because it’s Orpheus’ hobby to give me different kinds of plants whenever he can and for the past 6 years, it kind of accumulated to a huge number. Thankfully, it’s not difficult to take care of all of them since I have the fairies helping me and my ability was basically a cheat.
So every harvest season I have a lot of to spare, I mostly sell the excess that I probably wouldn’t need at a very good price at the village and then I use the money it to buy things mostly meat, eggs, flour, butter, sugar.., normally just things I use in cooking and also clothes for both Rylie and Sibel.
I truly can’t thank Orpheus enough for continually helping me. Even though I did take care of the plants, it wouldn’t have been possible for me to attain them without him. And speaking of… I wonder how he is. It’s been a week since I last saw him and whenever I tried to call him he wouldn’t answer. Still, he does see my children to teach them what he promised.
“Rylie, Sibel, how is the pudding that I made??”
“It’s yummmmmy!” They exclaimed almost at the same time, making me chuckle.
“And how about Orpheus, did he like it?”
“Yep, it’s his favorite! He even took Mr. Damon’s share… but it’s okay since Mr. Damon was busy and told me he couldn’t come for a while if I called him,” Rylie mentioned and I just nodded. It’s a relief that Orpheus enjoyed the pudding as always. At least, I know he’s not entirely upset with me since he’s still eating my food.
“It’s fine. Oh by the way, tomorrow will be Sibel’s turn to come with me to the village.”
“Wahhh really, Mommy? Finally, I’m so excited…” the young girl exclaimed. Well, it figures since I only go out of Orpheus’ barrier once every two-four months when I have many harvests to spare and sell.
“Ahwww, I want to come too.” Rylie complained but I chuckled at him before pinching his nose.

“You went with me last time so it’s your sister’s turn. Be patient and it'll be your turn again next time, okay?” I comforted which he was still not happy about but he nodded anyway, making me smile because he was so cute with his pout.
Well, as much as I wanted to bring the two of them together, I just didn’t want to risk it. Since I’ll be too busy negotiating with the locals, my attention would be divided and I might not be able to monitor them properly. Of course, I might just be overly thinking and worried for nothing but we never know what might happen in the future. I’m still fairly new to this world and I’m not fully aware of the danger’s this world brings since I have yet to be given a chance to explore it.
Furthermore, there’s also the fact that this place was pretty far from the capital and it’s very common for slave traders to abduct women and children in these areas. Not just that, since it is far, the place was basically almost lawless outside the villages’ territories and there’s a lot of bandits around. I just don’t want anything bad to happen especially since it’s just me and the kids around. Of course I do have Orpheus but since he isn’t really a combat familiar, it won’t be good to call him when things get out of hand.
So at least if there’s just one child, I’ll let him/her help me and if by any chance we needed to escape, it’ll be easy for me to just lift my child and run since I am not strong enough to lift two.
“Come on. I’ve already prepared your bath water earlier so you two go take it now before we have early dinner,” I said again with a smile while the two nodded and soon we went inside our tree. One more important fact that kept running in my mind as well which was one of the reasons why I’m being too overprotective of Rylie and Sibel was the fact that I’m not sure yet as to why my character never showed up in the later chapters in the novel if she had gotten pregnant and later had twins. If my memory is serving me correctly, I could remember how this nameless woman tried her best to curry favor from the male leads but in the end, she was coldly rejected.
Although that kind of thing didn’t happen to me, if a woman like that had gotten pregnant like me in the novel, wouldn’t it be a big opportunity to marry into one of the male leads, given the fact that she’s with a child? One of each man to be exact. It’ll be a bit complicated but it wouldn’t be impossible to marry one of the two especially if they find out the twin’s abilities.
Maybe I’m just overthinking again but there’s a high possibility that she did but was killed before she could do anything. The original plot might have changed now but that does not mean me and the kids would be safe. It’s better to be prepared than regret later. It absolutely didn’t sit well to me as well that before I left, there was someone who was looking for me.
“What’s tonight’s dessert, mommy?” My little girl was quick to ask and I squinted my eyes at her.
“You haven’t had your bath and dinner but you’re already asking what’s for dessert? Mommy won’t tell you anything,”
“Ohhh, but I smell something sweeeet~” Rylie exclaimed this time.
“Ahhh! No peeking at the kitchen table! Go straight to the tub now before the water runs cold.”
“Ahww~ Fine… but we know it’s an apple pie hehe.”
“Yeah yeah, and you’re not having any if you continue to stay stubborn,” I said with a helpless sigh. Thankfully, they soon raced towards the bathroom while they stripped their clothes, dropping it on the floor. I looked at their small figures and I just chuckled while picking up their dirty clothes. I kept looking at the direction they disappeared and I suddenly thought. Our lives now are so peaceful, I wished it would last forever. But unfortunately, I could never keep them hidden here forever. They are set to do and experience a lot of things when they grow older and no matter how much it hurts, I would have to let them go by then.
Both Sibel and Rylie are powerful. They have the power to both save and destroy the world. If I stay with them and insist on my protection, I would only be dragging them down. Children in this world become adults at the age of 12. As a modern person like me, it would be too early but if the kids insist on exploring the world, I wouldn’t stop them as long as they have the ability to protect each other.
