Chapter 28: Secret Job~2!

"You are hired!" As soon as Kunimi introduced me to his manager, these words came from his mouth with a thumb raised in enthusiasm.

"Eh? I mean, there isn't any interview or something?". I was glad that I was hired but still it was unreal.

" Generally we take interview but for this week we only need good looking staffs just like you, young man. Now please check the uniforms from the dressing room and get a briefing about your job from Kunimi kun". He waved as he walked back to his office.

'He sure is desperate..' I sighed at the unusual compliment I got before turning toward Kunimi.

"Let's get you changed my friend". I nodded as we started walking toward the back of the cafe where a door was labeled as 'Only for staff'.

" Hey, Kunimi. Thanks, man for helping me. I sure will treat you a yakisoba bread next time." I said as we entered the changing room.

(A/N: Yakisoba bread is a hotdog like a bun with noodles filled between.)

"Don't sweat it. I never went out of my way for this job but yakisoba is always welcome". The inside of the room was empty as it was early for any staff to arrive.

Kunimi showed me uniforms that were hung under a plastic cover.

" Don't worry, they are dry washed so no problem with hygiene and stuff". I nodded and took the uniform which seemed of my size.

As the sun started going down, the number of people in the cafe also increased. This cafe was near the station so the popularity was on whole another level. Before today I also came here a couple of times but never thought that I would work here.

According to the quick training, Kunimi gave me, I just have to nicely ask what they have to order. Note it down. Bring it to the counter. And serve the dishes back. Simple.

And since, I wasn't an introvert, to begin with, associating with people seemed not so hard for me.

"Good evening. What you will like to order?" I asked with a smile to a middle school couple. Their faces were red which told me that it could be their first date or sort. A genuine smile formed on my face before the boy began to speak.

"O-one dark coffee and you Shimoto san?" He asked the girl who was fidgeting cutely on the other end.

"Um...cold coffee ". I noted and with a previous smile replied. "One dark coffee and one cold coffee on the way. "

Well, it was obvious that the boy was showing off in front of the girl, but I couldn't agree more. At first, I also tried to act cool in front of Tsubaki when we were in the second year. However, she always caught my act and said "Please don't push yourself Sakahi kun. You are great as you are".  

I always smiled at her remarks and slowly I opened my true self in front of her. At first, I was hesitant but gradually it became natural.

'But do I know her true self?" I didn't think about it for long and returned to the next table.

As one could imagine in valentine's week, the cafe was filled with couples. The size of the cafe was around 200m², fairly large with four and two-person tables all around the place. So the crowd didn't seem unorganized or suffocating.

Apart from me and Kunimi, 7 other waiters were busily taking orders and serving food. They all were quite good-looking and talked maturely with the customers. It was a little self-deprecating, but I knew I was also doing a good job so, with an imaginary self pat, I continued toward another table.

I spotted a girl with an unusual outfit sitting at the back-most table of the cafe alone. She had a heavy buff jacket with glasses on her eyes. She had a mask on her face but the long black hair made it obvious about her gender. 

'Ah, I really miss you Tsubaki'. The mere similar color of hair reminds me of her but I have to endure it for now.

"Welcome. What would you like to order". 

" Ah". She yelped in surprise and clutched the armrest of her chair upon my arrival.

"Ah..we-..well I...anno.." She was contemplating aloud while keeping her gaze down.

"Ah, it's okay if you take your time. " I said as I bowed lightly in courtesy and went back. I heard some murmurs but didnt stop as it became a little awkward around there.

"What should I do?" I held my head as I plopped down on the table with tons of nervousness pouring down in my mind.

I prepared myself...

For two hours...

Continuously...

Yet in front of him, I failed...

'Why do you look so damn handsome. And what's with that outfit. I mean are you sure you aren't here for a photo shoot. It looks too good on you. I might have a personal stare session with you. Ah my nose..: I wiped the little hot blood pouring my nose as I started imagining various things with Kazu kun in his mature-looking attire.

He was wearing a plain white shirt, a pair of black formal trousers, and a bow tie. His long hairs were tied with maturity oozing out of him.

My eyes were fixed on him completely. His elegant smile which unfortunately was not directed toward me, and the way he talks are too hot to handle.

'Hah. I might order one Kazu kun for my meal after all.' I was barely holding my composure when another waiter approached me.

I looked toward him and recognized that he was one of my classmates, Ichihara Kunimi.

"Is that you Tsubaki san?" I informed him before coming here to book a table for me. It was better for him to know that I was here so I could easily dodge direct contact with Kazu kun.

"Yeah. And why did you let him come over here? I mean I was happy but still, I barely could hold myself being caught surprisingly." I said in a low tone as he poured me water and took out his notepad.

"For the time being don't raise a commotion or it will eventually ruin my friendship with Kazuya. I know you want it but I request you don't.." I heard the desperation in his words and just with a single nod ended the conversation.

I know what type of person is my Kazu kun and if he was to know about the deal between me and Ichihara kun then it might not end up well for both of us.

'No, it's good he doesn't know but should I tell him already...ahh...I don't know..' I again plopped down on the table when suddenly Kazu kun's voice reached my ears. I shot up my head and saw his conversion with four women. With their uniforms, it was obvious that they were college students.

Their predatory eyes were ra*ing my Kazu kun. The struggle of my resistance to not go and rip their eyes off was crumbling passing each second. Clenching my fist I could feel my nails digging in my flesh, but somehow I endured it and heard their conversation carefully.

"If you don't have work after this, then you can play with the onee-chan present here. We know a lot of interesting games". Her obvious suggestive words were too much. And looking at her bitchy expression, I bet a boy might fall for it.

'Please no Kazu kun. Say no'. Tears started forming in my eyes on the thought of what if he accepts...however...

" Games? Please write the recommendation on the napkin I will take a look at them later." They went dumbfounded and somehow I too.

But my face regained its color and I squealed silently in joy.

'I wub your denseness sometime Kazu kun. Keep it up." I gave 100 out 100 for my light bending Kazu kun before I heard him saying something again.

"And sorry, I am not free after work as my cute girlfriend is waiting for me at home". He wasn't looking at them as he spoke, and at the end of his words, he showed a lovely smile which he only show to me.

But unfortunately, my focus wasn't on him now...but the words he spoke.

'Girl...friend... it's me right? But he said cute. I am cute right? Well, his home is me then it must be me. Oh Kazu kun, I never knew you can flirt with me so indirectly...Kyaa! I love you too Kazu kun.'

It was 9 in the night when Kazuya changed his clothes as his and mine part-time ended. 

" It sure was tiring". He sat on the stool in front of me completely exhausted as we sipped a regular coffee, free of cost of course.

"Just six days my friend". I consoled him as in the starting it was tough for me too.

" Hmm. But I have to do part-time in the future too, so I must get used to this". I took a long sip on his....delusion.

Knowing a certain someone's personality I couldn't help but worry about his future plans.

"Ah yes. I never asked but why this sudden job requirement? " I asked as it came abruptly for him to join part-time only for this week.

"You see this Valentine, I want to confess Tsubaki. And for that, I just need a ring or sort and I want to buy through with my own hard work. I already find myself as a gigolo about living with her and being taken care of. So I just want to do something for her on my own. You know how I feel right?" I nodded as I patted his shoulder.

"I know. I also started working part-time so I could freely spend on Sayo and never take a toll on my parents. So if you feel like it then you can join the cafe again in the future." With a smile, he stood up.

"Ah yes. We had brownies left in the kitchen right?" He asked as I nodded.

"Yeah. The manager generally gives it to us as it never lasts for a day and gets spoiled. You want them?" He hesitantly nodded.

"Sure wait". I went inside and packed four brownies in a paper bag before returning.

"Here".

" Thanks, man. Should I pay for t-" I interjected.

"Nah. It's good. But as I remember, you didn't like dark chocolates, then brownie?" I asked as been friends for this long, we both knew various facts about each other.

"Ah, it's for Tsubaki. She seems to be angry with me for leaving her alone. She didn't text me even once while I was at work. And neither did I have the time." He paused for a moment before continuing."Anyway, see you". He said as he waved at me as I also waved back.

" Angry with you huh. How ignorant you are, my friend".
