Chapter 34: New favorite!

"Ah, it sure is busy today". I sat beside Kunimi as I sighed. Today, the crowd never halted as no seat became vacant even for a minute before someone occupied it.

The cafè owner didnt bring my absence up, as Kunimi somehow managed it yesterday. And surprisingly, my pay won't be cut short either. 

" Hmm. It's good that we dont have shifts on the valentines, or I dont know how much work would have befallen on us ". He said with a sigh and I also kinda share this emotion.

Even, we just have to serve and take orders, maintaining a smile and kind attitude was the toughest amongst all. Moreover, when the customer was a jerk like these...

" Hey, hey see that cutie over there. Isn't she alone let's accompany her".

"Nah bruh. Way outta league. Gonna regret it later".

" But what's the prob in tryin, maybe one of us succeed getting a partner in this Valentine". This conversation was happening between three guys slightly older to be high schoolers, maybe university students. I was standing just beside their table to take their order, with a twitching smile on my face. I didnt know they were ignoring me or I was invisible to them, however, the person they were aiming at couldn't get ignored by me at all.

"*Ahem* Excuse me sir. What would you like to order". My hoarse voice reached their ears as they flinched and moved their gazes from Tsubaki toward me.

The person in question was busily working so she never felt gazes on her. Not only these three idiots but various customers were stealing glances at her and I couldn't complain either. Tsubaki is a natural eye-catcher.

" 3 lattè. And....yeah send one coffee to that table too. But dont say who sent it kay?"

"Way to go bro. The old-style huh". I felt my nerve bulging with my fist clenched in agitation. 

" Sorry but those things only happen in bars, dear customer. So please order for yourself". Was it the usual way I talk?

No way.

I was frustrated to the point that I wanted to announce Tsubaki as mine and slap those stares she was getting since noon.

"Tch, whatever. Just go away. And take as long time you want. We are not gonna leave early anyway."

*Tak* A small thud came into my ears when I saw a black coffee cup placed near my laptop. I was so engrossed in my work that I never realized someone approaching me.

Lifting my head, I got delighted in an instant. 

"Hi". I said while smiling at Kazu kun, but looking at his current mood it didnt seem that he was much happy.

'Is he angry because I was so busy?' Naturally, I knew he couldn't get mad over such small things so I started thinking about the possibilities for his displeasure.

" You should take it easy. It's already 3 hours and still, you are focused on it. I think it will harm your eyes." He said as he brought his hand on my shoulder and gently gave a light squeeze.

I wasnt expecting this sudden skinship and him being worried about me, so I got nervous and all.

In the end, I only nodded and closed my laptop in a daze. When I looked back to Kazuya kun, he wasn't looking toward me but was glaring in a certain direction.

Following his gaze, I found three boys glaring back at him.

Sometimes I feel proud of my quick-wittedness. I got the gist about this sudden possessive behavior of Kazu kun.

And when the realization reached me, it hit me hard. Butterflies started erupting in my stomach with warmness filling inside me.

I held his hand which was squeezing my shoulder and leaned my face toward it.

'Jealous Kazu kun is soo cute.' I squealed inwardly as being the subject of Kazu kun's jealousy made me elated to no end. It shows that he thinks of me in that way too.

"Mm. I will dont worry". Reassuring him I purred in amusement.

Breaking his constant gaze, he looked toward me and after giving a slight smile, walked back.

I stared at his strong and handsome back, growing far with every step.

'With you, my every day becomes adventurous and exciting Kazu kun. Please take care of me in the future as well.' With a bow, I started sipping on the black coffee Kazu brought me.

Late in the evening, I finally finished my work and with Tsubaki got out of the cafè. I was amazed at how patient she could be.

Tsubaki called her car as it was long since dark and it was also safer for her to travel in a car in place of trains.  Even I could protect her, I didnt want to take any chance.

" Kazu kun if you are not fine with waiting then we can order something online. It will take me at least half an hour to prepare something decent, you know." She said as we entered the car. 

I was quite hungry since I ate lunch at home and only some snacks at the cafè but...

"If it's okay, then I would like to eat your handmade food. After eating your food even for these few days, I dont think I will be satisfied with any restaurant made. Well, only if you are not tired otherwise it's fine". I reassured her so she doesn't get pressurized.

However, looking at her crescent eyes and happy smile, it seemed that she liked what I said.

" No I can never get tired because of you Kazu kun. Today, I will do my best to win your heart with my food". She made a determined pose, which was so cute that I ended up chuckling.

'You dont have to rely on your food tho'. Naturally, I didnt say out loud for now.

We chatted all the way until we reached home. Basically, our talk wandered around previous years' school festivals and all. Last year we weren't in contact during the festival but not this year. Festivals are organized in June, just after half term, so I was quite pumped up even it was far ahead.

Back at home Tsubaki instantly went to the kitchen and started preparing dinner. I was a little guilty of making her do this even we both were out, but knowing my kitchen skill I could only cheer her up nothing else. 

So after taking a quick bath, I sat on the table while gawking at her. 

It took her exact half hour to prepare the mouth-watering dinner.

Today's dish was Spaghetti with meatballs. 

"It truly remarkable to know that you can cook so many different styles of dishes. Sorry for the impatience, but I am digging in. Itadakimasu~" I took the fork and stabbed the juicy meatball while enjoying the extended cheese melting over it. Only in one go, I bite the whole ball.

"Delicious". I felt my heart melting on the first bite to the point where I couldn't hold myself and let my inner feeling out .

" I am glad you liked it. Please eat to your heart content. " Tsubaki smiled and also started eating.

I nodded without words as right at the moment, I just wanted to savor the exceptional piece of food in my mouth. I chewed slowly and enjoyed it to the fullest.

The dinner went in silence until we both finished. Even I took a little more extra we both end up finishing at the same time.

"How can I describe your cooking Tsubaki. You always leave me baffled on how talented you can be. Anyway, it was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Well, that steak is still my favorite tho". I said with full honesty as her food had long past subdued all the memories of my past favorite foods.

" I hope I can maintain my reputation in the future as well Kazu kun". We exchanged a smile before getting up.

Again she helped me wash dishes as we finished cleaning up together. Little by little I am becoming used to this too good to be true life.

Nearly at 11 in the night, I fell on the bed with a fully satisfied mind and stomach.

"I am spent". Tsubaki was taking a shower so I waited while playing on the phone so I doesn't end up sleeping before she comes.

It didn't take her time to walk inside the room with her cute pajamas on and hairs slightly damp, making her even more charming.

However, looking at her now it seemed that she was anxious a little. Not only that, but she was also hiding something in her hand.

" What happened Tsubaki?" I asked with my brows raised.

"Kazu kun, please don't get upset if I ask you this but..." She slowly unwrapped her hand and showed me a piece of clothing on her palm.

"....isn't it uncomfortable to wear it every night? I ".

My senses went blank, with all the connection with my brain severed and eyes becoming lifeless. Right now, I wanted only one thing, only one damn thing and that was to dig a hole and bury myself as deep as possible until suffocation kills me.

Being embarrassed would be a huge understatement to describe my current state.

She had my special underwear which I bought only to wear during at night so my boner doesn't become obvious. I tried my best to hide my underwear from her sight but now...

" Kill me already".
