9:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 19, 2022. It was a hot, sunny day at Itami High School. Classes were in session, especially Class 1-A's room, which is situated on the second floor of the school building, while the students of Class 1-A were silently listening to their English class.
Amidst the scratching noise of the chalk marker as it hit the blackboard, you could hear faint whispers at the back of the classroom. But their English teacher ignored those whispering noises and continued writing on the board. While the teacher was writing on the board, an average-looking guy who wore a white uniform and black, long school shorts named Shin Soru was found sitting right in the middle of the room. After a while, he released a deep sigh. It was because he was thinking about something...
Shit... Why am I seated here right in the middle of the classroom? Why not at the back of the row near the window? Fresh air will pass through the window, and I can see the school grounds. That quiet girl who sits there was so lucky, though I don't like her aura...
In the middle of his thinking, Soru remembered the manga he read yesterday, "I Wanted to be Isekai'd, but Instead I Got Slice-of-Life and a Harem-like Genre."
Just like the protagonist from my favorite manga, Hitomi, sitting at the back row-seat, plus near the window where fresh air is abundant, plus acting like a mysterious dude and silent, a perfect combination to become a harem-magnet protagonist. What a formidable technique to get a harem! Oh, I want that plot!
While their English teacher was in the middle of a discussion, Soru suddenly stood up, without knowing the class was in session. His classmates were shocked by his sudden action.
Who wants to be isekai'd anyway? Getting a harem is much better than that generic trope. Though you can build a harem in another world, fighting monsters is such a pain in the ass! I can't focus my attention on my beautiful harem, desperately fighting for me! "Oh please, Hero-sama, save our country!" "Go forth, Hero-sama! Fight the Demon King to save our country and this 'beautiful' world!" Blah blah blah, Hero my ass. I'll prefer that girls would flock over me than those monsters somehow...
Soru suddenly shouted in front of the entire class, "HAREM IS BETTER THAN ISEKAI! FUCK THAT STUPID GENRE--"
Suddenly, a chalk marker hit Soru's head. Soru searched around, wondering who threw that chalk marker at his head, and he saw his English teacher in front of the black board, staring at Soru with an angry look on his face. Everyone in Class 1-A laughed afterwards.
"Shin Soru... Why did you shout so suddenly while the class was in session!? Are you even listening? Your score during exams isn't even promising, and now you're not even listening to my lessons? Are you that smart to the point where you can slack off during my class, huh? "
Everyone in the class laughed again.
"He's always like that. He rants about how bad isekai genres are..." the male beside him said, while looking at his friend in front of him.
"Now, what are the different kinds of verbs?"
"Uhh, the d-different kinds of verbs..." Soru frantically picked up his English textbook, looking for the answer.
"Page 18, second sentence Mr. Shin!" His English teacher shouted.
Soru immediately found the said sentence. "Uhm... The different kinds of verbs are-- "
...
In the back-row seats, near the window, a girl named Mitsuha Reika silently watched the bird chirping from the tree branch. She had a beautiful pair of purple eyes that reflected the light from their surroundings. She had short, black and silky hair. It was so smooth that a sunstreak would reflect on her hair. She wore a white uniform because she didn't want to wear her black blazer and it was too hot if she wore it inside their classroom. In the middle of her chest, there is a red ribbon attached around her neck. She wore a short, red skirt with black stripes embroidered on it. While she was happily looking at the cute, little bird, she heard her classmates laughing.
"HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
She looked back to the class, and she saw his classmate, Soru, desperately looking at his English textbook. She didn't care about the situation, and she looked back outside the window afterwards. She realized that the bird, sitting on the branch before, was gone. She searched for the bird on the other branch. Maybe the bird had decided to rest there. She kept searching for it until she heard a faint chirping sound. She looked at the bottom of the tree trunk, where she assumed the source of that faint noise originated from. Even though it's hard to peek because of the difference in height between the classroom and the ground, the bird was right on the tree roots, as she suspected. She noticed that the right wing of that bird seemed broken, as if it was agonizing in pain.

She was worried about what happened to the poor bird, and decided to excuse herself so that she could check the condition of the bird further outside the front yard. She decided to stand up, but their front door suddenly opened. Seeing his principal walking inside, she sat down again.
"A-ah, good morning, Principal Watanabe!" The English teacher, Mr. Izanami, said, with a shock on his face.
Soru suddenly stopped in the middle of his recitation after hearing Mr. Izanami's greeting to the principal. He had no choice, so he slowly sat down afterwards, looking at the mysterious girl beside their school principal.
"Sorry for interrupting your class session, but I have an announcement to make." Principal Watanabe said.
"Principal Watanabe personally going here? He had never done that before. Is that mysterious girl that important?" the girl in front of the row seat murmured.
"Like, who's that girl besides the principal? Is she like, super-duper important?" The blonde girl from the back spoke first. "Maybe, or she is! Hahahaha!" said the other girl behind the blonde-haired girl.
"Ahem... Class 1-A of Itami High School, a new student will be transferred here in your class." Principal Watanabe said.
"Oh! That's nice!" Mr. Izanami said. "About that, would you like to introduce your name in front of your new classmates, young miss?"
The mysterious girl didn't respond to Mr. Izanami's words. Instead, she stood beside Principal Watanabe quietly for a long time, followed by a long break of silence inside the classroom for many seconds.
Takashi, the vice-president of Class 1-A, can't take the deafening silence and says, "She's cute, but is she deaf or something?"
Principal Watanabe, shocked by Takashi's rude behavior, wants to discipline him. Right before he uttered a word, the girl suddenly murmured in front of the class.

Meanwhile, Soru was thinking about something, thinking about the mysterious girl that their principal had introduced to them before, without caring about what was happening around him.
Who is that mysterious girl? She's cute... Definitely a good collection for my harem! Hehehehe... Someday, i'll be like Hitomi. Girls, tremble before my rod! Hahahahaha!
Soru snapped from his deep thoughts when he heard some weird words, and before he knew it, the entire room flashed so brightly.
